DM-Camris' Star Wars - The Covenant of Shadows (Inactive)

Game Master Camris

Six people find themselves deep in the outer rim with nothing but blank memories, looted clothing, a stolen ship and more questions than all put together.

Locked and Loaded!

so does this mean we're not looking for any more players?

Camris, if that is the case, what do you think of Desh sacrificing his banked creds for ownership of an old R-2 astromech unit he acquired on his last free-lance job (that went south).

It would cover the team's Use Computer deficit, would be a boon to the team mechanics, give you some play as an all-time NPC that Desh is already invested in, and give Desh a co-pilot and ship system's manager in case we're able to steal... er... i mean acquire a fighter or firespray-like ship. :)

His banked 4000creds don't quite cover the purchase, but it's really close.

Just an idea, take it or leave it.

Ready!

Hey, Dax, I just realized you're a language short. :)

Desh - I recommend looking at a T3 droid (page 82 in the KoToR guide)

It has fewer bells and whistles, and a few of the stats are a bit lower, but if it's staying on the ship anyway, you might not notice much of a difference. It's a pretty good deal, for 1,000cr less.

Actually, that's a fantastic idea, Six.

Camris, if you're down with this idea in general, the T-3 (especially with the after-market starfighter interface package) would be awesome.

That'd be 3,675 credits - and that includes the license, though we may want to have some fun with whom that license actually belongs. Maybe the droid recognizes Desh as his owner, but the license carries one of his former (and deceased) teammates?

EDIT - i had the total cost wrong... updated it to 3675

Um, hold off on purchasing any droids or vehicles; you'll see why.

As for recruiting, I'd say four players is minimum. I can at least start with you guys.
What do YOU say? Do you guys WANT or two more?

I'm fine either way, more players mean a slower game but also a stronger group.

Hey, I'm good to jump in. I've been excited to start this game anyway. I certainly don't have anyone in mind to play.

DM Camris wrote:

Consider me intrigued!

I'm ready to start the game whenever!

I'm running out of exclamation points!

Here! Have some of mine!!!

I'm good to start whenever. More players are nice, but if you've got committed players, that's more important.

I'm happy to start now, and if you decide to recruit and add a fifth player later, that's fine.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Ok, i'll stop now)

Just to let you guys know, my posting can drop to non-existant on mondays and wednsdays.

Alright then, let's light this candle...

Cue the trumpet fanfare as the words start crawling up the screen...

: Jumps up and down in giddy anticipation :

*claps hands and jumps from foot to foot* "Are we there yet?"

Six loads a charged clip into his carbine, ready for action.

"Let's do this!"

Alright, here we go!

CLICK to make the jump to lightspeed!

I have a few questions: not that it necessarily matters for this opening (which i'm already writing :D).

Darth Camris:
Is Darth Nihilus a known entity at the current time? I know a little about him, but I don't know if (in our game's chronology) if he's had his rise to power or not. Basically, is he just a seemingly bad-a$$ sith facing off against Desh? Or is he a known Sith Lord with a crazy mysterious and scary reputation?

Sorry guys... I coudn't help myself. :D

If I cause a tpk on the opening scene, I'll buy you all a beer or something.

lol! Let's hope he's a wuss.

Hmmm... based on the little I know of him... we'd have to catch him early in his career if we hope he's going to be a wuss.

eesh.

@Lekku; Gaman að sjá íslensk blótsyrði notuð fyrir zabrösk! Ertu íslenskur?

@Dax - LOL, I'm from Texas, USA, so I speak English (Though the English might argue that point.) I use Google Translate to make words sound foreign, but of course, I would pick a language you just happen to speak! I personally don't speak a word of Icelandic, myself.

heh. Yeah, I'm icelandic so I was a bit surprised by seeing those words there. What tool are you using? Google?

Game Closed

Yes, Google Translate - I'm not sure how reliable it is.

For instance: ^

Já, Google Translate - ég er ekki viss um hvernig áreiðanlegt það er.

Oh, I have to link the Google Translate beatbox.

Mostly right. It translates the words directly it seems but in that term how should be hversu not hvernig.

Not much is publicly known of Darth Nihilus, just that he was one of Darth Malak's lieutenants.

Six, what gun are you using? The blaster pistol or the Pulse Wave Pistol?

Hey Camris, based on your posting habits I gotta ask, where do you live?

I live in Beaverton, Oregon; USA. Pacific standard time.
I have a bit of insomnia so I have this habit of posting after midnight, which I really ought to change.

Desh, since you said you were using the Blast Wave pistol, I took the blaster pistol. You can see it in the lowest spoiler on my bio.

@ Camris. Ah, okay. Given your posting time i wondered if you were in Australia or something like that. Sorry about the insomnia, though.

@ Six: Cool. I didn't see which gun you pulled, so I didnt' know if you had the ability to switch to Stun or not. i see that you do... which is awesomeness.

Hey Desh, I don't know if you know this but you can't add your force point roll to the damage roll without a talent. RAW it's just on the attack roll, skill check or ability check. Dax can add it to the damage roll of an unarmed strike becouse of his Telekinetik Strike talent.

Didn't realize that. No force point used... two less damage. Thanks for the heads up.

Did Desh not knock the wookie down another condition level? He only hit the wookie for 12, but he used his brutal ability, which drops the wookie's Damage Threshold for that attack. Considering Six's 14 dropped him one last round, I would have thought his unarmed attack would have made it with Brutal factored in.

;)

We can't all be me.

Ok, ok, recalculating.

Anyone know if there is a book of villains or npc's?

OK, our Wookie is a Level 3 Soldier. Con is 22 (+6 mod). Average HP becomes 60.
Fort defense=10+(Level 3)+(Con mod 6)+(2 class mod)+(1 armor mod)=22
Which is also the Damage Threshhold.
So I was wrong on the first hit doing the condition track shift.

Thus even with Desh's Brutal ability dropping the Threshhold to 17, not enough to shift him down.

You have done substantial HP damage though.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Stupid ridiculously tough wookie!

Threats of the Galaxy is a book full of npc's :)

sigh.. another SAGA book I don't got...

Dax Oan:
Because English isn't your first language, I wanted to inform you about the words "since" and "sense."
"Since" means a few things, including "because" or "from a certain period of time."
"Sense" would be your perceptions, as in sight, smell, or in this case, using the Force.

It can be a bit confusing, and native English-speakers confuse them frequently. I just thought you might like to know - I don't want it to sound like I'm being condescending or critical. Your English use is very good, and I think it's great that you are here with us.

Six:
Thanks, but you've got me confused. When did I mix them up?

Super Secret Message for Dax Oan!!!:
In this post. It's really not a big deal - Like I said, people who are expected to be fluent misspell and mistype all the time, I just wasn't sure if you knew about it. I feel foolish for making a big deal of it, now.

Six:
Hey, no big deal. I'm actually glad you pointed it out, always willing to learn, but I can't see how I mis-used the word or mixed them up there. He's trying to make sence of his surroundings and then using the sence surroundings application of the force... Thers no past-tence implications anywhere in there...

Please, elaborate.

Jerrn:
whisper whisper whisper

: smug look at Six and Dax :

:D

Super Ultimate Top Secret Message for Dax Oan:
The spelling gives the word different meanings. There is no proper English word spelled "sence." By the way you were using it in a sentence, it would be spelled "sense."

It can be confusing, depending on whether you use it as a noun, verb, or adverb.

"He's trying to make sense of his surroundings..." <-- noun

Past-tense would be something like this:

"Yoda sensed a great disturbance in the Force." <-- verb

So for the verb, the present tense could be sense or sensing, and the past tense is sensed.

The other spelling is used in a different way.

"I haven't watched that film since last summer." Last summer is the last time I watched that film.

"Since you're already here, you might as well stay." You should stay, because you are here already.

The more I try to define it, the more I realize how crazy these words are. I hope some of that helps a bit - the best reference I can recommend is something like dictionary.com for the full definitions and examples.

@Jerrn & Desh: In case it wasn't obvious, these spoilers are just to thin out the bulk of our conversation - it's not actually a secret. Just didn't want to bore you guys to death.

;):
Oh, joke. I see it now, I mis-spelled the damned thing. Thers no c in sense.

Thanks Six.

I'm so super offended you can't even know...
