Finally got around to making the loot tracker. It's nothing fancy, but it should do the trick.

GM, I'm currently working on Johannes's equipment list, so it will be changing. Combat gear is already set, it's just mundane stuff that I'm outfitting with. I'm planning to go the MacGyver route with mundane equipment.

Also, this feat is definitely going on the list for the future.

Love it.

Traveling today, will post tomorrow. Apologies.

Ilysaria; I believe I have detected a build issue. Unless I am missing something, a whip is neither a light weapon nor a piercing weapon, and as such, your Seashbuckler Class abilities should not be functioning with a whip. Is there something I am missing? If not, I do have an easy solution that would not make you have to change much.

I took the feat Slashing Grace to allow Lys to use whips with her Swashbuckler class features.

This will be my first martially-inclined character (except for eidolons; they don't count), and I have to say, so far, I'm enjoying it. Lys might never hold a candle to Jian's damage output, but the mechanics are pretty interesting. I'm also glad I get to use a whip for all the nifty class features. ^^

Out of curiosity, though, what were you going to suggest in terms of rebuilding, DM Ragnarok?

Swashbucklers are fun, though they're not extremely powerful. If you like martials with a little bit more, you should definitely check out Dreasmcarred Press's Path of War.

There were two options. One was the Mysterious Avenger archetype, which gives you whips as weapons that Swashbucklers can use for their class stuff. The other option was to switch out a feat and get proficiency with the Scorpion Whip, which is a Light weapon.

I do think Swashbucklers are more powerful than they're given credit for. Getting their level to damage with Precise Strike and being able to parry things is pretty boss. And they get fighter Weapon Training...

Jian, you are the only one who hears this, and it's just barely; you hear the sound of snoring coming through the door. It sounds like multiple people but you can't tell.

Speaking of exploration, is this something Jian would have mentioned when he heard it? I wanted to suggest going back to that room, but didn't want to assume. =)

It is my assumption that during exploration, if one of you finds a thing (as long as your group is together), it is made known to the rest. If that is not the case, just let me know.

I'm sorry about the lack of posting on my part! Long story short, I live in coastal Miami and this last week has been eventful. Ended up having to evacuate to Georgia, then North Carolina when the storm hooked west. I had WiFi at the hotels, but whenever I tried to make a post I just couldn't get into the right mindset. But I'm back home now, and looking forward to resuming my regular posting habits.

The loot tracker has been updated to the best of my knowledge. If anyone spots anything wrong, feel free to let me know or edit it yourselves. I think I made it editable by anyone.

Completely understandable, so sorry you had to go through that. I hope very much that you and yours are all safe.

Thank you, DM Ragnarok. That means a lot to me. Everyone's fine! Even our home escaped the brunt of the storm.

About the pearl-handled dagger we recovered in the "trophy room", can I assume that it uses the same statistics as a regular dagger? 1d4, 19-20/X2?

Yes, it is a mundane dagger, though the ornamentation makes it more expensive than a normal dagger.

It looks interesting, but I've only seen one of the movies myself. And I wasn't even aware there was a d20 system for LOTR. I hope you receive plenty of applicants, though.

And thanks for linking the loot tracker at the top of the page!

It's actually not d20; different dice system. Weird but cool. And my pleasure :)

This is an update I'm posting to all my games.

Cameroon is currently experiencing some civil unrest, and I happen to be living just minutes from the border with the conflict zone. The government has shut off internet to that region, as they'd done in the past. Currently, I have access; that may change unexpectedly.

I would like to emphasize that I'm in no personal danger, but if I disappear for a little while, that's what's going on. I'm pretty mobile on weekends, so I absolutely should not be disappearing at any point for more than two weeks.

I will, thanks!

The whole situation is a lot more complicated than just language; that just happens to be the fault-line. It's got a lot to do with the cultural differences between those who were colonized by the British and those colonized by the French. If you'd like more info, feel free to PM me, but I'm not really at liberty to go spewing my personal views on a conflict I have no part in that's been going on much longer than I've been alive, into a public space.

Hello everyone,
Quick update on posting; I had some close friends and family at the concert in Las Vegas that were injured in the attack. They will recover just fine but I've just gotten back driving them back from Vegas, and am going to spend the next couple of days making sure they have everything they need.

I might get a post up tomorrow if I find myself with some time but if not, regular updates will resume on Monday.

To keep the game going, Johannes, I'll bot you after 24 hours of inactivity from you. Glad to hear that you're in no danger though.

As far as the Vegas stuff goes, I appreciate your thoughts, my friends. All is as well as can be expected.

Johannes, while I was doing some attack stuff for your character, I noticed something; as a level 3 Rogue with Finesse Training, you may choose one type of Finesse Weapon. With that weapon, when dealing damage, you add your Dexterity Modifier rather than your strength modifier. You get to pick another one at I think UnRogue 11 (both rapier and tank whoooooo!!!). That should help your damage output significantly!

Simply select which one you want to hit harder with and update your sheet accordingly sir :)

Jian:
Jiminy Christmas! I think I know what class I'm to try next... I've been interested in making a Jabbing Style monk before (I favor Dex-based builds when it comes to martials), but you've inspired me, Jian. I think I'll to go Ascetic Style. Urumi is out, though; on principle, I can't have a character wielding a weapon I had to Google to find out what it is. Right now I'm thinking of using Weapon Adept & the Versatile Design modification to make a katana a monk weapon. A little more feat-intensive, but the damage and critical range are the same as an Urumi.

How are you to able to grab Ascetic Form before level 5, though?

@DM Ragnarok Good to know! By the way, Lys's Perception modifier has increased by two (to +10). +1 skill rank and +1 for getting Wisdom to 16.

And the loot tracker has been updated! I snagged the cloak of resistance +1 seeing as I had the lowest saves, but only by a total of +1, so if you'd rather have this one Jian, go ahead. It is on your wish list, after all. ;)

I believe you; stuff happens. I'm not worried about it; frankly, we've been breezing through the dungeon and it's kinda scary. I'm almost considering lobbying for the original version of the fight.

Funny you should mention that. I was actually after this dungeon going to do a bit of a postmortem with you guys and check in.

This dungeon was quite easy, I am aware. I was using it mostly as a metric to see how I'm going to have to adjust content moving forward to challenge you. I have a good sense of how your characters work together now and should be able to have challenging fights lined up moving forward. We're also, after this, going to be moving to a more free-form style of campaign; ROTRL is extremely linear but there's a bunch of optional content that I'm adding in. I prefer more of a sandbox-y approach to my games.

Glad to hear you're alright, Johannes.

DM, I agree that the dungeon has been pretty easy, but we've also had a lot of lucky rolls, had surprise rounds and won initiative most of the time, and most of our enemies have been goblins. That said, I completely trust your judgement about ramping up the difficulty setting. I'm looking forward to the changes you have in store for us.

Always getting surprise round with characters that can get in big hits definitely does make things easier. I'm a fan of the troop subtype myself, but those aren't typically appropriate until mid-game.

Sandbox sounds good! This is by far the most efficient dungeon-crawl I've seen on PbP, so kudos for that. I'm sure it takes extra effort on your part, but comparative dungeons have taken months to get through in other games.

Dude, quit reading my mind :p

That was issue the second I was going to raise. As you say, the pace has been pretty blistering fast for a PbP. It is a bit of extra work, but the flip side, as I see it, is this; I am essentially fast forwarding through non-relevant rooms and I am making some rolls and assumptions about group movement on your behalf. This could be seen as taking away some of your agency as players, which I'm not about at all. So I wanted to check in and make sure that the way we've been doing it works for you guys, and if not, what you'd like to see changed.

Second time's the charm, I guess. Between constantly getting logged out and my tablet randomly restarting, I've lost I don't know how many posts today.
