Crain Tresselmore
Crain grabs a hunk of the gear and supplies, taking it back to the fortune teller's shop for closer inspection.
DireMerc
You leave the fishery to return to the fortune tellers shop and you quickly realize that something terrible has happened.
The frantic clang of alarm bells sing out in harmony with a multifarious cacophony of screams, the clash of steel on steel, moans, and even the periodic detonation of arcane power. A wing of Sable Company griffon riders swoops overhead, angling toward Castle Korvosa at a breakneck pace. One of the badly wounded mounts rains blood down on the street around the you before it succumbs and crashes headlong into a rooftop statue, taking its rider and itself to a bone-crunching demise. The others in the flight do not pause to check on their fallen ally. Amid the chaos, the voice of a Korvosan herald cuts through the din: "The king is dead! Long live the queen!" only to be shouted down by ragged cries of "Hang the queen!" and The usurper whore must die!" Through an alleyway, you even spots a contingent of hellknights clad in dark iron armor and horned helms pursuing a small gang of what appear to be looters. The city has gone mad while you battled Gaedren in his lair.
Cedric Thargayrian
I am in no shape to think about this event, but dark times will be upon us all. I just hope this city doesn't tear itself apart. he says before hoping to finding a bed to crawl on top as he moves in the streets along the others
Crain Tresselmore
"Too bad about the King. He was a decent enough fella, it seemed. Wonder if the young pretty Queen needs a new man," Crain smiles, picturing himself in a regal robe and crown.
Xavice Hawklight
I guess hes right, revenge isn't always the right way. good thing that the're with me or I might have done something wrong thinks Xavice
" well that's not good, I didn't know the king, however from what we hear the population may have something to say." Says Xavice looking around to see if anyone is looking at them bringing the body of Lamm "I say we hurry and get to the fortune teller's house, or somewhere not seen"
Cassiel Hawke
Oh, by Sarenrae's flaming t*ts...
Cassiel can't believe his eyes. King Eodred had passed away? And now Korvosa was going mad enough for the Hellknights to come out to play!
Okay, first thing's first. He puts a hand on Cedric's shoulder. "Sarenrae, this man has risked life and limb to bring those who would flaunt Korvosa's law to justice. I beseech you, help him in his time of need."
Lay on Hands!: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Some of Cedric's injuries heal, but he's still badly wounded. "That should help until we get to safety. Right now, the kids might be in danger. Let's go!" He starts off down the way to 3 Lancet Street.
Please, Dawnflower, tell me I'm wrong...
Kira Vanderhoff
Kira freezes as she sees the streets in panic. She closes her eyes and tries to focus on the feel of the city and what it is telling her. She shakes herself out of it after a moment, the grief and unrest almost unberable.
She thinks back on the queen and king trying to remember anything of importance, anything that could help in their current situation if a problem arose.
Know. Local: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Know. Nobility: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
As she sees the others continuing on she hefts the chest up a little and follows behind not saying a word.
Crain Tresselmore
Crain pulls his longspear as he moves to attack the closest imp.
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Standard Action: Smite Crain's imp!
Great. As if the day couldn't get any worse.
Cassiel roughly drops Lamm's unconscious body in the street, draws his scimitar and races over to attack the imp Crain stabbed at.
"Dawnflower, lend me your strength to burn those who would harm the innocent!" His scimitar glows with a yellow light.
Smite Evil Attack!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Ylenna
"Bah, imps, disgusting creatures. Those bookworms at the Acadamae are a menace!" Ylenna says.
She tries to remember if imps are resistant to fire... Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
IF she remembers, and IF they are not resistant to fire, then she will do this. If they are resistant to fire, cancel this action, let me know, and I'll post something else.
Ylenna targets one of the imps with a fire ray, watching to see if it damages the creature.
Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Fire damage if hits: 1d6 ⇒ 1
DireMerc
Kira misses, Crain misses, Cassiel using the power of his god lands a devastating blow on an imp.
Cedric and Xavice miss and Ylenna takes a moment to consider the creatures.
Ylenna you can post you actions for two rounds when you get around to it.
The imps leave the civilians around and attack the newcomers focusing on Cassiel and his smiting blade.
The wounded one retreats back as two of them attack Cassiel while another attacks Crain attacking with their scorpion tails.
Two of them attack Cassiel
attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 221d4 ⇒ 2

Another attacks Crain.

If your stung make a Fort DC 13 to resist poison.

You can all post again.

Cassiel Hawke
Round 2: Actions
Standard Action: Total Defense: +4 to AC until the start of my next turn.
Fortitude: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
The grace of Sarenrae protects Cassiel from the imp's poison, but not so much its stinger.
"Come on, you little freak. Put some REAL effort into it!" He taunts the devilish beast. He enters a defensive posture, his shield and armour positioned to deflect and absorb incoming blows.
AC against all other imps is 23 until the start of my next turn.
Ylenna
Ylenna says, "Use cold iron or silver weapons if you've got 'em! They're immune to fire and poison, resist cold and acid! I fear I can't do much against these myself."
Hoping that she gets very lucky, she points her finger the injured imp that Kira is also shooting at; an icy ray lances out towards the minor devil.
Casting Ray of Frost; because of the cold resistance, I suspect I can't even damage it unless I crit and roll 3 twice on the 1d3 damage roll, but it's about all she can do.
Ranged touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Cold damage if hits: 1d3 ⇒ 3
DireMerc
The imps attack once more attack Cassiel and Crain again but this time they miss.

Your go again.
Crain Tresselmore
Crain moves and slashes at the next imp.
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Cassiel Hawke
Round 3: Actions
Standard Action: Total Defence again! +4 to AC until the end of my next turn
Satisfied that almost all the imps are swinging at him, Cassiel maintains his defensive posture. His scimitar stops glowing yellow as the imp he targeted gets ripped to pieces. Sarenrae's justice had come for the little fiend.
"Aw, what's the matter? Your little stingers not getting through?" He taunts the imps again. "No wonder you're on the bottom rung of the Acadamae's ladder: you're absolute s**t in a fight!"
AC is 23 until the start of my next turn.
Ylenna
Ylenna shakes her head. She missed with her previous frost ray; she narrows her eyes, focuses on one of the imps flitting about, and fires off another one.
Cast Ray of Frost
Pick an imp that's not in melee, if possible, to avoid the -4.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage if hits: 1d3 ⇒ 2
DireMerc
The ray of frost hits but has no effect.
Crain manages to land a hit and badly injures an imp. The Pseudodragons swoop down and finish off the wounded imp.
The remaining imps flee and the small dragons chase after them.
The civilians thank you for your help and quickly move on to get home before trouble finds them again.
You continue on towards the house of the fortune teller and Cassiel spots a familiar face along the way. Grau Soldado a well-liked Watch Sergeant and one of the better swordsmen in the city. You haven't seen him in over a month however...Grau was a lean man, with packets of steely muscle on his well-honed physique. He was always clean shaven, with bright piercing green eyes. Now, he’s a mess—he looks like he hasn't changed his uniform in weeks and reeks of stale sweat and ale.
He walks up to Cassiel almost falling over on the way. He looks at Cassiel for a moment "Hey! I know you! Neffis right? How about we catch up? Wanna join me for a drink? I know a good tavern around here somewhere..."
Cassiel Hawke
Cassiel sighs in response to Ylenna's question. "More or less--I used to work with him. He's a good sergeant & swordsman. From the looks of things, he hasn't been doing well."
Turning to the drunken sergeant, Cassiel sets Lamm's unconscious body down. "As much as I'd love to, this is perhaps the worst possible time for it. And I'm not Neffis--he resigned a long time before I did. It's Cassiel. And what are you doing here? Why aren't you at your post?" He attempts to steady Grau. "There are people out here who need help."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Crain Tresselmore
"Maybe we've got time for just one drink. C'mon...obviously the fortune teller's in no hurry! Anyone interested?"
Cassiel Hawke
Cassiel gives Crain a deadpan look. "Yes. CLEARLY the best time to be drinking ourselves into a stupor is when there are city-wide riots going on and children to check on. What in all the hells was I thinking?"
Crain Tresselmore
"No one said a stupor, Missy. Everyone deals with troubles differently. Who are we to judge?"
Ylenna
Ylenna looks around nervously. "I hope Roland is safe.... Look, the city may fall, but there are people all around here who are going to have to live through the aftermath. We don't have time for a drink. Let's get to the fortune teller, and then I want to go to where Roland and the other kids went. I want to make sure he's... they're safe."
Kira Vanderhoff
Kira drops the chest in frustration at all the talk of the city falling, forgetting the cargo inside and storms up to the drunk guard "The city will not fall, it has been here long before us and will live on long after us. You do your post and yourself a dishonor by just giving up so easily. If you don't have the stomach for it, go drink yourself into oblivion but there are those here that will ensure the city stands no matter the circumstances."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
After a moment she huffs and goes back to the chest, picking it up slowly as she remember the contents inside.
Cassiel Hawke
Cassiel winces slightly at Kira's tone before turning to Soldado.
"My friend does have a point, Sergeant. It doesn't matter who's on the throne or whether or not it will lead to another war; a Korvosan Guardsman's duty is to protect innocents from coming to harm. Every Guardsman is needed desperately right now, and drinking yourself into the gutter is only going to make things worse. Can you make it back to Citadel Volshyenek on your own? Or do you need me to escort you there?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Crain Tresselmore
"If you go back to your post, I'll give you a pull off my ale here, Grau. Don't get too drunk...the city probably needs you for the time being. The heavy drinking is for when you get off duty," the half elf adds.
Grau Soldano
"Protect the innocent huh? Is that what we guards are for? Sometimes it feels like were here to protect the nobles from the people. Funny thing I saw a pack of angry folk tipping over a nobles carriage a little while ago. Still ideals like that are what I used to stand for once. I have a sister-in-law at home alone with three kids right now. I better go make sure she's safe. I wont be of much use as I am but better than nothing I supposes." says Grau slurring his words as he talks and wobbling back and forth.
Cassiel Hawke
Cassiel sighs as Grau mentions a group of rioters tipping over a carriage. Dammit. More s**t to deal with... and I still don't know how the kids are doing.
"Yeah, you should go check on 'em." He nods. "Make sure they're safe, and wait it out with them."
Because Sarenrae knows the last thing this city needs is a drunk guardsman on the job.
With that, he follows Kira to Zellara's home, still dragging Lamm's unconscious body with him.
