Ok, I'll move along back to Sandpoint.
The bow is a small-sized masterwork composite long bow (strength +1).
Hiro Takemashi
Small Longbow is 1d6 everything else works the same as a standard one.
Don't forget the -2 penalty for a Medium person using a weapon sized for a Small person.
Hiro Takemashi

I have a super-busy weekend, I'll check in as soon as I can, but if I can't post 'til Monday, fear not! I am just . . . super-busy. :)
Hiro Takemashi
No worries, DM Jesse!
Would you like for us to handle our equipment purchases off-camera, or in the IC thread?
DM Jesse Heinig
Whatever suits you! You are mostly Sandpoint locals so you may know some of the local merchants, too, if you want to make an amusing scene of it.
Kaijitsu Kenji
My problem is that I don't know what kinda gear to get for a kineticist. Might have to start dipping monk after this or something. :/

Probably not a bad idea!
At this level you're kind of in the "wealth gap" where you don't have enough money for magic items or armor made of special materials. A wand of cure light wounds is a great stopgap that will let Lyraesel continue to concentrate on tearing things up.
Also, don't overlook the value of the occasional bit of alchemical gear. Alchemist's fire does some pretty decent damage for low-level encounters, plus it's fantastic if you are unlucky enough to encounter a swarm. Holy water might be good if you run into undead, since you don't have a typical cleric or warpriest.
Check out some of the stuff on the list for tools and alchemical supplies and weapons. Hiro's harpy musk, for instance, was a great cheap purchase that counted quite a bit during the goblin battle.
Hiro Takemashi
Okay, so a Wand of Cure Light Wounds costs 750 gp. If we all chip in 150 gp, that will leave each of us 59 gp, 6 sp from the sale of the treasure. I'm willing to chip in 150 gp if everyone else is!
Lyraesel
Most GM's I know allow buying uses ones with either half or quarter of full capacity. Never know when an adventurer chooses to hang it up and sell his stuff.
DM Jesse Heinig
Father Zantus over at the cathedral can dig up one with:
Partially charged wand of cure light wounds: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27
DM Jesse Heinig
(A 27-charge wand would be 405 gp, if you wanna go that route.)
Hiro Takemashi
Let's do that. We each chip in 81 gp, leaving each of us 128 gp, 6 sp.
I'll have my equipment list together tomorrow.
DM Jesse Heinig
Ok, that means Hiro's visiting the temple, then the market lane (or vice versa). We can play that out in the Gameplay thread if you're into Shopping RP, or handwave it if you prefer.
DM Jesse Heinig
Incidentally, folks, I've read (but not confirmed empirically) that there's a tendency for many PbP campaigns here to fizzle out after the first or second encounter. You've made it through two -- Walthus and his shapechanging nemesis, and the goblin village -- and are getting ready to tackle who-knows-what next, so I'd say we're in pretty good shape! :D
Thanks everyone for continuing to participate!

Considering I'm in a game that's approaching 30,000 posts and I've been in it since day one, I don't think you have too much to worry about. heh.
Jinda Copperflask
Feeling good about the game other than level 1 caster woes.
Yes, I'll pitch in for a wand, either full or partial.
Would there be any spellbooks in town that I could copy from?

Beatin' the odds there!

Sandpoint is remarkably cosmopolitan for a town of its modest size (1,240 people).
Headmaster Ilsoari Gandethus is the resident instructor at the Turandarok Academy, which is essentially the town's public schoolhouse and orphanage. Ilsoari is a former adventurer who dabbled in wizardry, and there are any number of outrageous rumors about what he keeps stored in the basement (he has a contract with the town council that allows him personal use of the basement in exchange for his tutelary services).
Jinda Copperflask
I've run the Rise of the Runelords, so am quite familiar with the town, but I don't want to step on toes. Also as I've never looked over the Jade Regent materials and there might be changes.
I don't want to over RP the shopping stuff, but I'd like to add a few spells to my spellbook if possible.

Ok, let's move toward getting the swamp mapped out and dealing with the horrors therein. Headmaster Gandethus is only a 4th-level wizard, so he may have . . . let's say four spells that Jinda may find interesting; after that you'll need to find another source, whether scrolls from hoards or by going to a larger city. Standard rates apply!
DM Jesse Heinig
Floating Disk - 15g
Unseen Servant - 15g
Crafter's Fortune - 15gWere the spells I'd be interested in at this point.
Sounds reasonable. Since Ilsoari is now a settled town wizard he probably focuses more on utility magic than battle magic anyway, which is great when you're goin' looking for those kinds of spells.
Let's say that Ilsoari charges you the same rate for the privilege of copying the spells, disguised as a "donation to the orphanage," so basically you pay 15 for the spell + 15 to copy to your book in each case. Not terrible. Jinda's fairly well known locally so Ilsoari is at least willing to deal with him equitably. :)

And thank you, DM Jesse! Jade Regent is an AP I've wanted to play for a long time, and you're doing a great job with it. I'm in for as long as you are!
Jinda Copperflask
Scribe costs are 10g for level 1 spells. Typically you pay 50% for access to spell books, I'd be happy to pay 10 as a donation to the orphanage. In effect costing my 20g a spell.

Fair deal. I looked up the scribing costs in the PRD and was wondering where the extra 5 gp came from, but I got interrupted at the office and wound up losing my train of thought. Let's go ahead and roll with it and then if nobody else has anything to play out in town we'll head back to the swamps for one more run!
DM Jesse Heinig
Did the party want to stop in at Walthus (the swamp halfling)'s house first, or just start methodically mapping the swamp?
Did you have a particular route in mind, like following a road 'til it ends, or just going back and forth across the swamp valley?
Hiro Takemashi
Sure, let's map the new fishing trail to Walthus' house first, and then map the old fishing trail toward the goblin village. We can take the spur off of the old fishing trail that leads to the top of the cliffs, and get a decent aerial view of the marsh to help us figure out where to map next. Would it be possible to travel all along the top of the cliff to map that part of the marsh boundary?
DM Jesse Heinig
Sounds like a plan. Let me see if I can fiddle with the map and give you a sort of partial version based on what your characters have already visited.
