I would like to run a campaign using the Adventures on Dungeon Planet system, a space opera hack of Dungeon World that uses the same general 2d6 mechanics as Dungeon World.
Dungeon World is a story-driven ruleset for sword and sorcery RPGs. The system is based around 2d6 dice.
When you want to take an action, you roll 2d6 + the modifier of your relevant stat. If you roll a 6 or below, you gain an XP point (XP is tracked individually, 7+your level to level up) and fail the roll. If you get a 7-9 result, you succeed at what you're trying to do, but there's an unforeseen complication. Maybe your armor gets damaged, you get injured while trading blows in combat, or you get thrown into a disadvantageous position by a space troll. If you roll a 10 or above, you succeed! It's basically that simple.
The game works in a very free-flow manner. If you want to attempt something, attempt it; I as the DM will tell you if it needs a roll to determine success. I will also, on rare occasions make rolls on your character's behalf to keep the action moving and manage difficulty.
Most of the rules for specific situations are on an easy-to-navigate SRD Wiki found here.
This campaign is set in a generic fantasy world fast forwarded to the age of intragalactic space travel. Through a fusion of ancient magic and modern technology the gods and denizens of the planet Misneach are finally able to explore beyond the heavens ... only to discover that they are far from alone in the universe. The players role in this universe, whether as mercenaries, pirates, traders, a mix, or something entirely different, will be decided by the players before and during play.
The Dungeon Planet hack has four core classes. These classes can be viewed here:
The Earthling
The Engine of Destruction
The Mutant
The Technician
The Dungeon Planet hack and this campaign is also fully compatible with the official 11 Dungeon World classes. These classes can be viewed here:
Arcane Duelist (3pp)
Barbarian
Bard
Cleric
Druid
Fighter
Immolator
Paladin
Ranger
Thief
Wizard
Meanwhile, there is a big list of alternative, third-party classes that fit Dungeon World/Dungeon Planet rules. I'll allow use of any of them, if you can make the PDF of the class you purchased available to me for reference.
FAQs:
What races/alignments are available?
Races: With the exodus into the galactic community, species prejudice has largely fallen to the wayside. Individuals are largely judged on what they do, rather than on what they were born as. As a result, almost any traditional fantasy or sci fi race/monster is available to players. We can create custom racial moves that make sense if you don't choose the default options.
Alignments: Any, but I'm not allowing PvP. I might change my stance on this if I grow to know the players in the party well enough, but at first I'll be enforcing this rule pretty strictly.
What is your GM style?
I generally believe that PbP Dungeon World works best when the players are given a large degree of narrative control, and are allowed to exercise some GM authority. This keeps gameplay as fast as possible and allows players to really participate in building the story. If you would like to vet my style, you can view a previous PbP that I ran (before it fizzled out) here.

I shall be joining you all for this fine adventure! I have tweaked a character I already had ready and he is now prepared for the grand space adventure will will embark on!
Bone'ead Rotgut! He's an Ogre of the Ogre class. His interests (and many of his class skills) involve eating, smashing things that confuse him, and eating!!

Pork, I definitely had your Ogre concept in mind when I wrote that bit about removal of species prejudice part. Space Ogre should prove interesting.
I'm ok with large or small groups. Once the players embrace the scope of narrative control I will be handing over, it should move along regardless of the number of players (fingers crossed).
I wrote that I may occasionally roll for you. This will almost exclusively take the form of Defy Danger rolls. I'll make a call on which stat is appropriate, and I will always be open to after the roll efforts to convince me a better stat should have applied.

Can I still be a drider?
This drider? Sounds good to me.
Just as a caveat for everyone: You can play as any Dungeon World compatible class. However, if you somehow manage to get +4 or +5 to your key rolls, I reserve the right to pull out the nerfhammer.
EDIT: I had an experience in a prior group where one of the players literally could not fail a Volley.

Can each of you roll 6d6 one time? I'd like to start building our factions so we can start building our universe. The first five players (maybe more if we need more factions) will be describing, naming etc. one of these factions. The 6d6 roll is a random table to decide that faction's general characteristics. This mechanic is pulled from Uncharted Worlds.

Welcome!
Generally, this faction is an Avaricious (random table came up Rapacious, but I do not like this term) Political Corporation. Same general questions that I posed to Sona. However, the more detail you want to add the better.
Remember that these factions have huge areas of influence (multiple star systems).

Theta Securities is the largest purvayor of android technologies in the sector. The mobile satelite factory is run by the AI digital copy of its founder, Colonel Sigma Phi, a gnome from a forgotten age. Some suspect that the digitization process fractured the Colonel's mind and that the shards have mutually exclusive goals. This is because the actions of Theta Securities are seemingly random. People tolerate the mobile military camp because it sells what are effectively slaves for ludicrusly low prices. A "Colonel's deal" is a colloqialism for a deal that's too good to be true, but you can't fathom what the catch might be.
Theta Securities' mission statement: to equip the cosmos with the tools of contentment; to fight for cosmic peace.
Organics are not permitted onboard the mobile factory for safety reasons. People are suspicious of Theta models because they are so cheap. They think the have some kind of hidden kill switch.

@MCKhaos: Looking to play a Druid, but wanting an interesting interstellar race or race-variant. Any idea where I can find rules for non-core races? 3PP?

Generally, this faction is a Secretive Mercenary Federation.
The Dungeon Planet core book has some rules for aliens etc. However, Heritage Moves originally from the Planar Codex should allow you to come up with racial moves for any race/monster. Take a look at the Dungeon World SRD monster section for some monster moves you could take. You can also propose some you make yourself and we can talk about them.

Just looked at the linked Drider - so is that a class/race? Got links to more? :)
That is a class, like the druid class. That class just happens to involve being half Spider half whatever.
There is a list of 3rd party classes here. These and many more available on various online rpg stores. If you find one you like it will probably work.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention that I do not want multiple characters with the same class. There are many many options to choose from. First come first serve on classes unless you work something else out.

For the reccord, the gnome Theta Sigma Phi is a refrence to the journalism sorority. Miss Phi invented the androids thousands of years ago as automated social media companions. They were meant to follow you around and post vines to generate dank memes. What the faction does now is a corruption of that original business model.

Ha. Hopefully one of you has a good relationship with this faction so you can get a discount on dank memes.

Faction Name: T.E.R.R.A. (Terraforming Energy Resources into Revenue Association)
Type: Corporate Political Faction/Government (Avaricious, Nefarious, Scandal laden, Dangerous.)
Leadership: Board of Directors
Important People: Van Delindt President and CEO(Human Male), Z8-TR CFO(Android, pronounced Zater Genderless), Jallindy CIO(Mutant Female), Hiro Delindt VP (Human Male), Various other board members.
Associated Worlds: Terra-1, Terra- 2, The Nero System 1-12, The Zylon Cluster. Thousands of mining stations on asteroids and uncharted planets, usually labeled TMS(Terra Mining Site) #-#.### EX. TMS 7-1.008
Summary
T.E.R.R.A. Is an expansionist mining company that has spent several hundred years growing and trying to build a positive image. Starting as Ore miners with headquarters on Terra 1 who mined on Terra 2, the Delindt family came to own the corporation some 500 years ago and have been expanding ever since, using the family's own mass wealth to start them off. At first they expanded into the Nero system of twelve planets and moons to mine Rodemion Ore, a basic lightweight metal used in buildings and ships. Inside the ore however is a rare crystal called Nero-C. An advanced crystalline compound needed for advanced stardrives and Computer/medical technology. They work in this system by buying of the loose confederate colonist government coalition and are generally considered the power in the area. 150 years ago they expanded rapidly into the Zylon cluster, several systems in a nebula ripe with Zylon gas. A hyper conductive gas substance used in spacefaring engines and many other things. TERRA has a reputation of being notoriously heavy handed with government officials, overlooking safety violations and preferring to work in lawless sectors where they are rumored to have the highest worker death toll of any company in the universe. It is rumored that they partake in the slave trade and use indentured workers, and will put down worker revolts with lethal brutality. In the core worlds, they maintain a friendly face and deny all allegations of wrongdoing. They are immensely wealthy as they have an effective monopoly on the resources they provide.

[dice = Faction ] 6d6
This faction is a Tyrannical Diplomatic (odd combo) Syndicate. This seems pretty close to the Avaricious Political Corporation, so you can reroll this if you like.
Looks like this universe is going to be pretty dark. Not a single benevolent faction so far. Although to be fair the options on the random table are mostly dark.

Faction: The Lodestar Combinat (Secretive Mercenary Federation)
Symbol: A radiant shadowed star on a Black Hole field.
Leaders: Unknown. Various mouthpieces and third party points of contact exist.
This amalgamation of various vying elder crime families, ancient dark martial arts clans and nouveau riche galaxy dominating wannabes are tied together under the Unspoken Concord, whose tenets are unknown by any creature outside the Combinat. TLC's aims are fairly straightforward - amassing filthy lucre by providing the most efficient, deadliest and most dread mercs in any sector.
Dealings with the Lodestar Combinat are notoriously cheap and notoriously binding - easy to enter, impossible to renege. The twin adages "heavier than a Lodestar's bounty" and "easier to fly a Black Hole run than skip out on a Lodestar deal" make the point clearest.

I'll keep things simple and be a Fighter. Signature weapon should be fun to create...
I should warn you that the Engine of Destruction class (selected by 2BR) was created to be a modern variant of the fighter. So there is likely a bit of overlap. For example, I think both classes start with the move that allows you to break through inanimate objects.

I'd be happy to swap that ability out for something else if there is undesirable stacking within the group. Apart from that ability there are no other direct correlations, though I did want to choose scale armor...
How about I drop the BBLG ability for an extra enhancement on my signature weapon?
Perhaps you could take a different starting move from one of the other classes that are not in play that fits with your character concept. Just dropping one of your starting moves would diminish the versatility of the character.
