Nim & Bronx:
Bronx spends some time searching around the fallen bear, going backwards and forwards very carefully, sweeping snow aside, and getting increasingly frustrated that he isn't finding anything.
Eventually a malicious snickering sound comes from apparently empty air a couple of dozen feet above the heads of Bronx and Nim.
"Can't find something?", whatever it is chortles in common. "I'll bet you we took it away last night."
Bronx:
Pres Man: Hope that your trip went okay by the way. Thanks for mentioning that you wouldn't be posting for several days.

DM Charles Evans |
Seebo & Davkul:
The heavy-set wooden door into the building, visible at the back of the porch, is shut tight against the cold air of the winter day.
In the background, occasional shrieks of children playing in the snow-covered streets rise into the air.

"Industry! Ah! Fairies have no idea about industry. Go back and suck on a honey-suckle little bug. We don't have time for flea minded creatures.
Besides you are probably just a fungis wart off the arse of that creature that was just here! Ha, ha, ha!"
Bronx will put his hand on his light hammer and try to pin point the creature's location.

Bronx:
As to its hollybush comment, you've heard that some fey and fey-magic react badly with the mystical propertes of holly. (Given some druid spells require holly or holly-berries, I feel it reasonable to extend this a little to the whole bush having baleful properties vs. some fey and fey-related tricks.)

DM Charles Evans |
Seebo & Davkul:
Inside, the building is a modest sized hall which is about thirty feet long, with oak rafters, and several arches leading off to various antechambers or other areas on either side. At the far end is a large horizontal block of stone, hovering about a foot above which is what appears to a be an enormous green oak leaf which seems to be glowing with a gentle yellow-green radiance.
For visitors to the shrine to sit upon there are a number of plain wooden benches, at this end of the hall. From markings on the wall and the terracotta tiled floor, there appear to have been many more fittings at one time in this place, but there are no signs of them now.
Illumination floods into the room through a series of windows let into the roof, most facing eastwards.
Kneeling before the stone at the far end of the hall is a human male in plain robes and a hood, with a simple girdle knotted around his waist.
Apparently hearing your entry, he rises to his feet and turns to face you. He has a sickle slung at his waist, dark eyes, and his black hair and beard are showing strands of grey in places. It is difficult to be certain how old he is, though he seems to be in the peak of health.
"Greetings, little folk.", he calls out to you. "I am Curunír, principle guardian of this shrine. What brings you here this morn?"

Bronx is not trying to actively lie, but he is probably being too vague so as to be deceptive. If the little critter wants to believe they are working together, all the better for Bronx and his allies.
Here is a bluff check, you can put whatever modifiers you wish on it (bonus for fey already added in).

“I wish they’d warned me you might be showing up as well, instead of just saying ‘check every hour for troublemakers’.”, the invisible fey continues. “There must have been a band of half a dozen of them up here last night in the cloud and snow. They just evaded one of the full-grown Sacred Ones. Left behind some sort of nasty metal amulet lying in the snow. That had to be removed. Well most of the important stuff has been removed by now in case the plan does somehow miscarry- and the portable gate had to go, in case last night’s adventurers spotted it and recognised it for what it was- but I think there’s still a cache in amongst the roots of a fallen pine off to the left about a quarter of a mile north here, and it should have some items in which Markov might find handy. Well I can’t dawdle; I need to go and see where that crazy thing’s wandered off to. Still at the experimental stage, these fungus things, and maybe they need closer supervision whilst they’re growing.”
The voice goes quiet, although if you listen really hard, you might catch a faint mildly annoying tune being badly hummed, as something small passes overhead and then bears away east, scouting through the air amongst the trees.

"A scroll case vanished overnight, you mean someone stole it?"
"What was in the case?"
Turning, Seebo asks, "Davkul you know Fenwick better than I do, is there any distinguishing features or marks that can help? Ones that would be overlooked if you didn't know about them?"

Nim & Bronx:
Brushing the snow away, Bronx scrabbles in the dirt and fallen needles around the roots, and presently uncovers the top of what seems to be the top of a plain wooden box or coffer. It seems likely that this may be the ‘cache’ that the invisible fey spoke of, unless there are many fallen pine trees in these parts with boxes hidden amongst their roots. The top measures about a foot in length along each side, and is devoid of any kind of carvings or decorations- it looks to be fashioned out of oak.
Nim, standing guard somewhere out of sight below, has no idea of Bronx’s progress.
Sorry for the delay in update. I had difficulty in getting onto the boards and signing in to post on Sunday, and once I did, I waited in the hope of getting a post from Longreach/Davkul.

DM Charles Evans |
Seebo & Davkul:
Will post more within the next twenty-four hours whether or not Longreach is able to post within that time frame. I know that I have been experiencing difficulties reaching the Paizo site on some recent occasions. I think that the PostMonster has been carrying out servicing activities of some description.

DM Charles Evans |
Nim & Bronx:
With the assistance of the rope which Nim is carrying, it may be possible to lash the box to Bronx’s pony or to Nim’s pack in some way, so that it does not have to be carried two-handed by someone on the way back to town. (The dimensions are somewhat problematic for simply cramming it into Nim’s pack without spending time repacking everything.)
Time: approximately 10:51, 30th Nightal, 1383 DR
If you could discuss/make clear which way you would like to try to return to town, whether by retracing your steps exactly, or by some other route? You travelled mostly west, and possibly a little way either north or south up the side of the ridge to get back to the place with the dead bear, and have travelled a quarter of a mile or so north of that point to reach your current location.

DM Charles Evans |
Seebo & Davkul:
Curunír ducks under the low arch at the bottom of the stars, into a modest sized subterranean vault, and you both follow him. There are several slabs laid out here, and shelves affixed to the walls laid out with oils and unguents. The flicker of the solitary oil lamp does little to pierce the gloom of the corners, and the shadows it casts are long. Your breath comes out in steaming bursts, in the cold air.
Laid out on one of the slabs is the body of a halfling man. Despite the ravages worked to the face, some efforts seem to have been made to restore dignity in death. He is arrayed in mud splattered traveller’s clothes, and a fur hat has been placed by his dark haired head. He looks to have been barely an adult.
I will supply a reaction for Davkul in 24 hours, if he continues to remain unable to post for any reason.

Bronx: Will heading straight down through the trees to the valley floor, and then making you way back north or south to town (if necessary) suit you as a planned course of travel? It is likely to keep you well clear of the site where you left the dead bear and last heard the invisible fey active.

DM Charles Evans |
Seebo & Davkul:
"As I said, my studies of the teachings of the Oak Father- especially given the circumstances of my severely restricted opportunity to make observations of the primary ritual site or evidence of workings- leave me unable to make any kind of specific guess as to the nature of the ritual which was attempted.", Curunír sighs. "As to the deceased, you can see him lying there for yourselves.", he indicates the body on the slab. "There was a lead scroll tube of some sort, sealed at both ends, with him when he was brought in late yesterday afternoon- the tradesman and those who helped bring him here didn't like to interfere with it, in case it was anything magic, and given the lingering necromantic auras surrounding the body and every item with it at the time it was difficult to determine if there was anything in particular special about the scroll tube; I had intended to more thoroughly investigate it this morning, having prayed for appropriate guidance, but it unfortunately disappeared from this vault overnight. Excuse me sir. Are you alright?" This last remark is addressed to Davkul who has approached the body and has picked up the hat to inspect it, before putting it back down. Davkul has an expression of confusion and just a touch of desperation on his face.
"I don't understand.", Davkul says, shaking his head. "It can't be Fenwick. We saw him alive last night- or at least seemed to do so- and this poor fellow has been dead for several days. And yet there is a certain resemblance..."

Seebo Murnig |

GM Charles and Davkul
"Davkul are you sure?"
"Curunír, my friend here met with a halfling at Mrs Preswick's last night, we assumed he was our associate."
"He disappeared in al the ruckus and turmoil of the fighting. We tracked him for some distance, but lost the trail."
"If Davkul here can be more certain, it opens up a whole new lot of questions and gives us no more answers."
"Curunír, may I trouble you for a personal assessment of someone here in town?"

Nim & Bronx:
If you come on any serious snowdrifts which need trampling through, Nim may need to put to box down (if that turns out to matter for any reason) but going downhill snowdrifts will probably be much less bother to force through anyway, owing to being able to bring weight to bear down on top of them.
Okay, Nim, I'm fine with that.
Awaiting route confirmation from Bronx.

DM Charles Evans |
Seebo & Davkul:
"You can ask me by all means, though I may not be personally acquainted with them if I do not regularly meet with them, or at least hear of them.", Curunír replies in answer to Seebo's question to him, his tone grave. "Whilst I do my best to ensure that the work of the Oak Father is carried out in this valley my myself and those who serve with me, many folk prefer to seek the divine guidance or protection of other faiths whose holy men or women occasionally visit town, and not all of those people carry out such deeds that I hear tell anything of note of them. Of whom did you wish to hear my thoughts?"
