HP updated. Just realised I have invisibility, so I can turn invisible, approach Travigan and heal him. That's probably a better use of my time than trying to slug it out with the orc while he dies.

Orc Warband - Round 6 - continued

Fleeing away from the enlarged orc leader, Crux fires a blast from his wand of force missiles at the leader. The unerring accuracy of the missiles holds true, as it smashes into the large orc who emits a roar of pain.

The now-wounded orc leader rushes forward, looking to down the still seriously wounded Tina before she can lob another bomb. The axe cleaves the poor alchemist again, spilling her life-blood on the ground, as she once again falls unconscious from her wounds.

Purple Orc roused from his sleep by the slash damage from Tina's bomb, pulls himself to his feet, and spends the round picking up his gear.

Marnos is up next with White Orc right on top of him.

Marnos steps back from the oncoming orc 5' step and mutters a quick incantation, grinning cheekily and giving the orc a brief wave goodbye before vanishing casts invisibility- standard action. Once invisible, he starts making his way towards Travigan, carefully avoiding any orcs on the way. Move action towards Travigan

Orc Warband - Round 6 - concluded

Stepping back and blinking out of sight, Marnos leaves the White Orc warrior behind as moves in the direction of the still-bleeding Travigan.

The half-elf's sudden disappearance leaves only the disabled wizard visible on the battlefield. Red Orc snatches up his war-axe and heads towards Crux.

Orc Shaman moves back to his still sleeping soldiers and will try to rouse the rest in the next round.

Convinced he is being tricked, White Orc swings his axe in a series of ever-widening arcs as he tries to zero in on where the smiling inquisitor has gotten to.

End of round 6

Travigan needs another stabilize roll when possible.

As the orcs start to close in on poor Crux, an ear-splitting shriek sounds from the sky as a trio of hippogriff-riding Sable Marines dives from the clouds into the unsuspecting orcs.

Bursting down, with lances that gleam in the sunshine, the heroes of Korvosa begin to ride down the orcs. Purple Orc is cleft from his feet by the lance and sharp beak of the hippogriff and rider, while the Shaman and Red Orc are dealt serious, if not mortal, wounds as well.

Amidst all this chaos, Crux is up again, barely hanging on to consciousness.

Orc Warband - Round 7 - continued

As Travigan finally begins to stabilize, the tide of the battle has shifted. Crux fires another magic missile into the orc leader who now sees his forces outgunned after thinking he had a victory in hand. The force missile slams into the leader and he starts to call for a withdrawal of his forces. The wizard readies a curative spell as his legs are trembling from the wounds and excitement of the fight.

Still unconscious, Tina doesn't seem to realize the battle is shifting as her blood still flows into the ground.

Orc Chief, knowing when to call it, blows a signal whistle around his neck, and starts to withdraw.

Need stabilize check from Tina also. Marnos, still invisible, is up now.

Marnos invisibly moves to the fallen Tina's side, using his healing magic to staunch her serious wounds. He recognizes that she is stabilized at least, even if she isn't exactly conscious yet.

Set upon by the Sable Marines, Red Orc quickly withdraws, leaving the immediate area of the battle.

Orc shaman steps back from the airborne attacker and casts a spell which creates a cloud of fog, intended to cover his retreat.

White Orc also retreats as fast as he can from the eastern edge of the map, heading back towards the stream that marks the edge of civilized lands.

Orc Warband - Round 8 -continued

Seeing that Tina is stable at last, Crux is not prepared to give up the fight, and he sends another blast from his wand. The force blast strikes the orc chieftain once again, staggering, but not dropping him.

Tina, still unconscious, is at least safe (for now) from death.

Enveloped in the fog cloud, one of the Sable Marines seaches for the shaman, while another dives into the thick fog attempting to flank the caster, but neither can find him in the soupy air and their attacks fail. The third rider spurs his mount straight at the enlarged orc boss, hoping to take him down. That rider does score a direct hit, his lance impaling the super-sized orc and dropping him to the ground unconscious.

Orc Warband - Round 8 - concluded

Marnos continues using his healing wand to minister to the injuries of Tina, who finally does start to come around.

Travigan continues to be unconscious, unaware he is in a cloud of fog...

The orc shaman, using the concealment of the cloud, is able to escape the battlefield without being caught by the Marines. His escape effectively ends the fighting.

End of Combat

By my count the Wand has 5 charges left (started with 7). Will still need some healing to get Travigan upright again. The fight didn't end your way, but you still earned some XP's for it. Downing the orc leader, and 3 of the braves earns you 350xp per player. This brings your cumulative total to 7603/10000 or about 40% to next level.

Tina painfully sits up. Ughh.is that my spleen on the ground? Oh why did I do that?

Tina staggers up and looks around.

Choosing not to pursue the scattered and leaderless orcs, the trio of Sable Marines alight on the ground, and begin to dismount. Once they have made it to the ground, they march over.

"Are you alright?" asks the sergeant to Tina. "What were you thinking engaging an orc warband. The reports of their raids in this area have grown. We were just overflying after checking on a false trail in Harse and stumbled upon you. Your good luck I guess. Is that man okay?" The sergeant points at the unmoving form of Travigan sprawled on the ground and begins to move that direction.

I'd say back to Goodwill so we can return their horses, yeah?

F Human Alchemist 4 HP 31/31 Per+9 F7R6W3 AC16T12FF14 Init+2

well, most of them.

With one horse killed in the battle, Tina jumps one with one of the boys, and they set out for Goodwill Ranch.

The Sable Marines see you safely away before half-heartedly pursuing the orc survivors across the creek and back into the wild. As they depart, they ask you "Have any of you seen the regicide woman Trinia Sabor? We have reason to believe she may have fled to this area, and we were on patrol for her or her accomplices when we spotted your trouble. If you see her, give a shout, eh?" The sergeant winks knowing you'l return the solid favor if given a chance.

After a short but tiring ride back to the ranch, the gate keepers let you in without a squabble this time. Goodwill himself comes out to the gate to see you in. "Tarnation! Looks like you lot took a good beating. Hope you gave better'n you got!"

Trinia stops and sees each of you tending to your wounds as best she can,s still thankful for the effort you made on her behalf in bringing her all the way to Harse.

Soon, all the heroes are fed and asleep, ready to see what the trip back to Korvosa brings.

Everyone can take or pocket a potion of CLW. That plus the day's rest should help restore some very low HP totals. Go ahead and roll and provide your updated value.

After a good night's rest and some doses of healing magic, the party is mostly ready to set out back for Korvosa. The road out of Harse is uneventful, which is good after yesterday's fiasco. The trek is long and it's nearly nightfall before you reach the inn in the middle of the way.

There, you see travelers who are leaving Korvosa, seemingly a lot of them. Many are wearing kerchiefs or masks over their nose and mouth, and most give a very distrusting look to strangers.
