Millsy continues to snap at the elemental careful not to hit the creature, just enough to provide openings for Carrakas.

He only does thus if he notices that other times people have moved into range it didn't attack them. (provoking AOO from reach)
I never provoked because I stepped in 10 feet out to heal Jaed, and then made a 5 foot step next turn to move in closer, so you wouldn't have noticed it from me.

As the fire elemental dodges blow after blow from the various creatures, it makes a move to strike at Finnrick as he starts to move closer. Just at that moment Millsy and Jaed team up to trip the creature, causing it to fall right into Carrakas' might swing. As the elemental's flames begin to disperse, he seems surprisingly unfazed, letting out a crackling laugh as it returns to the plane of fire.
Combat over. Feel free to do any healing or anything else that you want.
After a brief moment of rest, the group then moves on, continuing north for several minutes. Occasionally glimpses of some light source can be seen far off in the distance, the light being carried an unusually long distance by the reflective gold covering everything. However, just as quickly as it appears, it seems to disappears. The direction of the source seems to vary, meaning either the cultists you're following have split up or there are more things than just them in these ruins. Despite this, the short walk is uninterrupted. Soon the group is gazing upon another intersection just like the first. An identical channel untouched by gold encloses another 50 ft square area. The road continues once again in all the cardinal directions, more ruins sitting quietly at each corner where once buildings stood.

DM Puppet Master |

Xin Grafar map is the map you saw in the room right before you entered the city.

DM Puppet Master |

This time before stepping in to the square, Jaed manages to spot the runes carved into the channel surrounding it. The group avoids the square entirely, moving off the road and through the remains of that part of the city to bypass it. A couple of times various people could swear they see movement out of the corner of their eye, but each time they turn to look they are greeted with just shadows. It's a relief to get back on the road with at least some large, open area serving as a buffer from the group what whatever may lie in the shadows.
The walk is shorter this time as the group comes to where the map had shown a bridge crossing the canals. However, what remains only goes a few dozen feet before breaking off. Evidently some time between when the map was made and now the bridge had been destroyed. Given that the map had also shown beautiful, blue water in the canals, it was likely from before the city had been taken by Tar-Baphon.

Carrakas |

If the gap is 30ft or less, I could Blade Rush across. Could I Blade Rush with someone on my back? I could play ferry again.

Jaed Zandorias |

"So... any engineers in the room that know how to rebuild a bridge?"
One more question. Is there something on the other side (statue or similar) that we could lasso with the rope?

DM Puppet Master |

The distance from the edge of the bridge to the other side looks to be more than 30 feet. There also does not seem to be any obvious pillars or statues to lasso.

Carrakas |

Carrakas shakes his head. "Not much of an engineer, I'm afraid. Looks too big to jump, too. Should we circle around to the west instead?"

Jaed Zandorias |

"I suppose so. I don't see any other options. And if we find some nice cultists we could even ask for directions."

Not seeing a clear way to cross the broken bridge, the group circles back West, carefully avoiding the intersection once again. The group had been walking for several minutes, and it was just beginning to look like the random lights and moving shadows were all tricks of the eye when a sudden clanging of shields and weapons resounds as a pack of flaming, gold-plated skeletons bearing golden scimitars rise up from the nearby ruins and advance.

-2 AC for the round

DM Puppet Master |

Forgot to mention, the reason why I didn't include a knowledge spoiler for these guys is because they're the same as the burning skeletons you fought in the forest, if that was unclear.
Carrakas manages to easily smash the burning skeleton in front him, which then promptly explodes in a burst of fire just like in the forest, though his elemental resistances once again protect him from damage. Fire: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Finnrick pulls out his sling and attempts to hit one of the skeletons before it has a chance to move closer, but the rock bounces harmlessly off of its armor. Millsy takes up a defensive stance next to him. Total defense for +4 to AC
Sling: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Two of the remaining four skeletons charge forward to attack Jaed and Millsy respectively while the other two move closer.
Skeleton 1 vs AC 20: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 + 2 = 19
Skeleton 2 vs Millsy AC 22: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 2 = 24
Skeleton 2 confirm: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 2 = 20
Millsy damage: 1d4 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 2 + (4) = 9
While Jaed manages to evade his attacker, Millsy isn't lucky and only her preparation prevents it from being a truly terrible strike. A faint sizzle can be heard from both as the heat from the skeletons sizzle the hair on the two.
Fire damage Jaed: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Fire damage Millsy: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Any joy the two skeletons feel at burning their prey is short lived as soon they feel the sting of positive energy as Marzela touches her holy symbol and concentrates on bringing the light of Sarenrae to this dark, underground cavern. With a screech, the both shudder and start to look on the verge of collapsing.
Will 1 DC 15: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Will 2 DC 15: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Summary
- Carrakas killed one skeleton
- Marzela greviously wounded two other skeletons
- Jaed took 4 fire damage
- Millsy took 5 regular damage and 7 fire damage
Lily has her surprise round action and then Jaed, Finnrick, and Carrakas have their Round 1 actions.
I'm also expecting posting to be slow since it's Thanksgiving, so I'll either update when everyone has posted their actions or give people until Sunday. Happy Turkey Day to the Americans out there, and Happy Thursday/Friday depending on your time zone to the non-Americans.

Carrakas |

Carrakas grins as the skeleton drops easily at his feet. "I like these guys!" He gathers earth into him again, gathering his strength. Then he'll take a small step closer to the skeleton attacking Millsy, and another long hammer forms in his hands. He aims carefully, trying to make sure the skeleton doesn't hit the cat again.
Gather Power for my move action, 5-foot-step to get within 10 feet of the skeleton, then use Kinetic Whip to form a reach weapon and attack the skeleton
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Damage, bludgeoning: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2, 2) + 6 = 11
He swings his hammer around, and keeps a close eye on the other three skeletons. "Come on then, bags-o-bones!"
Kinetic Whip sticks around, allowing me to use it for any AOOs, and it can attack at both 5 and 10 feet, so I should get to take a swing at any that come near me!

Jaed Zandorias |

Yeah, and I hate skeletons.
Not waiting any longer, Jaed attacks the skeleton next to him before taking a step back.
Right sword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Left sword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Jaed definitely doesn't like skeletons...

Marzela |

Marzela moves so that she will affect all the skeletons this time and channels to harm undead again.
Channel to harm undead: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1) = 10
She hopes they can finish them off with that, because she is worried they will need her channels for healing later.
Who's that guy crouching behind the rubble on the map?

Finnrick |

Millsy was weary before but having been attacked she only wamts to take them out.
trip: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
I believe I have been doing trip wrong this whole time. I think I can either attack or trip, not both. The trip feature only means that I don't take a penalty. Also do you get an AOO on my trip?
Finnrick however continues to fire his sling.
sling: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 5 - 4 = 5
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

DM Puppet Master |

Will DC 13 Turn undead: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
@Finnrick: No, you were doing the trip correct. See trip description. Also, since Carrakas killed that skeleton before Millsy went, I went ahead an moved her next to a different skeleton to try to trip.
@Marzela: That's your ol' smelly, pal, who's been silently following behind everybody. The last time he was in a dark place, he was told to be quiet, so he's being quiet. Also, I undid your move since you posted early and it would have been unnecessary after the skeletons moved closer. So you still have a move action if you wish to take it.
Lily channels her energy, attempting to get the one skeleton near her to flee. It, however, resists her will and merely gnashes its teeth together. It looks very menacing until Carrakas moves forward and smashes the already badly damaged skeleton in to shreds. Seeing her would-be target taken down, Millsy runs towards the skeleton that Jaed is trying valiantly to fight in vain. Just as Jaed steps back, she runs forward and trips the creature, who lands soundly on its bony behind as Finnrick's rock sails far over its head.
The skeleton then immediately stands up (This would provoke from Millsy, but I don't think she's capable of doing enough damage to kill it and Marzela's channel ends up killing it anyway). and attempts to claw at her, raking her side with its fiery talons.
Claw vs AC 18: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 2 + (3) = 7
Meanwhile its other two buddies charge in, one moving to join its companion fighting Millsy and the other heading towards Carrakas.
Claw vs Millsy: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 + 2 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (3) = 6
Claw vs Carrakas: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 2 = 24
Confirm: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 2 = 5
Regular damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4, Fire damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Both skeletons manage to get a hit on their targets, but one seems to do significantly more damage than the other. Nevertheless, heat washes over both from their flaming auras.
Fire Millsy: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Fire Carrakas: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Seeing the creatures are now closer, Marzela once again focuses to channel positive energy at them.
Will saves DC 15: 3d20 ⇒ (9, 12, 13) = 34
Summary
- Carrakas and then Marzela both kill a skeleton
- Millsy takes 15 damage
- Carrakas takes, I believe it ends up being just 1 damage from the claw attack.
Rest of the party is up

Carrakas |

Don't I get an AOO on the Skeleton as it comes in range of me, since I have reach right now? When it moves from 10 ft away to 5 ft away, it is moving within my threat area, right?

Jaed Zandorias |

"Millsy, be careful!" Even if he does not like fighting skeletons, the rogue quickly moves to the opposite side of their foe. He trusts that his reflexes will save him from a possible attack from the creature. Using Acrobatics (and the Belt of Tumbling) to avoid the AOO from the skeleton:
1d20 + 14 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 14 + 4 = 33
Once he gets to his destination Jaed attacks the skeleton.
Sword: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 10 + 2 = 27
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Sneak attack: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2) = 5
If that hits, the skeleton becomes disoriented taking a -2 penalty on attack rolls and an additional -2 penalty on all attack rolls it makes against the rogue.

Carrakas |

Carrakas laughs as the skeleton closes ranks with him.
Before the skeleton can get too close, the tiefling takes the opening to hit it with his large hammer.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Damage, bludgeoning: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3) + 6 = 15
Growling at the persistent skeleton, Carrakas gathers his power in to him, and forms his hammer again for another blow.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Damage, bludgeoning: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3) + 6 = 14
Seeing just one more foe remaining, Carrakas gathers his power, then shoots forward 25ft toward the last remaining skeleton, appearing next to Millsy as he brings his hammer down.
Attack, blade rush: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 2 = 17
Damage, bludgeoning: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4) + 6 = 16

DM Puppet Master |

@Carrakas: Ah yes, I had forgotten you had a whip. Yes, you would get an AoO and that actually kills it, negating the whooping 1 damage you took, haha.
Jaed nimbly ducks around the last skeleton. Once on the other side, he aims carefully, seeking out a vital spot on the skeleton. He thrusts at it, and though he strikes the creature, the skeleton turns at the last moment, causing its armor to absorb much of the damage. Sneak attack was negated Meanwhile Carrakas dashes forward once again, still high off of his 3 for 3 re-killing streak, he smashes the final skeleton, causing it to crumple to the ground.
Combat over. Feel free to post any healing or anything else you wish to do before moving on.
@Lily: Undo your last turn undead usage since both skeletons got killed before your turn.
After gathering themselves together, the group continues along their path, reacting yet another intersection. It's set up the exact same way as the other two, with a large 50 foot square and a small, gold-less channel forming the border.
Xin grafar map updated

Jaed Zandorias |

@Marzela: The broken bridge is the one at 12 o'clock, the only one that connects to the center. We started in the South and proceeded clockwise. We have almost completed a full circle and we did no see a way to get to the inner ring.
Aware that they have almost come back to where they started, and out of ideas, Jaed turns to the smelly (and almost forgotten) Dusan Dremlock.
"Have you been here before? Do you know a way to cross to the upper ring?"

DM Puppet Master |

You started at the Southern-most part of the circle. At the first intersection you decided to head North. When you reached the second intersection, you headed East, which is counter-clockwise, not clockwise. You then met the broken bridge, and my understanding is that you wanted to head back West/clockwise. I've added some more annotations to the Xin Grafar map to hopefully make things more clear, but you've only traveled about a 1/4 of the way around the circle (a little more than that since you had to backtrack due to a broken bridge). 1/2 way around is where there's a road that's supposed to lead to the second/middle circle.
@Jaed: If you were talking about the red line going from the green segment to the blue one, that's in the second ring and y'all are still in the first one. Each ring is separated from the rest by a floor-to-ceiling wall and the roads approaching the second ring/wall stop short except for the one previously mentioned as being 1/2 way around the ring. You could try checking the wall to the second ring, but thus far you've mostly been sticking to the road. Or at least, that's what I thought you were trying to do.

Carrakas |

Those annotations are very helpful, thanks!
Carrakas examines the bridge for traps or any signs of weakness or collapse.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
"I should probably head across first, just in case any more statues decide to appear..."
If nobody objects, and if there are no signs of traps/damage, Carrakas will begin to head across the bridge.

Jaed Zandorias |

Oops. Yep, I meant counter-clockwise. And I thought we went all the way North which was our target destination. So sorry for the confusion. Now the map is more clear and we can continue with our original plan. Either way, Jaed will still ask Dusan if we knows a safe way to the center.
Jaed will follow close to Carrakas when everyone is ready.

DM Puppet Master |

Dusan snorts. "Safe? Nothing safe here. The Darkness is every where. Best bet is to hide and mask self like I have done. That way they think you're dead, yes. But not too dead. Too dead gets eaten. Just the right amount of dead."
You were also told that the entrance to Xin Grafar was sealed, so unless Dusan also happens to have a key like the cultists did, he would never have been down here.
The group once again skirts around the square, avoiding stepping in to it, and continues on their way, now heading North thanks to the curving of the road. Soon you all reach where the road meets another channel of molten gold. Luckily, this bridge seems to be intact and in good condition. Like the first bridge you crossed, there are no signs of gold on the inside. Though unlike the first one, there do not appear to be any statues or remnants of statues. There do not appear to be any traps.

Approaching the bridge, the temperature rises as before, stopping just short of becoming intolerable for all but Carrakas, who doesn't seem especially bothered. As the group reaches the other side, there's a sudden blur of movement as something charges at Jaed. There's a flash of gold as a longspear is thrust at the rogue's chest. Though the blow lands, his uncanny ability to react to danger causes him to jerk to one side, lessening the blow to a certain degree.

Jaed moves closer, striking at the creature with his sword. There's a soft crackling as the blow strikes. The babau gives out a low chuckle as it takes a step away from the rogue and promptly disappears.
There's a brief moment of confusion before Marzela calls out that he seems to be in the ruins to the South. Unless you have lowlight or darkvision, the babau is currently in a dimly-lit area, meaning you have a 20% miss chance of hitting it. Currently your only light source is Jaed, with Finnrick's spell on him. So...I think that means the only effect is if Jaed tries to use a ranged weapon since I think he's the only one with normal vision.

Finnrick |

Seeing how hurt Millsy is Finnrick sends her away and then begins to cast a spell.

Jaed Zandorias |

Sorry, I forgot to move Jaed on the map. The idea was to move to the East to where the babau originally was and attempt to flank it during the next turn. But it does not matter anymore after it teleported.
