Tears of the Unworthy, what a stench! Vlazis's normal composure is shattered by the sheer reek emanating from the creatures.

Choking back bile he prepares a prayer to the First King to put these creatures to flight. Ready Cause Fear at the first one to make a hostile move DC 13 or frightened, shaken on success

Some of you try talking through the olfactory assault, while others prepare spells or wait to see what happens.
Zarzuket casts a spell to make the floor slick. One of them falls to the floor, while the other is able to keep his feet.

Egil begins to sing, then readies his weapon as well against a charge from the creatures.

Vlazis is nearly overcome, but is able to choke out a prayer, sending a wave of fear towards the enemy as one grabs for a javelin.

Theon sighs as the unnecessary violence, but realizes there is little to be done at this point. That creature will only call out an alarm, or try to kill them for beheading his comrade... He steps up and strikes hard with his glaive, but tries to use the blunt edge in hopes of knocking the beast unconscious for questioning...

Zarzuket: From your position inside the stairwell, your posts were not possible. I have moved you forward into the room to accommodate your posts. Unfortunately, loading a sling is a move action as well, so Pip can't fire this round. We will keep that roll though. Just remember that cover may apply next round if Pip stays where he is.

Egil: No worries!

Zarzuket and Pip move into the room before Z fires a crossbow bolt, but his heaving stomach keeps him from drawing a clear bead on his target.
Pip follows behind, loading his sling.

Egil steps into the fray, easily decapitating one of the creatures!
Vlazis grants Theon some divine aid, which comes in handy as the man reverses his glaive and gives the lizard man a solid thunk on the temple, dropping him back to the grease covered floor in a heap.

Out of Combat! The sickness will wear off for everyone in about 2 minutes, even for the worst hit. I am assuming that you will wait that long before going anywhere else!

I quite agree Egil. I have seen nothing to suggest that these creatures deserve mercy, only that they might know more of this tower than we do.

Just realized that I never really described the room, just the smell and the troglodytes! So sorry about that. I have a tendancy to go off script every now and then.. sometimes it messes me up!

Skai:
These are indeed troglodytes. If there is any info you need, let me know. I assume you are familiar with them?

Racks for weapons line the walls of this chamber; above the racks hang various shields, pieces of armor, weapons, and standards on display. Most of the racks are empty, but a few weapons remain in place. Flanking the stairway you ascended are two heavy ancient doors resting solidly in their jambs.

Egil looks half heartedly around the room, but doesn't see anything out of the ordinary. Suddenly, the man clutches his stomach and doubles over.. before running out of the room and disappears down the stairway. It seems that the smell in the room has done what no blade could, and chased him from the tower.

Team: do not fret, I have allowed PW to change out his characters. Although this is not the normal course of things, I believe that for now it is the best way to handle it.

PW: introduce your new character as you wish please.

All: If you would like to examine the weapons, please provide an Appraise check. For the banners, I will need a K. Local to glean any information from them.

Thanks for working with me on that, Devildoc. I would have handled that differently if I'd understood the rule and didn't want to mess up the continuity of the three scenarios. Sorry to switch characters, but I'm glad we're just at the start.

Egil suddenly becomes violently ill from the stench and is unable to continue. In his place, a backup Pathfinder introduces himself.

He has dark hair, brown eyes, and medium skin tones, and wears the loose, light clothing of the desert. He carries a finely-crafted fauchard and wears scale armor.

"I am Khafra Almaktoum," he says. "I am glad to make your acquaintance. [b]"Be sure that we leave the dead to their rest," he says as he looks over the two dead troglodytes.

"None must desecrate them in their eternal sleep."

Khafra appears from the stairwell and introduces himself, while Vlazis looks over the weapons and banners. He notices that a few of the weapons don't look half bad, but is unable to discern any more. As for the banners, he is completely at a loss as to what they may represent.

"Skai, what languages does this creature speak? Are we even going to be able to interrogate it? If not, then let us waste no more time of the beast. We will tie it up and leave it for now."

He watches as Egil suddenly rushes out of the tower and turns to see a replacement there waiting in the stairwell. "Strange. Clearly Egil was needed for something more important! Well met, Khafra. I am Theon d'Malheur."

With Skai's help, Vlazis is able to pick out a Masterwork silver dagger and a masterwork light steel shield emblazoned with a leaping dolphin that have withstood the ravages of time. The rest of the weapons are too rotted to be of any use. Just as Skai is about to turn away, she notices a banner hanging in the corner that is also in good condition for the many years it has stood there. It depicts a bird made of living flame, but no one yet can remember who's standard that may have been.

With a grimace on his face, Vlazis sucks in a deep breath in case more Troglodytes are on the other side.

Egil decides to check the other door, and leads the way. Judging from the shelves lining the walls, this darkened room might once have been a storeroom, though its contents have long since succumbed to the passage of time. A crack in the northern wall has apparently let in some rainwater, which has collected in a large puddle on the floor. Sitting in the middle of the room sits an odd little lizard. As the door is opened, it tilts its head at you in a curious manner and takes a hesitant step forward.

You have indeed heard of the "Shocker Lizard" as a wary but territorial lizard that conducts the very powers of lightning through its body. Looking closer, you can see tiny sparks arcing over its skin and between its horns. You know that should you get too close, the creature will direct some of this lightning towards you!

Egil quickly removes some jerky from his pack and tosses it into the room.

"The legends of the shocker lizard must be true! Witness the sparks arcing over its skin! I do not think it is hostile unless we come into its territory," he says as he shuts the door.

The team tosses an offering to the little lizard before closing the door again. Theon leads the way around the tower.. but as soon as he sets foot into the dust covered room, the sharp SCHTUNG of a weighted trap sounds just as a javelin buries itself into the man. Luckily, its just a flesh wound, and he carries on.

Theon listens at the door, but can only hear the whine of the wind. Opening the door, he reveals a partially collapsed room with a door on the other side. Judging from the layout of the place, the door most likely leads back to the lizard room.
