Moar Mappity

Randall, you'd have to move up to it first, so you'd be limited to beginning a CDG (full-round action) or taking a single attack. Which would you like to do?

Asht'el: indeed, it really ought to have been. :)

Female Kobold Skirmisher Ranger 5/Bard 8 — HP 87/87 (74/74) | AC 21 (FF 16/T 15) | CMD 24 | Fort +7, Ref +13, Will +7 | Perc +4| Init +7 (+9 underground) | Sense Motive +20

Make sure to include Inspire Courage modifiers, Randall (& co). Randall, you can't coup de grace from there, but you can start the coup de grace and complete it on your next turn (one standard this round, one standard the next). :P

Xiddik skirts in front of Firiel and lays a hand on Jametor. Her scaly fingers glow with power, and for a moment they seem to be a few inches from where they really are. Then the power transfers to Jametor, and his form shifts just a little to the left.

Xiddik pulls back as the tune takes on a light, carefree tone wholly inappropriate to the giant spider situation at hand.

Cast Defensively: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Jametor is now under the effects of displacement. Note that this does not count as concealment for the purposes of being immune to AoOs.

Nonaction: 5' step to S2. Standard Action: Cast displacement.

Would that be the paralyzed one? A coup de grace, like Randall was planning, might be more effective. We're talking a DC 50ish Fortitude save.

I'm not saying Njord needs to take that tactic (it might not be his style), just making sure you recognize it as an option. :P

Male Elf--Drow (Jamleus) Wizard 14| HP 80/80 | AC 15 | T 15 | FF 11 | CMD 22 | Fort +7 | Ref +10 | Will +11 | Init +4 | Perc +20 | Sense Motive +18 |Effects: Mage Armor +4 AC

Closest to Njord is the other spider, not saying that's the one to attack, but it is the one right in front of him.

Oh, I thought for some reason that B1 was the paralyzed one. I guess I wasted that Concentration check, then?

HP: 51/76

Fíriel's wound begins to smell as well, but the rot seems to be progressing more slowly than in Jametor's case. The little halfling grits her teeth and sends a hastily-conjured snowball flying toward the frozen spider, intent on freezing it further.

B2 is the paralyzed one. Xiddik, I put you in S6, since S2 is 25' away and also off the map.

1d20 ⇒ 12

Njord manages to land one blow against his foe, though the damage seems significantly less than such a strike ought to have inflicted. Fíriel's snowball hits home hard as well.

Jametor and Randall?

Randall moves in to try to take advantage of the creature's vulnerable state, attacking an apparent joint in its carapace.

Moar Mappity

Just wanted to get confirmation on which you wanted to do.

Randall's blade hits home, though once again it doesn't seem quite as effective as could be hoped. The wound is enough, though, that the creature manages to shake off Quilindra's spell. Its partner tears into Njord with its teeth, then rears up and slices at him with clawed legs!

Xiddik carefully wades to the other side of the spider, pulling its attention away from Randall.

Maintain song, total defense, and move to X6. Randall is now flanking. Your call on whether Randall gets to assume I did that before his action for SA purposes. Though for what it's worth, Xiddik's initiative is 1 point higher than Randall's right now. ;D

Xiddik needs a Fort save, DC 23, or take 2 points of Con damage.

Asht'el's fiery bolts scorch his target badly while Njord's teeth and claws find purchase in the other. Randall manages a significant wound on his foe thanks to Xiddik's distraction, though the brave kobold pays dearly for her action as the massive spider nearly bites her in half. Fíriel takes advantage of the creature's distraction, too, slapping it on the leg with magical electricity.

The way its legs curl in on it in its death throes give Jametor the last bit of information he needs to identify it as a "bebilith": a predator from the Abyss, evolved for the hunting and slaying of demons.

The remaining bebilith roars in the group's minds and tears into Njord once again, ignoring its wounds in its great anger.

Seeing the kobold's courageous action and the enormous spider's lightning-fast reaction, Randall knows he has to honor her sacrifice even as he hopes she survives. As the spider collapses in on itself, he rushes around the gigantic corpse as he reaches for a healing potion, just hoping there's enough of the little bard remaining to pour it into.

His relief is obvious to find her angry and wet, but alive. Especially when he realizes he has no healing to offer. "Well done, my friend. Will you be OK?"

I just noticed this. How did you get ahold of a CL 2 CMW potion?

It matters because if Jametor wasn't able to drink his potion last round, and if I'm not able to act before he does, he's at -11 and one Con check from death. :P

I am 20' up, which is not ideal. Isn't a CMW potion, have to be a CL2, since that requires at least that much to cast the spell itself?

Oh, right, you flew up. Dang. Then Xiddik will wait for Jametor to hit the ground (wait, does unconsciousness cause you to fall in magical flight?) before casting the spell. And no, CMW has to be CL 3. I don't know of any class that gains Cure Moderate Wounds at second level.

So, uh, try to make the save. :P

Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Jametor floats to the ground, still a bit wobbly.

does that make the save?

Female Halfling Rog 3 / Sorc 4 / AT 7 [ HP 94/94 (0 NL) | AC 21 Tch 17 FF 16 | Fort +9* Ref +16* Will +14* | CMD 21 | Init +5 | Perc +16 | Effects: none ]

Last round...
Fort: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

This round...
Fort: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

HP: 27/52

Fíriel doesn't really have anything useful to do at this point, so she'll just keep an eye out for bad guys.

Moar Mappity

Njord killed it with his full-attack.

Jametor: It would, but... the 23 wouldn't have with your -1. Rather difficult to retcon it now since you would have immediately been at -8 and floated to the ground... and that probably would've changed other people's actions. I'm not sure what to do here... I'm open to you guys' suggestions.

Party's still up.

Who else's actions would it change? Firiel's the only character who's acted this round.

Were-Njord sniffs at the festering wound in his furry flesh and wrinkles his ursine bear in disgust. He digs one of the flasks from Njord's pack and swallows it whole.

Heroism!

Fort: 1d20 + 14 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 14 - 1 + 2 = 24

Njord, keep in mind we have to save before we can act. You don't get that Heroism bonus.
