Here is the crunch of my character (half-orc unchained barbarian/fighter (mutation warrior): Kazul
Tank-build for the party interested in exploring the limits of strength, while sprinkling some Diplomacy/Intimidate social skills. Sort of like Hulk with Banner's brain. I will work on the background next.
DM Ragnarok |
You list your line with Furious Focus, but you do not have that feat selected on your character sheet. Further, you have too many feats; you should have 1 for 1st Level, 1 for Fighter 1, 1 for Fighter 2, and 1 for 3rd level, for a total of 4. Otherwise it looks like your stuff checks out.
DM Ragnarok |
xD
I think there might be a confusion about gaining feats on both sides of the Gestalt. To clarify; your overall character level is three, not six. You still gain feats as normal for leveling up CLASSES on both sides of the Gestalt, but you don't gain feats from character level, as your effective character level is 3.
Lucendar |
Kazul has been updated: swapped out iron will for furious focus; added background skills in Linguistics; and corrected some combat values. I don't have 8 feats - I just listed the free feats according to the feat tax rules that are now combat options, which were Power attack, Deadly aim, and Weapon Finesse. I mistakenly put point blank shot.
The Emerald Duke |
So I had a concept I wanted to run by you before devoting a lot of time crafting it: Black Blade Magus/Vigilante. The twist would be that the vigilante identity would be tied to the Magus abilities, so unless he was in that form he would have to be careful about using them, lest he give himself away. I was thinking that the blade's personality would be effectively speaking through his vigilante form (though still semi-distinct from it).
Would love your thoughts on viability.
The Emerald Duke |
Yes... and depending on the exact nature of the blade, I could easily envision it requiring a contest of wills for him to suppress the blade again prior to being able to swap back to his social identity.
Normally the blade matches the alignment of the wielder for the archetype. Under these circumstances I would argue that the blade would only match the vigilante's alignment, and would not always agree with the actions or methods of the social alter ego. In order to keep it from rebelling, it would probably take most of the magical power of the magus to keep the blade partially dormant while in social form, which would also help explain why he isn't using magus abilities under that form.
I should have a rough submission before the cutoff.
Ictoo |
I'm 99% there with my submission, just want to polish a few things you will have him later today.
I've gone for a bard/slayer ranged monster hunter. Back story is 99% done just working out all the stats now.
@Edward Sobel Ragnarok said he was using Feat Taxes Rules You can add these rules in Herolabs and it just adds those feats to your character for you. My output might have them also if you don't want that I'll take them out for you.
Torvin Gallus |
Ictoo here - I agree with you on that Ragnarok, there are a lot of crazy feat taxes in Pathfinder most left over from 3.5 days. (Druid is big on that with casting/talking while shifted)
My backstory only really leads up to getting to Sandpoint and setting up from level one(All his motives for why he would want to help), I'm not sure if I missed it but did you want us to fill anything in for level 1-3? Or will we put some stuff together if we get picked?
I picked Slayer/bard My Bard side I want more of a tactical mind pointing out to the group the best places to attack from his advantage at the back letting off a volley of arrows. I took the Arrow menstrual archetype as it seems really cool, and blends well with my ranged plans even though I will be switch hitting at points.
DM Ragnarok |
Ictoo, up until hitting Sandpoint is about what I'm looking for. If you know the AP and want to put in a bit more that's fine but I am going to put stuff together with whomever I select to fill in that time gap. I do see one error on your sheet; you have your AC calculated incorrectly. You have 19 AC from +7 Armor and +2 Dex but you have your gear listed as +1 Hide, which would be an AC of +4 with a max Dex bonus of +4 for 18 AC.
Other than that, looks good.
Torvin Gallus |
Ok, thanks for the Ragnarok I'll put some stuff together and if I get picked we can talk it out with the group.
My fault, its Hide Armor and not Hide shirt. I changed it for the dex but I am still considering sticking with a hide shirt to keep my 30 feet movement I to despise anything under 30 feet.

Hia :)
3d6 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (5, 5, 5) + 6 - 5 = 16
3d6 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (6, 4, 4) + 6 - 4 = 16
3d6 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 1, 6) + 6 - 1 = 13
3d6 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 1, 2) + 6 - 1 = 13
3d6 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 5) + 6 - 2 = 14
17, 16, 16, 14, 13, 13. Decent :) Hes good all around, no low stats.
So since you are allowing SoP, I think I might take advantage of that :)
The basic idea I have is to create the blind swordsman Trope. For one side of the gestalt he will be a fighter with a focus on a sword, and have (otherwise less useful) feats such as Quickdraw and Blind-Fight. He will generally get around by using his sheathed sword as a walking stick. As for being blind, well mechanically all it would take is that you close your eyes and never open them again >_>...
However, he does have extraordinary senses.
As an Incanter, the SoP Sphere, Divination has a category called Sense; "As a standard action, you may grant yourself paranormal senses for 1 hour/level."
and the Blindfolded Oracle talent; "You may spend a spell point to grant yourself Blindsense 30 ft. You must close your eyes to use this ability. For the purpose of this ability, opening and closing your eyes is a free action you may take once per round. You may spend an additional spell point to upgrade this ability to Blindsight."
So during combat, or those times I really neeeed to see something, I can heighten my senses for a few hours by spending a SP.
For comparison, I will have about 3+Wis mod Spell Points, and those could be spent on other things as well.
As he gets more powerful, his abilities with his senses will also grow broader, gaining the ability to see ghosts, precognition, or maybe scent.
Aside from that, He will also have some abilities from the Warp sphere, as he moves super fast, War Sphere, as he gains combat focused bard buffs for his allies, maybe some Healing Sphere, and maybe Telekinesis Sphere as a way of subtly influencing the unseen environment around him. :) Depending on how many talents I have available.
Once I have a more concrete idea of what I am going, I will let you know the specifics of the different pieces of the SoP system I am using :)
Does a Blind Swordsman work?
DM Ragnarok |
The concept works just fine, but I will enact the normal penalties for blindness unless you use the talent. If you don't want to go SoP the regular Divine oracle with the Clouded Vision curse and the Battle mystery would also probably give you what you're looking for! Either way is okay with me though.
Valjoen_KC |
May I present: Vallenjös, the Viking/Crossblooded Tattooed Sorcerer
He's a frontline, heavy hitting striker with a good intimidation skill. His sorcery is focused on cold descriptor spells with a few buffs to be built in. His bloodlines are Silver Dragon and Elemental: Cold. I haven't finished picking up all his gear, but otherwise he's ready to go!
Valjoen_KC |
Also, Valjoen; Martial Mastery is not a feat under this system. I think you mean to take Weapon Focus Heavy Blades instead.
I was effectively treating it just like weapon focus, just didn't know what to call it. I'll edit the profile. And sounds good on Thassilonian as a restricted language. I'll find another or make an adjustment. Thanks for the feedback!

Here is my entrant: Hawkren 'Hawk' Hargraves
I'm still tweaking him a bit, but here are the guts:
Hailing from Varisia, Hawkren's childhood was spent running errands for the Sczarni when he wasn't running wild. Working day and night to support the family, his mother didn't have time to keep Hawkren in line. So he courted more than his fair share of trouble; he was implicated in a series break-ins, petty thefts, and other scandals that required his mother's considerable powers of persuasion to quiet... along with an agreement to send the young hellion where he could learn discipline (and stay out of the Constabulary's hair) - an isolated monastery in the foothills of the Mindspin Mountains. Hawk enjoyed the training he received, though he found the monastic life a bit boring. But the strange creatures that haunted the Mindspins and the impressive library in the monastery assuaged the tedium. And that may have remained the course of Hawkren's life - training, reading, and observing - had his sorcerous talents not emerged. But his powers did blossom and the brothers wisely sent Hawk out into the world to pursue his potential.
True to his Varisian soul, Hawk led a nomad's life, traveling from town to town searching for magical knowledge and working with other Sorcerers for short periods. Hawk came to realise that something in his blood made his magical practice very different from the norm (Empyreal Bloodline). It made working with most intuitive casters like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
Deciding to set a solitary path to learn his own unique brand of magic, Hawk moved on - whether guided by a tantalizing magical rumor, a vague legend, or the pursuit of some odd creature threatening a distant town. This became Hawk's 'migratory' pattern - study then move on again, again, and again. Over a period of years he traveled through Varisia, Nirmantha, Cheliax, and Nidal while pursuing his magical interests, shiny trinkets, and unconventional adventures. His mother has always said that life was a big circle if you lived long enough to see it... and she was right. So Hawk finds himself back in Varisia, chasing down rumors of lost Azlanti treasures and stumbling into Sandpoint at the commencement of the Swallowtail Festival.
5'10" 175lbs ; 25 years old
Hair/Eyes: Brown
Hawkren is a lean man. His sharp brown eyes shine out from a tan face framed by a goatee and laugh lines. His long brown hair ranges from 'free-roaming' to 'nicely combed but loose' when he's on the prowl for feminine company. But most of the time, it is pulled back into a serviceable - if unkempt - ponytail to keep it out of his face. His clothes peg him as a traveler. His worn leather boots give way to worn brown breeches which terminate at his one dash of flair. Slung around his hips is rumpled purple sash which sits below a faded leather belt from which a finely crafted three-sectioned staff sticks out at a rakish angle. His hands are covered by threadbare black fencing gloves with the fingertips removed and the edges hemmed. Hawkren's shirt is of common white cloth and sits below a loose grey woolen vest which is neatly held in place by a well-crafted bandolier that runs diagonally across his frame. Over one shoulder, rides a finely constructed leather backpack.
Concept: Skill Monkey and Sorcerer focused on gaining as many spells as possible to increase his utility (all my FCB bonuses will go to acquiring spells). Hawk isn't a stand-off caster. He is a sorcerer who uses his monk abilities to mix it up with enemies at close range to gain a tactical advantage and put his spells to best use.
Death-Lok |
Hey all, I am late to the party. :)
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2) + 6 = 16
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6) + 6 = 20
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6) + 6 = 18
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5) + 6 = 20
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1) + 6 = 12
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6) + 6 = 18
So that is: 14, 16, 17, 16, 11, and 17. I can definitely make something nice with those stats.
GM, I am thinking about a Gunslinger (Musket Master)/Diviner...how prevalent are firearms in the world?
DM Ragnarok |
Update;
I'm going to run two tables. Too many good characters.
I want a skill character, a divine caster and an arcane caster for each table. Obviously there'll be more to it than that, since you're gestalt, but that's the balance I want. Don't care if you're full casters or not.
I'm super busy this weekend so if we can get characters done sooner rather than later that would be preferable for me :)
Siobhan Sable |
Hey, going to throw my metaphorical hat into the ring here. I have a character who has been orphaned from about 3 RotR games now so would like to give her a go again.
Dice for Stats!
3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3) = 6 11
3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2) = 10 14
3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4) = 10 14
3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1) = 5 10
3d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6) = 14 17
3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3) = 12 15
Question for the GM - could I use the oracle curse 'Child'? It's 3PP but not horrendously over/under powered. I ask because I know its not something everyone is happy with.
I currently looking at an oracle/spiritualist, or possibly an oracle/vigilante. Siobhan has always been a shadow oracle so I'm looking at how to combine that flavourfully with something else. The spiritualist would enable her to actually manifest her possessing spirit usefully, the vigilante would be a way of allowing her to pretend to be a 'normal child' and conceal her general creepiness!
Have a look at the characters current background for her general idea. I'll tweak it when I know exactly what I'm statting up! :)
Siobhan Sable |
Glancing at the Child curse, that seems fine to me. I would prefer to have her aged somewhat, but that's not strictly necessary.
How do you mean? Are we talking a child around 11-12 or are you saying you'd prefer that I avoided the curse and just played at the bottom of the suggested ages? :)
Dodekatheon |
GM- I just downloaded Everyman Gaming's Unchained Monk archetypes. I'd like to take the Kata Master, if that's all right. Basically I give up Stunning Fist for Derring-do and Opportune Parry and Riposte and can use Unarmed Strike and Monk weapons in place of light or one-handed piercing weapons, and can use my Ki pool as Panache points.
Thoughts?
Siobhan Sable |
Hm I guess I read it incorrectly. You would take age penalties but still have the body of a child. It just says you cannot be magically aged.
Yeah, that's fine - I expected that I would take the normal penalties for being elderly, otherwise its kinda gamey! So many choices now... :D
Possible idea - Sio's phantom, when manifested, looks like her at her actual age, just somewhat insubstantial. I like the idea of a child casting spells while her angry, older self batters people!
