Zelda in her weakened state hits the cultist twice but doesn't have the strength to kill him. The armored half orc steps up and drives his massive spear through the cultist's head - spraying blood across both Naught and Zelda. Naught brutally cuts down the remaining cultist.

Grey runs to Aliseya and heals her (+8 points healing). As he does so, the lady's dog screams over his shoulder at Naught and Zelda, "Destroy the script and you destroy the haunt!"

Ysmerelda's ghost begins clawing at the wall, as does Sariana.

The Splatterman sneers and begins walking towards Grey. "You should never have come down here."

The splatter man then raises his hands and sends streams of force ripping through the halfling. Grey falls to the ground bleeding.

Govannon shudders a bit, and rolls onto his stomach. He starts the butterfly, imagining himself swimming to safety. He keeps looking over his shoulder though, at the sharks coming after him…

He swims faster but never gains ground as he rolls around on the dirty floor.

Ali blinks twice, uncertain of her surroundings or what just happened. But it doesn't take her long to remember once she sees Grey go down.

Spotting the book, she looks back and forth between Grey and the book. Rippling phantoms of agony wrack her brain and body alike as her mind goes away and another comes to the fore.

With an unnatural crack of the neck, the witchy woman seems tempted to do something else for a moment. Instead, she seems resigned to crawl over to the fallen halfling and, with a dark incantation, her violet effervescent healing enters into the small body.

Zelda nimbly tumbles past the ghost, but can't move far enough to reach the spell book - she collapses into insanity at the end of her movement. Naught races to the Splatterman and slams him with her ghost touch headman's axe. Aliseay crawls to Gray and heals him back to consciousness.

The Splatterman takes a 5 ' step back and blasts Naught with four piercing force missiles (12 hp damage) "Good night sweet barbarian - Gibs Hephenus is avenged! "

Sariana, Ulrik and Ysmerelda's ghost hack at the bloody letters on the wall and manage to destroy the haunt - all wisdom damage is restored!

Govannon’s mind snaps back into place like some elastic putty - all the damage gone in an instant.

He scrambles around for his still magic weapon (for a short time anyway), grabs it, and stands up before taking a 5’ step toward the ghost. (two provoking actions, but there’s no one near me.)

”Now look you wizard. We’re going to put you back in the ground! Right team?!” he looks at the haphazard state of the party and hopes he can move quickly enough!

"NAUGHT!!" For an instant, the sweet Varisian woman comes through. She cries out the storyteller's name with pure guttural heartbrokeness.

As her witchy state of mind clouds over her once more, Aliseya remains highly annoyed at the antics of this wretched arcanist who doesn't seem to know when he's supposed to be dead. She swiftly moves over to Naught, speaking in the dark tongue as violet effervescence imbues the fallen axewoman from her wand, preventing her death.

She then barks a couple of sentences at the Splatter Man in the dark language.

Move to Naught, use wand of clw

Speak Aklo:
Naught might hear the words, "My pet..." as she regains consciousness... or in her dream before regaining it, perhaps.

Grunting from her abdominal pain, witchy Ali looks down to fully realize the torn damage done to her posh outfit from the Splatter Man's blast! Rage comes over her face, and as she screams in that dreaded language once more, she swiftly rushes past Naught as the storyteller comes to and seems to call upon the powers of unholy wrath... she forcefully grasps for the Splatter Man's heart, agonizingly drawing forth his essence of unlife. His ghostly form begins to flicker as wisps of undead essence are released...

Zelda simultaneously slashes the Splatterman with her enchanted rapier as he viciously cuts her down with his magic. Govannon attacks and destroys the last remnants of the spell book - the ghost howls in angst shrouded misery!

Grey moves to heal Naught (7 points healing). Aliseya reaches and grabs onto the Splatterman's heart with positive energy enhanced claws.

The Splatterman backpedals away from Aliseya and disappears into the wall.

A moment later Sariana screams, "Its in the water!"

Kendra continues to hang listlessly over the flooded oubliette. A ghostly green light emanates from the water's surface.

He hesitates, but assumes Aliseya can do something more than he, and rushes to the green water.

Maps a little tight and there are some tokens I can't identify, but if I can work my way around without drawing an AoO I do so - double move. If not, please move me up to the nearest enemy - but still a double move I'm afraid.

Round 12

Aliseya's eyes glaze over as the ghostly mass murderer flees through the wall. Blinking a few times, she suddenly curls forward, shaking her head. When she turns to see Gov speaking to her, a look of confusion comes over her expression and she just stares back at him for a moment.

She then suddenly notices Zelda on the floor, and rushes over to her. Kneeling with wand in hand, she taps Zelda as violet effervescence relieves and restores the locksmith's vitality and her bleeding comes to a halt.

As her wounds seal though, Ali suddenly looks up as if to take notice of Kendra for the first time. Seeing the green light begin to emanate from the pool below her, Ali barks at Govannon in a horrifying language that in your gut feels so unnatural it should never be spoken aloud.

Speak Aklo:
Ali barks an order to Gov, "Get Kendra down and out of there now!!"

Gray moves to Zelda and applies his last healing spell (you are healed 5 hp). Zelda opens her eyes and realizes that the battle yet continues. Govannon moves to the water's edge and peers down. The oubliette is 10' in diameter and is filled to the brim with a dark, murky water. At the bottom of the oubliette, about 20' below the water's surface, the effervescent form of the Splatterman glows a luminous green. The ghost sits in the lotus position and is gestating his arms - you recognize the telltale signs of a summoning spell. Naught stands up and joins Govannon at the water's edge to witness the horror below.

Kendra continues to hang by chains over the center of the oubliette. She opens her eyes as you approach - her irises glow a ghastly green. She speaks to you in an unearthly voice that is clearly not her own. "The boundaries between life and death grow thin in these halls. Soon all those who have fallen will walk again. So too shall you join the waking dead. Together we will rule these lands. All transgressions shall be forgiven - you will become my anointed ones. My brothers now come to carry you past the threshold. Close your eyes and await their dark embrace!"

The howls of approaching undead echo through the dungeon halls. Ulrik and Sariana draw their weapons and move to block the coming undead assault.

Zelda shakes her head as she awakens and hearing the ghost in the water grabs her bow and stands once more. Where are those ghost bane arrows we found. I can think of no better use than on that creature down there.

Feeling drained and weak, Ali musters enough strength to pray. She taps Zelda on the shoulder as she sees her grab her bow, and the locksmith feels more sure of her skill and true in her aim.

Naught - there's little to do this round, all our opponents are out of reach. Even with a bow, the ghost is through 20' of water. Tough stuff.

If you ready an attack as Govannon did, you'll get a swing, and be ahead of the enemy in initiative, so you'll have lost nothing unless no enemy shows up this round - and you'd have had nothing to do anyway so no loss.

Zelda moves to the oubliette edge and readies her bow. Govannon and Naught ready for an attack. Aliseya casts a guidance spell on Zelda.

Kendra begins to writhe in her chains. You can see that she is bleeding from where the iron links have bit into her flesh. The blood is dripping into the oubliette waters at an ever quickening pace.

Gray moves to the oubliette with Naught, Govannon and Zelda. "We must go down there and destroy him once and for all. He is the fountain head of evil that animates this foul prison. Quickly! Fate hangs in the balance. The others can't hold out much longer!"

Down the hall, the battle commences between Sariana, Ulrik and the charging horde of undead.

Zelda, Govannon, Naught dive into the dark water with their weapons extended towards the ghost below. Zelda alone manages to pierce the Splatterman with her rapier.

As you sink to the bottom, tentacles come reaching out of the darkness of the oubliette depths and begin to wrap around Govannon and Naught (You are now each grappled). To your horror two summoned octopi guard the Splatterman.

The Splatterman snarls and blasts Zelda with a blinding blast of force missiles (12 hp damage). "Welcome to your watery crypt!"

You may each take an AoO against the Splatterman.

The Splatterman now points to Naught, "In death you will lead my undead army!" He again blasts a volley of point blank force missiles at the barbarian (12 points damage). The octopi maintain their grapples.

Everyone may again take an AoO.

Aliseya continues to swim, slapping the Splatter Man in the face as he summons more magical force to bombard Naught with. She then strokes back a bit towards Naught, bringing the storyteller back to consciousness with a touch of her wand.

Zelda and Naught silently float in the water - slowly pirouetting around the sunken battle ground like bloody satellites. In the violence of her assault, Zelda's gear has come unhinged. Her glowing rapier floats in the water, as do her assorted ghost touched and undead bane arrows - the weapons float tantalizingly close to Govannon and Aliseaya's hand. The powerful undead bane arrows vibrate with positive energy.

Govannon thrashes at both the Splatterman and at the octupus that has him grappled, but is unable to hit either. Aliseya lashes at the ghost when he brutally slays her friend, but finds that her claws pass harmlessly through the incorporeal undead. She then quickly stabilizes Naught with her healing.

The Splatterman now addresses Govannon. "The spellbook once belonged to the esteemed Professor Hean Feramin - no doubt you heard of him. You magus, should have known better than to destroy such a powerful artifact of arcane knowledge. For this crime, I've saved my last spell for you. Let this be your last image before you begin your descent to Hell!"

The ghost unleashes a blinding arcane flash that forms into four energy bolts that crash into Govannon with the power of a thunder strike. (empowered magic missile - 16 pts damage).

You each may take an AoO.

If he can reach it, he grabs for the rapier (a move action that I think provokes) and stabs at the ghost with the magical blade.

Aliseya focuses on touching Zelda with her healing wand this time, but attempts to also grab whatever she can of the locksmith's floating weapons.

If and when Zel comes to, she points at Zel's bow and thrusts the arrows in front of Zelda, obviously suggesting she use them right now.

Wand of clw on Zel [std], grab the quiver of ghost-touched and undead-bane arrows [move]:

After Govannon's shield deflects the ghost's powerful arcane strike, the magus pulls Zelda's rapier from the water and in one fluid motion plunges the glowing blade into the Splatterman's essence. Aliseya heals Zelda and retrieves the floating arrows from the water. Zelda regains consciousness.

The Splatterman extends his wicked spectral claws and attacks Govannon like a feral animal (he provokes an AoO as he stands up), but he is unable to penetrate Govannon's armor. The octopi continue their grapple.
