DM-Camris' Star Wars - The Covenant of Shadows (Inactive)

Game Master Camris

Six people find themselves deep in the outer rim with nothing but blank memories, looted clothing, a stolen ship and more questions than all put together.

Lol :)

I actually had to resist the urge to post that IC.

Sorry Camris. I really just said this so the other players would know that Baniss hadn't seen anything.

Your not waiting for me are you? I felt there wasn't any more to say and was waiting for an update...

Darth Camris:
What is your cut off Dc for untrained knowledge checks? The rules say 15 or above you need to be trained. I took a Noble talent (Educated) so that Baniss could make any knowledge check untrained. If your using a house rule could I swap the talent for something else?

Baniss:

While 15 is a good cutoff for untrained knowledge skill checks, It's clear that Educated makes you an exception. You can make any knowledge check untrained.

Question about this bounty everyone and their bantha loving mother seem to want to cash in: This gang it's out for is 40 some strong, right? Would it be reasonable to think that someone would pay the bounty if we provided one dead gang member and said "just trust us, the others are all dead too?"

Or do we need to provide the trandoshan AND the ship as proof?

And Camris, with regard to tracking the Trandoshan, would Jeriko's involvement with Motta be a benefit here or would things be a bit too dicey wit him until Jeriko pays off the debt on the exploded swoop?

Jeriko:

You are pretty sure that the whole gang is needed for proof; though the ship might be helpful if you can't provide all of them.

But...

Something about the bounty is off a little. You are somewhat familiar with Motta the Hutt's patterns of behavior. He loves to be shown as generous, and publicly handing out the bounty for high ranking fugitives is his normal proceedure. This new thing... making the exchange way out in the middle of nowhere... well it just bothers you.

Camris:

Should I mention the Yellow Truck to the others?
How badly damaged is it?
What work and gear is needed for it?
How far out of town is it?
What class of ship is it?

Bolt:

Telling the others about the Yellow Truck is entirely up to you.
It doesn't really seem that badly damaged to you, but it probably needs some critical sensor and sublight engineering parts, a lot of Mechanic's work and she'll be battered but usable. And some way to get all that rubble off the top of the hull also. You'll probably need a Mechanic to tell you exactly what is needed.

She lies buried in soft sand some 60km out of town; next to the base of a mesa with some rubble on top.

The ship itself is a used Wayfarer-class medium transport (from Galaxy at War, stats available on demand.

Love that poster :D

HP: | Ref: 24 Fort: 20 Will: 20 | DMG Threshold: 25 | Condition Track: 0 |

Sounds good. Not sure how Bolt and I will be able to take out the snipers but we'll do our best.

Oh, hadn't considered that.

While Desh would just like to see how two of the 'new guys' find a way to handle it, I want to set you two up to succeed.

Is there any way to make it to where the sniper can't do what he does? Find a way to obscure his vision? Create an explosion that will make a smoke-screen? Make a huge animal or ship park in the way?

Then again, seeing rh map may give us some options.

If it just makes more sense for someone else to work on handling the sniper... just speak up. We'll figure it out.

I think there's more than 1 sniper. That will probably alter the plan considerably.

HP: | Ref: 24 Fort: 20 Will: 20 | DMG Threshold: 25 | Condition Track: 0 |

I believe Baniss saw at least two. One being almost directly above our position. I'm sure Bolt and Baniss can think up some way to neutralise him.

I'm sure we can handle it. An adhesive grenade to get things started. Shoot from stealth. Use the nearest sniper as soft cover. Hide behind the Duros. I'm sure I'll survive. ;-)

I'll be moving this weekend and I highly doubt that the self-installation kit for my internet will arrive prior to next week. I'll still be able to post from the office during the week, but it's very likely that I will be offline over the weekend.

Camris, should the need arise, please feel free to post for Jeriko.

Sorry I'm so late with a post. It's been one of those weeks. I'll have another round tomorrow.

Game Closed

Understood - no worries. Looking forward to it!

Busy happens. We understand, Camris.

Aye, no problems!

Meh - I'm still waiting for my self-installation kit to arrive so I can get the interweb at my new place. It makes me very thankful that Paizo's forums are the only ones I've found that are not blocked by my office's firewall. Yay for that!

In other news - for any of you Star Wars buffs and/or Resident Evil (the video game, not the lame movies) fans, I'll be running a solo campaign this weekend for one of my old college roommates. I totally stole the story from Resident Evil 1 (he's never played it) and have set it within the Hapes Consortium within the Transitory Mists during the early stages of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion.

Changed some names and some descriptions, and I have to say, I am really excited with how it all fits together.

details of solo campaign:

Setting: One of the moons of Relephon
Estate: Owned by Lady Korish, sister to Ta'a Chume - who would have been queen mother if not for Tenel Ka

Reason for experiments: Big Pharmaceutical Corporation, "Aurora", is partially owned by Lady Korish and is researching a super-soldier serum that can be distributed atmospherically. Goal is to distribute the virus to 3 key planets along the Yuuzhan Vong invasion corridor.

COREF (Combat Oriented Reconnaisance and Extraction Forces), led by Crylar Skaine, is contacted to investigate an issue at Lady Korish's estate. Alpha Team goes missing and misses their rendezvous - Nova Team, led by Skaine goes in to investigate.

T-virus = vong slave seed + sith alchemy + modified strains of rakghoul virus

Human zombies = rakghouls
Dobermans = mastiffs
Hunters = barabels (with their claw damage bumped and their claws are vorpal), changed the name to Slayers
Tyrant - because it's Star Wars, I changed Tyrant a bit from a tall humanoid to... a rancor. Changed the name to Onslaught as well.

I even transcribed the documents you find in the game and reflavored them to fit the Star Wars setting and printed them out for handouts.

I am STOKED! Seriously excited for this on Saturday.

Solo campaign over the weekend was a resounding success! He's made his way through about half of the mansion and has yet to have to spend a destiny point. He built his character in such a way that his Reflex Defense is enormous, so very few of my nasty zombie critters can hit him =( (when they DO hit though, they hit like champs!)

I don't know enough of the details of Resident Evil to really know what you're talking about, but good on ya for getting a game your player is enjoying. Out of curiosity, what class did he choose? And what is his general character concept?

retired

I started him at level 7 and he took Scout 3/Soldier 3/Scoundrel 1 - he took the Armor Tree from soldier (so he adds his heroic level + 1/2 his armor bonus to Ref Def) and dastardly shot from Scoundrel and is trying to stay stealthed nearly 100% of the time if he can.

His basic approach to things is:
Win Initiative > Aim/Rapid Shot them while they are flatfooted > beat their damage threshold and move them -2 steps down the condition track right away (thanks to dastardly shot) > Keep Shooting

He just hit level 8 when we stopped and he picked up a level of Gunslinger

By staying stealthed and getting a surprise round, he has in one combat thus far, been able to shoot something during the surprise round and drop it 2 steps on the CT, then win initiative and do the same thing, dropping it to -4 steps before it ever even got to act.

Poor zombie never had a chance =\

Nice hit Desh :)

Hey, when the dice are with you...

I knew my faith in you was well placed, Desh! As Baniss said, nice crit!

Hey, in case any of you are interested, there's a new star wars game recruiting right now. I thought some of you guys (and maybe Camris) might wanna see if it's something you're interested in.

I'd probably be threading on thin ice by applying, I need to watch the time I spend online, but I'll take a look.

I've been playing Star Wars: The Old Republic since Christmas (yay presents!) and just got off Tatooine the other night. While I was there, I thought about these bloody blasted jawas that ruined our bikes. As it turns out, they are too cute and sound too funny to stay mad at for very long =\

Utini!

Sorry I haven't been more active lately. I'll see if I can kick things forward tonight.
By the way, The Old Republic is almost as good as it's hype!

I can just see Desh turning that autocannon on you; "Hold still; looks like you need a little healing..." ;)

Yay! I'm enjoying the setting I this game, the players and their interactions, and the descriptions from the GM - I can wait for it to move on again.

Ditto, this game is awesome :)

I'm exited to see this game move forward, I guess the Old Republic must be awesome to make such a great game grind to a halt...

Trust me dude, it is.

...!

Uh, let me rephrase...

Our game will go forward! Just be aware that a lot of my free time will be in the Old Republic [Master Gnost-Dural servor].

OK, since the Yellow Truck will be your ride for a good while, what would you like to see in it?

What would we LIKE?
or
What would we EXPECT?

Old disused droids?
Random junk?
A malfunctioning hyperdrive?

retired

on behalf of Desh: A medical bay with plenty of kolto!

I will second Jerrn's suggestion of a fussy, uncooperative-in-the-worsst-of-times hyperdrive.

A navicomputer if none of us have the chops to make hyperspace calculations.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Jerrn has Instinctive Navigation: he can Use the Force to find his way to the wrong location.

HP: | Ref: 24 Fort: 20 Will: 20 | DMG Threshold: 25 | Condition Track: 0 |

It's a Jedi's intuition!

Interesting Q Camris... If your asking what we want...
-Combat thrusters
-Quad lazer cannons x2
-The best shields the ships size would support
-Concussion missiles
-Reinforced Hull
And manoeuvring jets for improved reflex defense...

All jokes aside basic weapons and shields would be nice and plenty of room for improvement. Upgrading your starship is one of the fun things about the SW setting.

What I expect; A battered transport with basic gear in haphazardus condition with a few upgrades fitting a pirate ship and plenty of space for improvement.

What I want; A flying fortress with excellent maneuverability and packing a solid punch with all the latest greatest upgrades in pristine condition.

Hopefully we get the former.

A cargo bay just big enough so that it can be converted into a hangar bay for a few very small star-fighters? :)

We get attacked and three of us jump in our mini-snub fighters and blast off like a swarm of hornets protecting their hive.

Desh's vote is that the ship itself be tough and fast with the ability to put some gun emplacements on it. (ya know... like Desh is)
