"Let's find out," she replies to Chorlo.

She examines the corpses carefully, curious if they are dead or undead.

two quivers (each containing 10 blunted arrows). The
other pack has 2 days’ worth of rations, a full waterskin,

Closing the corpses eyes, Savannah intones a prayer to Kurgess, "Beloved Strong Man, carry these souls to the Boneyard. See them to safety. See them home."

Then she stands and walks over to the backpacks. She puts the food and waterskin in her pack to share with the others later. The rest she holds up to the group. "There's some blunt arrows here... And... two smokesticks. Does anyone want them? Chorlo? Lucas?"

Rewinding just a touch here, going back to the ponies

As you investigate the outside of the crypt and inspect the ponies, Savannah sniffs things and looks around. It rained 4 days ago and there are still observable tracks here....whatever happened here happened just 2 or 3 days ago.

Things get a little dark as you enter the crypt. There are a couple of torches, yet to be lit, hanging from sconces in the room.

The room itself is decorated with what appear to be a couple of big puppets of skeletons that have been torn to shreds, twisting and dangling from the raised daises on either side of the room.

Darkvision OR Perception DC 15:
Behind the puppets you see the mauled bodies of people who you recognize as being elder townspeople from the town of Kassen.

The tomb is otherwise deadly silent as you hang outside.

I will assume you take roughly the same actions

Vulen's batvision comes into view and he moves inside to investigate, as Chorlo lights a lantern and Savannah lights a torch from it.

However, as Vulen moves to approach the bodies he sees movement in the dark...and he hears a scraping of a bone on stone coming from all the different corners of the room.

Just at that point the lanterns are lit and the subjects come into plain view - the bodies that had been lying there, the bodies that belonged to people you saw back in town prior to the pilgrimage....they rise. Stripped of their flesh and recognizable only by their clothing...they scrambled on all fours with sharpened claws, bereft of their humanity and eyes glowering with hunger.

The skeletons move with deadly intent towards the intruder, Vulen and throw themselves at him, sharpened fingers clawing at his exposed throat.

As the skeletons lunge at Vulen, Savannah shouts "Look out!"

Chorlo advances cautiously into the room while Lucas throws caution to the wind!

Lucas' blade strikes true, but he finds that his rapier does a poor job of piercing bone, even thicker bones like the pelvis and femur. Mostly, his blade simply pierces the clothing the undead villager was wearing.

Velen delays again, I'm going to poke him right after this post.

Eddie advances and, spotting a slipping and unsteady skeleton above him, he climbs up Climb: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 very quickly and raises his Earthbreaker and crashes it through the skull of the skeleton.

Chorlo apparently decides that this Eddies fight to lose and begins to aid him against the skeletons surrounding Velen.

But you need to be threatening in order to use the Aid Another action so you'll need to reposition yourself to do this.

The skeletons each have a target before them and tear into them.

First the white claws his way into Lucas

and then the pink one, a school marm by the look of her clothing, claws at the heavily armored Velen.

And then finally the blue clothed one, one of the black smith apprentices, advances on Savannah and brings his boney sharp fingers to her face.

The combination of Holy oil and Kurgess's divine might (via Savannah) end the movement in the chamber. As terrible as the scraping of bone on stone was a moment ago, the silence now may be even worse as you are left with the cold reality of murder most foul.

There are two ways further into the chamber a door to the left that is closed and a door to the right that is hanging slightly ajar.

Aside from the re-dead villagers there is little in this chamber beyond a bust labeled "Kassen".

Savannah crouches down over the dead bodies, then hesitates, clearly not sure what to do with them. Seeing Chorlo move to the door, Savannah stands, obviously more comfortable working among the living than the dead.

"A fine choice, Chorlo." she remarks, moving up beside him.

"Ready team?!" she asks enthusiastically. "Let's go!"

You retroactively find the things that you found before! (20 blunt arrows, 2 smokesticks being the most important finds)

Eddie proceeds to the next room with the encouragement - and caution - of Chorlo and Savannah.

What he finds is a pool in a dimly lit, mostly dark room with 4 columns and two exits to the south, one blue and one red.

The pool is fed by a fountain on the wall above it. The fountain has a stone statue of a weeping maiden holding the slain body of Kassen, but his head has been broken off and is nowhere to be seen. A voice booms out from the darkness, saying, “Magic is the key.” The voice slowly fades, leaving a dreadful silence.

"Might as well take them all," Savannah remarks, handing all the blunt arrows to Chorlo. "You're the only one with a bow."

Then she puts the smokesticks in her back pack. Does anyone want a smokestick?

Savannah walks into the room and looks around, then peers into the pool.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

"Magic, huh? Not my specialty."

Using the light from her light spell, Savannah peers into the pool and sees hundreds, perhaps thousands of keys in all shapes and sizes at the bottom of the pool.

"Huh." Savannah remarks. "There's a ton of keys in this pool. Is one of them... magical? Maybe?" She looks harder at the keys, but then shrugs.

"Beats me!"

Savannah walks over to examine the statue instead.

"That is a lot of keys, who wants to go swimming?' Chorlo smiles as he asks.

I know nothing about magic, but didn't that statue in the other room say something about Kassen as well? I just smash things guys, Lucas what do you make of this? Eddie is clueless, and will begin retrieving keys one by one if no one thinks of a better solution. I don't mind a swim. I could use a bath.Eddie sniffs his pits, grins and begins to take off his armor down to his scibbies.

A brief inspection by Savannah and Chorlo and Eddie they realize its a ten foot deep pool.

So it will require a good swimmer.

But there are also probably about 600 keys. Any ideas on how to figure out which one to grab?

I feel like a detect magic spell would work, however Eddie wouldn't have the slightest idea except to jump in and try every one lol Or repeatedly smash the door with his hammer, you know, barbarian stuff...

Agreed. Let's hope Lucas has detect magic, cause Savannah definitely does NOT.

Savannah follows Eddie's lead. She strips off most of her clothes, and dives into the pool. While she's down there she sifts through the keys, looking for any that bear a symbol upon them relating to Kassen or his tomb.

She'll have to go up for air more than a few times, I imagine, lol.

Swim: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Eddie will attempt to retrieve as many keys as possible.
Swim: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
Whelps DM if this is the route we must take, how do you want to go about doing this? Is taking 10 or taking 20 going to be allowed? Also I don't remember, was there a time given that we had to bring the fire back by?

Well that brings us to the next obstacle - so you have retrieved a bunch of keys, but where do you think they go to?

Savannah's notion is an interesting one, but she quickly finds that to the extent that the keys have etchings and markings on them at all, theyre pretty scattershot and eclectic. You feel as though this might be every single key that Kassen collected during his long life as a hero and roving adventurer.

She and Eddy retrieve a few dozen keys though, so they have those at their disposal.

The GM might be merciful

Chorlo holds the light high over the pool for those diving down. Once Eddie and Savannah surface Chrolo helps them out of the water.

"There seem to be to many keys down there, we don't know where they go and dragging them around might be a bad idea. We can always come back later?"

That may be a good idea chorlo, it's gonna take all day to find the right key.But save a few could find some use for them.
