Crain Tresselmore
"You can call me Crain. Crain Tresslemore...but the Queen can call me whenever she likes," the warrior adds, completely untactful, as always.
Cassiel Hawke
Cassiel hands his weapons over without complaint.
"Cassiel Hawke." He says, not inclined to spend any longer in the Queen's presence than he has to.
Whether she's the real heir to the throne or not is irrelevant--is she capable of keeping order? Judging from the riots, I'm inclined to say no...

Going to skip ahead a bit
When she has all of your names Sabina goes ahead and motions for you to enter. As you round the corner, she announces your arrival with a loud, clear voice declaring your name to the queen.
Queen Ileosa sits upon the Crimson Throne. She is a vision of celestial beauty despite the black mourning dress and veil she wears in honor of her husband’s death. A small silver coffer sits in her lap. The throne room itself is pristine but strangely empty—an open area with a vaulted ceiling, stained glass windows of past kings and queens looking down from the eastern wall, and crimson tapestries hanging along the others. An immense fireplace offers additional light and heat to the hall, and a silk carpet provides a gently arching path to the throne’s base. Sabina takes the brooch from you, walks over and hands it over to her queen with a flourish, then takes up a position at the throne’s left side as Ileosa addresses the you.
"This brooch was stolen from me some time ago—I had not expected to see it again, truth be told. And yet, here on my darkest day, you come before me with kindness. The return of this brooch is much more than an honorable deed. It is inspiration. It is hope. I love Korvosa, as my husband did before me. His death has shocked the city as it has me, but I will not see his legacy destroyed in death, and I shall not see my city torn apart. All Korvosa stands at the precipice of a disaster wrought by her citizens—these riots cannot continue. You have already done my heart a great service in returning this bauble to me on this dark day, and you shall be rewarded. Yet, perhaps you can serve your city more. I have heard that you have decided to work for Field Marshal Cressida Kroft. The guard is stretched thin, and it can certainly use the aid of heroes such as yourself. I will be watching your progress and your deeds and maybe one day you can serve me personally. Now, I need to retire to my personal quarters—my grief has drained me. Again, I thank you for the kindness you have shown me, and I hope your days of serving the crown are only just beginning."
With this, the queen directs Sabina to hand over the reward for returning the brooch—the bodyguard swiftly does so, handing the small silver chest (itself worth 50 gp). Inside the red-velvet-lined interior rest 12 gold ingots imprinted with the royal seal of Korvosa— each bar is worth 100 gp.
You have time for a few parting words before the queen leaves and you are escorted out.
Crain Tresselmore
"Anything you need, Your Honor, just tell Kroft, and I'll be here posthaste! You can count on Crain!"
Cassiel Hawke
Cassiel listens to the Queen without saying a word. From the look on his face, he's not impressed by Queen Ileosa's speech.
Inspiration, hope, blah blah blah. You're not exactly off to a good start with yesterday's riots, your highness. Whether you're really up to the task of ruling Korvosa is yet to be determined.
"Thanks." He curtly says after being handed the reward for retrieving the Queen's brooch.
Kira Vanderhoff
Kira listens to the Queens speech, not having an opinon one way or another but only interested in mainting the city and helping it propser "It will be our honor to help restore balance to this glorious city and hopefully once again allow it to continue to grow and prosper!"
"I know I for one will be happy to do what needs to be done to ensure things can get back to normal and the city can once again move forward with no issues. Do you perhaps have any assistance we can utilize in order to make sure we can do the best job that we can?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Cassiel Hawke
Cassiel approaches Cedric, who's still injured from apprehending Lamm.
"Lady Sarenrae, would you kindly allow me to help this man?" He prays as he lays a hand on his shoulder.
Lay on Hands: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Lay on Hands #2: 1d6 ⇒ 3
After a couple of applications, Cassiel turns Sarenrae's holy healing power on himself.
Lay on Hands #3: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Not much, but it was better than nothing.
"Sounds like a good idea to me." He says, finished with his healing. "Let's scout the place first, then plan from there."
Crain Tresselmore
Crain takes a long look about the place, seeing what sort of foot traffic is coming into and out of the building.
Perception 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Cassiel Hawke
Cassiel eyes the place warily. While Cedric goes off around the building, Cassiel finds an available local.
"Excuse me, but would you mind filling me in on what's going on here?" Cassiel asks, leaning against a building. Sure, it sounded like a silly question, but perhaps he could glean something of Verik's intentions...
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Crain Tresselmore
"We can take some bacon home with us," Crain whispers as he walks by the boars. He approaches the door as listens at it. Perception 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
Crain Tresselmore
Crain waits for the others to all get in a favorable position, before throwing the door open, flail in hand.
Ill lead when every is ready.
DireMerc
You open the door and peek inside and see a kitchen were men are working on meat cutting it into slice as you would expect in a typical butchers shop.
"What I don't understand is why were giving it away. We could sell it real cheap like and at least make a bit a coin doing this." says one of the men.
"Well at least Verik paid us a lot of coin to leave our post and join him, a months wages to each of us! And there is also our night business.." replies the other.
"Quiet about that! You want Verik finding out?" says the first.
"Right, right. Lets get this meat out front before they run out."
Crain Tresselmore
"Now isn't the time for you to abandon your posts, you scurvy cowards! Some of us would love the chance to serve again, and you all are throwing it away for a few coins here and there. Get back to your posts, before we have to make you," Crain bellows as he pushes the door wide open, announcing his presence.
Intimidate 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Cassiel Hawke
Well, so much for stealth...
Cassiel moves up behind Crain. "There's two ways we can do this: the easy way or the hard way. Which would you prefer?"
Diplomacy?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
If that doesn't work...
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
DireMerc
Both men draw their longswords.
"Ah shits! Should have known the marshal would send someone. Get the others, warn Verik!" says the first tearing of his apron to reveal he is wearing his guardsman's armor underneath.
The other runs towards the front of the shop shouting "WE GOT COMPANY AT THE BACK!"
init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Crain Tresselmore
Initiative 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Crain moves forward and swings his flail, hoping to knock one out and scare teh others.
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Cedric Thargayrian
Now isn't the time to attack with all the civilian on the other side and cause mass panic are you Crazy or do you pause to think before running that big mouth of yours
Cedric will just draw his weapon and step inside ready for combat
Cedric Thargayrian
if we have initiative then this is cedric's round 1
Round 1
As he move toward the guardmen Cedric will draw his weapon and smack him on the head with it
Short Sword Subdual: 1d20 + 7 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 4 + 2 = 231d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9

Round 1: Actions
Move Action: Move to nearest conscious guard
Standard Action: Non-lethal attack!
Cassiel rolls his eyes as the deserting guardsmen decide to resist arrest. "Hard way it is, then."
He moves up, bringing his scimitar's pommel to bear on the nearest one still standing...
Attack (Non-Lethal): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Damage (Non-Lethal): 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
*sigh*
Cassiel Hawke
Attack of Opportunity (Non-Lethal): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Evidently, Cassiel is having a hard time bringing himself to attack those who once wore the uniform of the Korvosan Guard.

Actions
Standard Action: Total Defense: +4 to AC until my next turn
Faced with several former guardsmen, Cassiel sighs and adopts a defensive stance.
"Well? Come on, then. Don't be shy." He raps his scimitar against his shield.
Current AC: 23
Crain Tresselmore
"Lets have at it then," Crain yells as he moves to engage the soldiers. He swings his flail at the closest one.
Attack 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 5 - 4 = 5
Damage 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Ylenna
Ylenna moves forward and through the doors so that she's just behind and to the left of Cassiel. Once there, she holds up her hands and speaks some arcane syllabus. A cone of flame emerges from her hand, passing by Cassiel but burning the former guards.
Casting Burning Hands. If she's just to the left of and behind Cassiel, the cone won't include him, but it will include 1, 2, 3, and 4. Reflex save DC14 for half damage.
Burning hands damage: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5

Glad to see your mostly all around looks like we might have lost Kira thought

reflex 3: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
reflex 4: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Caught by surprise the guards take the full force of the flames except for one in the back who ducks down and avoids some of it.
The guards in front attack Cassiel and Crain.
attack Cassiel: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
attack Crain: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 221d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
"Target the sorceress before she launches another spell"
The two in the back load crossbows and fire and Ylenna however the cover makes for difficult shots and the bolts go wide and aren't anywhere near their mark.
attack: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 2 - 4 = 1

Your go again.

Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Why am I not surprised.
