Ganzorig
Shrugging, Zorig sends Flit to seek out the admin or their office.
Act Under Pressure: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 2 = 6
Oh no, Ganzorig has the Temple of Anihilation wasting sickness.
The City
Sahale
you guys your stealh drone through the facility, getting a good idea of the layout of the second and third floor. the green rectangles are vent openings, the plus is the stairs up, the minus the stairs down. the stairs up to the fourth floor (home of the server room, which I've just realized I never explicitly said, my B) are guarded by an magna-locked door and two guards, who you'll have to deal with to get where you're going.
Ganzorig
You trace a different route than Sahale, but quickly realize that none of the people on floors 2 or 3 match the image you were given. probably he's up in his server rooms.
unfortunately, Flit gets a tiny bit too close to the Genuitech magna-seal 752, and briefly the drone loses power, dipping into the security guards field of vision. you pull up almost immediately, and manuever away from his eyes, but you hear him radio out Hey guys, probably nothing, but I might have seem something moving on the third floor. eyes peeled.
What do you do?
Lance Kreskin
I can get us past the door or the guards, but not both. In the meantime, we need to get out of this vent. In a minute, the lights will go out, make a bee-line out the door and for the stairs up. We’ll regroup around the corner for the stairs to four.
Spending 1 hold to escape notice, getting us to the 3rd floor.
*Elan
Elan nods at Lance. <<Just say the word.>> she says over the comms. <<Although if worst comes to worst, stay behind me and I'll deal with the guards.>>
Lance Kreskin
Lance hits a button on his infiltration suit and the lights outside cut off.
<<Now!>> He rushes in the darkness to where they’re going.
Like a Druid, I’ve already succeeded at escaping notice and bringing my friends along...but I’m almost out of hold. I won’t be able to deal with both obstacles unseen.
Lance Kreskin
I don't want to answer for Sahale, but I think it's safe to say "the area between the 3rd floor stairs (where we are) and the magnalocked door (where we're going)" Some time has passed since the last reconnaissance sweep and he's making sure nothing has changed.
The City
sorry, busy, and new to the system
Sahale
a quick sweep of the floor above you shows everyone in their proper places. the hallways are clear... but someone is investigatig the sound of the rotors. You can either continue using the drone, but raise suspicions, or quickly set it somewhere inconspicuous, and try to retrieve it without drawing attention to it. What do you do?
Lance Kreskin
Lance gently Sahale on the back in acknowledgement. <<Elan, I can bust the door or I can distract the guards, but I can't do both. Your suggestion of staying behind you while you deal with the guards is mighty appealing right now. If you clear me a path, I can get us to the next level. That's the extent of my preparation, though. We'll be winging it for awhile.>> He looks to Sahale <<No pun intended.>>
*Elan
"Sounds good to me." says Elan. "I'll deal with the guards, and you deal push on."
Ganzorig
<<I can send Tapper to grab your messenger. They won't be looking for a crawler.>> It is evident Ganzorig is mostly eager to solve drone problems with more drones, and do Sahale a favor in the meantime. Tapper is already scurrying along the hall before Lance has time to speak up.
Act Under Pressure: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 5) + 2 = 12
Can tapper walk on walls and ceilings, or is that a tag we'll have to add later?
*Elan
Sorry, I've been battling the flu the last few days. I'm getting better, but it's still crazy.
Elan snaps out her collapsible sword and then walks out into the area where the guards are at. "Scuse me, you know the way to the first aid station?"
Mix it up (+Synth): 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5
Lance Kreskin
Available evidence suggests that pissing off Elan is a completely viable option.
Also, hope you're getting better. The flu is rough.
*Elan
I am getting better, but it's not as quickly as I might like. Fortunately I still have quite a few days off since it's the beginning of the year.
and you're right, the dice don't appreciate a good one-liner, apparently.
The City
Unfortunately for you, Elan, one of them had augmented hearing, and pulled a gun before you could get in stabbery-range.
His buddy is going for their comm, raising the alarm. what do you do.
The mission clock has officially hit 2100, meaning they are on full alert and deploying internal assets. More segments means things start going downhill fast. you guys are gonna want to to get moving before the sec-bots get there.
Lance Kreskin
I have one more hold I can use to disable a guard. Can I disable Mr. Radio before he triggers the alarm (or disable/bypass the alarm), thus keeping the mission clock low?
Lance slides out from behind the corner on his knees(It looks a little bit like this) and:
Spending my last hold to disable a guard. Which guard is up to The City...
Also, Elan, you'd better come up with a compelling reason why we'd invite you to the next score (assuming we all survive). You're not exactly acing this job interview.
Ganzorig
Ganzorig and those drones that are back from their tasks orbit Sahale, providing supporting fire.
Help: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
+1 to that Mix It Up, and Ganzorig is absolutely waiting for the chance to take a bullet for Sahale.
Lance Kreskin
Fair enough. Am I reading your action bar correctly, we have three more sections on the clock before we need to bug out?
With the guard clutching his hand, Lance is able to knock him out cold. Using my hold to completely disable the guard. He's out out. and waits for Sahale to finish spraying the remaining guard with bullets.
He's already doing the math on completing the job and getting out safely. Disabling the sys-admin might be messier than he had hoped...and snatching the files might be messier as well.
Ganzorig, are you in the building with us? I thought you were remote controlling your drones so that you can drive the getaway car hotel room. We're going to need an evac and we'll probably be going out hot.
Ganzorig
Whatever's doable. I wasn't clear on my range with the drones, and how combat would work with them and Harm. The inverse is also true, I can pilot the escape suite remotely just as well as I could control the drones, I think.
*Elan
"Thanks for the assist." says Elan as the crew comes to her aid. She then begins searching their bodies for two things: radios, or communications, and whatever they use to pass through the building.
The City
sorry guys, just moved, promise I'll be more diligent now.
Lance
Don't use an additional hold, you already used disable. and yeah,
3 more bars. though if it fills, shit goes FUBAR
Sahale
I'm going to assume your objective was to disable the guard. was it meant to be lethally? either way, you get what you want, now you guys have a chance to deal with the door, while non-security employees cower.
Sahale
I'm not sure myself. If possible, non-lethal (like shooting the legs or somtehing) is preferable. But in case it's not, lethal is fine too.
Sahale starts fiddling with the door and its security panel.
"Just a moment. We'll be in soon enough."
Bypass: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 6) + 1 = 9 7+: you successfully bypass the system without leaving a trace.
Lance Kreskin
<<Elan, do try to keep the guards away for as long as possible. Sahale, the servers are yours, get what we need as quickly as you can please. Ganzorig, can you please warm up our ride? Also...try to figure out our best egress point. I'm thinking "roof" may no longer be an option." I'll secure our little friend.>>
The tragedy of a silenced SMG is that you can't fire it into the air to scare people. Still...waving it about might give the desired effect.
Vadekar, identify yourself or I'll start shooting sysadmins at random until you do.
play hardball: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 6) + 1 = 11
NPCs do what I say, so either Vandekar shows himself or someone tells me where he is.
*Elan
After searching the guards, Elan will drag their bodies into the bathroom/a storage closet/a janitor's closet and pile them up.
As the group enters the server farm, Elan pulls security by the door, watching for guards coming this way.
Assess: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10 Finally, a good roll. I will spend one hold right now to ask the following question: What do I notice despite an effort to conceal it?
Ganzorig
Ganzorig gives double thumbs-up to Lance. The IT staff have left a desk chair in the middle of the floor, and he curls up into it, tucking one knee close to his chest. He closes one eye, sticks out his tongue, holds out both hands in the shape of L's like a picture frame, and spins, inspecting walls.
Assess: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 4) + 1 = 7
What is Paris' best way... uhm... through.
Tapper and Flit take synchronous orbits in overwatch.
Nearby, the nondescript side of a building shudders and decouples from the main foundation. Sheet metal slides away, and Paris glides steadily toward the compound. The auto-cannon begins charging for a burst volley.
The City
Sorry, sorry
Lance
"In that office!" one Guy says as you level the gun at him. the office he indicates is not reinforced, a simple bullet to the lock should deal with it.
Elan
as you pass by the server farm room, you notice a few infrared laser-tripwires at the door, below normal eye level. if you had tripped them, you would have raised the alarm again, and probably got their home-office's attention.
Ganzorig
Fifth floor, there's a balcony sturdy enough to drop Paris. or you could crash it through the server-farms wall, risking damaging it, but bypassing the killbots.
Lance Kreskin
Lance gives a nod and blows the lock off the door.
"Vadekar...we can do this the easy way or the hard way. I want your hands in the air when I come through this door, ok?"
*Elan
"There are tripwires here:" Elan will indicate them "We should avoid." Elan will join Lance at the door as she hears his weapon fire.
Ganzorig
Something occurs to Ganzorig, and he turns to Lance. "We're done keeping this quiet, right?" Then, the building shudders as Paris's auto-cannon chews into the wall of the server farm before she hits it at ramming speed. Zorig holds up a finger. "Technically, I asked first."
Mix it Up or Act Under Pressure + Power: 2d6 + 0 + 2 ⇒ (2, 5) + 0 + 2 = 9
If it's MiU, this makes too much noise. If it's AUP, that's 11. Still not sure how I feel about the Vehicle MiU(Synth) / Drone MiU(Meat) situation.
Lance Kreskin
"Yeah, 'quiet' went out the door about the time the alarms went off. Try not to damage the computers before we can get what we came for."
Lance nudges Elan. "I can handle a computer dweeb. We've got killbots incoming down those stairs, see what you can do to downgrade them to annoybots."
*Elan
"On it." said Elan who then moved to cover the stairs, drawing her Custom Handgun and collapsible sword and snapping the sword into place.
The City
Sahale
They gave you a specific number, just grabbing the drives isn't too hard. not getting whacked by the wall as Zorig gets you guys an escape point may, on the other hand, require a roll.
Elan
the first sec-bots show themselves, announcing "Intruder, Be Notified, Lethal Countermeasures Have Been Authorized" as they bring their weapons around to face the group. what do you do?
Ganzorig
Paris' Guns break through the server room, sending debis flying throughout the room, and destroying four racks and incrementing the action clock yet again. you guys have an out. what do you do?
Lance
Vaedekar has a flechette pistol in his hand, aimed at you. Drop your weapon. he says haltingly. his safety is off. you suspect this is more to slow you down than stop you though. what do you do?
*Elan
1 person marked this as a favorite.
"You should hurry things along!" says Elan over the radio as she fires at the first Robot to appear before her.
Mix It Up!: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 6) + 1 = 13 that's 3 damage close/near quick
