Put in place for post-selection celebrations. We'll make a start once I've audited the character sheets. For now, feel free to make introductory posts in the gameplay thread.
"For speech." 'For thoughts.' OOC info only.
Descriptive posts with rolls at the bottom. An example of all rules below.
'A dragon!' Fedryn thinks to himself. "Watch out for it's breath!"

Gabriela Szabo |

Quick question GM Fedryn, do you want us to be strangers? I'll have a better look at the other character backgrounds but I suspect we could intertwine them bit and if we are going to we probably should do so, at least in general terms, before we meet.
Secondly, does anyone know is it possible to get a custom avatar? I can't find a good one for my thrush familiar.

Gabriela Szabo |

Not sure if anyone else is interested in intertwine character backgrounds, sometimes it is fun to meet characters and get a initial impression but intertwining can strengthen the party.
Having read through everyone's backgrounds Lysa and Gabbi could easily have met and maybe even be friends. Gabbi may have crossed paths with Dantrian but I doubt either would have noticed enough to remember. I don't think Gabbi would have met Qorin or Ebon without quite sigificant background rewrites.

Gabriela Szabo |

Sounds good. So we probably know (or atleast knew) each other's names and a few plesantries. Gabbi isn't too much into the alcohol (its a tool that some people need to break out of their shell and have a good time, people like Lysa for instance.)

Gabriela Szabo |

Lysa - Gabbi would never call another beautiful intelligent young lady a nickname they didn't approve of (atleast to her face), she might however try to trick her into getting very drunk and having a great time.
Dantrian - Sounds fine, so Dantrian would have seen Gabbi getting under her father's feet when she was young and would recognise the family name. I don't think Gabbi would remember her father's students (I guess her father was an alchemist).

Ebon "Carrion Eater" Highroost |

Getting Ebon's character to interact would be especially difficult, unless however we wanted to engineer a specific instance in our pasts where fate might have brough any one of us together for a chance meeting.

Ebon "Carrion Eater" Highroost |

Also, I think it'd be good if we could all post our timetables so we all know when everyone's gonna post.
I live in Long Island, New York, so I'm working on Eastern Standard time. My work schedule is forever changing and it'll be particularly difficult to know exactly when I can post until I begin attending college in the fall.
Hrm, still haven't seen Qorin around these parts.

Gabriela Szabo |

I certainly don't see Gabbi and Ebon having encounted each other, but Ebon and Qorin might well have crossed paths.
I live on the east coast of Australia (AEST) so GMT+10 (or GMT+11 in summer) (about 14 hours ahead of New York). I'm a teacher and work varies greatly but as a rule I can post most recesses and lunchs, after school and atleast once during the evening. I play a couple of games with other US east coasters it work well, I can write quick replies to their long evening posts in my lunch break and post something more substancial while they are asleep.
I suspect GM Fedryn might try chase Qorin up when he gets back to civilation.

Dantrian Almaeus |

Gabbi's dad could have been anything, Dantrian's education happened long before he became an alchemist. As a matter of fact, Dantrian started out studying archaeology and didn't take up alchemist-ing until he'd been out in the world and on his own for several years.
As for my posting schedule, I'm also on the East Coast of the US, so GMT -4 for me. I work at an office where paizo's forums are the only forums I've found not blocked by the firewall, so until the guys in IT discover it I can post regularly throughout my day.

Qorin |

Checking in. Sorry for the delay, been on the road. On EST.

Gabriela Szabo |

The Half-Orc is large and brutal looking, and not a spot of mud on him for that matter.
Its one of the many special powers a paladin get

GM Fedryn |

A few notes on how I plan to run combat. Each group of combatants will have a single initiative value (including you, the players). This will hopefully make combat much smoother.
When combat initiates, I will roll for initiative using the highest init value amongst the players and the relevant init value for each group of NPCs. Once player init is up, we'll take it as being 'first post acts first' which should negate any requirement to ret-con posts due to invalid actions.
During combat, players will have 24 hours from the previous post to act or they will be DMPC'd appropriately.
There may be points throughout the path where individual init rolls are required. I will make you aware of these and you shall roll them.
Also, in Book 4 there is an optional sanity point system. As I want to give you guys the full flavour of the path, we will be using it. If you character does happen to become insane, they are not automatically written out; it is possible for the insanity to be reversed. Again, it all fits into the danger I want this path to convey.
I'm running this at 15 point buy because the paths are written for that and I want to see how fine a line it will be with 15 points. Once this path concludes, or when we settle into an easy rhythm, I intend to start another AP which will either be 15 point buy or potentially 10 point buy if I want it to be a real challenge.

Qorin |

Perception? What's that?
I'm fine taking the lead, but Qorin thinks perception is what happens when a wound starts to fester. If anyone has any capacity for stealth and scouting, I'd put them ahead, until we know there's a fight about to happen. Then Q is your man.

Ebon "Carrion Eater" Highroost |

Well, I'm the best perceptiony stealthy guy we've got, though Disable Device isn't a trained skill for Inquisitors, so we're gonna have to rely on me to detect them and Dantrian to disarm them. As far as marching order goes, I'm fine with wherever I go. I would do well with taking out enemies coming from behind, but Qorin's right in that I have the best stealth, so I should be the one to scout ahead if we see trouble looming.

Qorin |

Ebon, if you find the fight before the fight finds you, I'll go first. If it's an ambush, I'll stay close enough to be there and attack in a round.

Gabriela Szabo |

Maps look good, if isn't too much bother a key to the map of Ravengro would be nice. I know from running other APs that this might a more difficult request than it sounds but if you tell us the locations we have been at least.
As for for speed, it is fast but from my experiences online so far I think it needs a certain pace to keep going well and so I say go for it. Just be aware that my time zone means I won't get to respond straight away to some things.

GM Fedryn |

Yeah, I was typing up the legend while you posted. I've included basic details for the shops but there may or may not be additional things that require skill checks to find out about ;)
I am aware of the time zone differences which is why I asked, but by all means if you want to continue any conversations/other roleplay from earlier in the thread, feel free to do so in spoilers with the name of the involved parties.

Qorin |

I think pacing = good. It seems that we can all manage to walkback the conversations that aren't finished, and to keep things sharp rather than endlessly dithering.
Case in point, Qorin is unlikely to give up trying to persuade Gabbi to put down her "sword," and she is probably not going to be persuaded, what with it being the whole character concept and all, but we don't need to spend the next 10,000 posts on that dialogue.

GM Fedryn |

Exactly. While I'm all for roleplaying in 'downtime' such as at The Laughing Demon, I'll probably move things on in a day.
Saying that, I'm going on holiday from the 21st to the 28th. I may or may not have internet access; I won't know until we get to the resort.
Expect things to go slowly from there for a week and we'll pick up on my return. I'll probably aim for us to finish up The False Crypt by the weekend and we can take a quasi-break until I find out if/when I can update you guys while on holiday.

Gabriela Szabo |

Qorin, I suspect that it'll come up again. At some point she'll want a new pet one that I suspect and most of the rest of the party many object too but that just add to the fun in my point of view, a little internal conflict is good to keep things interesting until the story get powerful enough to keep it interesting.
Feel free to have a break on your holiday we'll survive 'til you get back.

Lysa Arianna |

To quote a section on Pharasma's woshipers: "Her followers view the undead with hatred and consider them a great abomination. They view putting the undead to rest as a holy duty. The creation of undead is outlawed, and commanding undestroyed undead is not much liked either."
You try to make anything and Lysa will try to put it to rest.

Qorin |

That doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room, does it Lysa? Q'll probably be with you, because undead are just wrong.
And Gabbi, I'm also good with internal conflict, as long as it doesn't overwhelm the story. It'll come up again.
Also, I can't find much info on Iomedae, other than Righteous Valor. I think Qorin would sort of like the simplicity of that, but if anyone has any good info on what I'm supposed to stand for and all, it'd help.

Dantrian Almaeus |

Lysa Arianna |

Yeah, Pharasma had pretty much made her stance known on undead.
Well, according to one page: "As a mortal, Iomedae was a Chelish human who led the Knights of Ozem in the Shining Crusade against the forces of the Whispering Tyrant." Since the Whispering Tyrant was a lich necromancer who used undead, Iomedae may not look fondly on undead in general.
Iomedae does seem to have the least written about her of all the main deities. Though I'm pretty much limited to the info I find online. Most of our PF books are PDF versions and they are on my husbands laptop which is on the other side of the country with him, so I won't be able to read any of them again for another month.
edit - this time Dantrian beat me. :)

Dantrian Almaeus |

regarding undead: Dantrian will probably balk at the idea of creating new undead, but if Gabbi were to exert control over existing undead I think he'd approve of that tactic. Though that's likely as far as he'd go.
With a little more time I think he'll find Gabbi's theory interesting and clever, if not a little naive =)
