Barm

Barm decides to climb over the obstacle.
Climb + guidance: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 1 = 16
When he comes to the top, he throws the ropes down so that others can easier to climb. One end of the rope ties for the stone (if it is possible and if it is not then he holds it)
"Use rope to climb"

Erwin seems mildly discontent that he wasn't able to move the barricade on his own.
climb: 1d20 + 4 - 5 ⇒ (7) + 4 - 5 = 6
Even though the rope made it easier, he had to admit after several attempts, he just wasn't strong enough. "Er... hmm. Guess I should have learned how to do this while in heavy armor. I'll just go through it all."
And Erwin begins his slow trudging through the barricade.

"Can you see where you're going?
Should I send some light your way?"
got light or dancing lights, whichever is best. The latter may draw out an ambusher.
Bramble Whortham

I'll cast dancing lights, in its humanoid form, and send it strolling slowly (20' move) down the corridor.
I still have a lighted bullet, for dropping into deep holes.

DC15 climb or acrobatics check. Or 4 squares of movement to move through 1 square of the barricade.
GM, could you mark the barricade on the map? It's tough to tell where we are..all are pawns still seem bunched up on the stairs.
Kyra says a prayer to Sarenrae, (cast guidance on herself) stows her shield on her back, grabs the rope, and begins to climb.
climb: 1d20 + 2 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 1 - 3 = 16

Narrow workbenches crowded with partially constructed porcelain and wood mannequins ring most of the room’s perimeter, and one table holds an inanimate mummy.
Inside is something working on one of the mummies and looks up when you enter.Picture of Badru in the maps and Handout section.
"You are of the jeweled sages. How can Badru help you?"
You also see something in the back. This gargoyle-like creature has long spiky legs and a bat-like head, its body seems to be made of living, dark purple crystal.

"Badru," Erwin began "we are allies of the Jeweled Sages. We understand you are in some sort of struggle with Saruna. We've heard what she's had to say, now tell us your side of things."
After he spoke Erwin willed his sight to sense any Evil auras.
Erwin is beginning the use of a typical version of Detect Evil to catch the full 60 ft. cone, rather than a single target.
| Kyra / lucklesshero's pregen |
Kyra, sensing some unease from Erwin cast Divine Favor on herself, before responding to Badru. She then speaks up proudly, We do not belong to the order of the Jeweled Sages. We are in service to them. We have answered your question; now answer one of ours. You have been accused of your fellow guardian, of trying to destroy parts of the reliquary of knowledge and using it's contents for your own means. What say you to these accusations? Kyra has light cast on her shield, Her shield drawn and ready. As previously mentioned she just cast divine favor. She has one hand free to cast spells (her scimitar is not drawn yet)

Staying at the door, I will cast detect magic, and scan the room while they talk. I'm especially interested in whether any of the mannequins show signs of animation.

A construct that's evil... why is nothing here normal? Erwin let himself think.
His eyes narrowed at Badru. "I'm not sure if you meant for your question to be menacing, Badru, but it was. What Kyra said is true, we are not directly part of the Jeweled sages but we were tasked by them to come here and preserve their history.
I'll clarify, if you don't mean to be our enemy, then by The Dawn flower's grace, start talking."
Erwin is declaring a Smite against Badru. Not attacking, yet. Just being ready if this conversation goes sideways.

Oh Sarenrae please guide my actions and words. [ooc](if Bardu is a spellcaster it's a simple spellcraft check to see that Kyra just cast guidance.) Kyra clears her throat, er um..we wish nor wish to provoke any violence on you. Our mission is simply to preserve the knowledge of this library and inventory it's contents. We have leeway in how we choose to do this. Our immediate question to you would be, "do you intend to oppose our mission and or is it opposed to your own goals?" If the Bardu still seems willing to talk after her question, Kyra will continue. Because, if our goals are not opposed, perhaps we can aid each other...in whatever manor seems most fruitful to both parties? Kyra waits for the answer while nervously fidgeting, with the holy symbol of her goddess.

"I don't mean to be your enemy, but I will not be your ally. Besides, I'll not leave my companions with one who invokes such soul damaging rights as you to create those undead abominations. Your private war against Saruna almost caused irreparable damage to the area you were both once sworn to protect. We are here to preserve that place now.
We know from Saruna that you both have half of a jewel that will let you escape from here. But that one of you will almost certainly have to be destroyed which is why you spend time creating minions to fight one another. Is that all there is to it now?"
Diplomacy?: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
This honestly feels more like an intimidate check, in which case the result is 10 lower.

Badru seems a bit mollified, but your words are not very diplomatic. Still he is a bit less angry at you.
"You are correct, that we booth accept our transformation because we tried to protect the library. But Saruna was not worthy and she needs to be destoryed to open the library, as I would need her heart gem to make a "substitute" that will open it again."

It seems a pity. You are both set on destroying each-other. But, might not the Library suffer? In the midst of battle? Collateral damage seems likely when two powerful beings pit their wills and abilities against one another? Might there be a better way? or at least a safe spot where neither of you risk damaging the Library's priceless knowledge and relics? Kyra raises an eye questioningly. diplomacy+guidance: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 12 + 1 = 15

Kyra continues to quietly pray for Guidance while waiting for Badru, to respond to her proposal. to sum up the Kyra's proposal she suggested the two guardians find a place to 'have it out' with one another, that won't destroy or put in danger any of the precious information or relics of the library. (i already rolled diplomacy)

"I believe your words fall on deaf ears here, Kyra. It seems Badru's mind has become cold and hardened with rationalization. We need to protect the library, I say we act as Saruna's proxy and end this."
Erwin Whitemane
|
Well, the Paladin is officially throwing down the gauntlet. Could have walked away from the laboratory, maybe could've convinced Badru and Saruna to just go at it themselves. But no, he's ready to remove this particular evil from the world.
Hope I didn't just throw us into an unwinnable fight.

The detection should reveal whether the mannequins are powered by necromancy, or transmutation(?), so could hint whether we're facing undead or constructs.
Arcana: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
How many potential combatants are radiating magic?
I'll point them out to Erwin.
"Watch out for the figure on the table, it could be alive."
Plus, the 'gargoyle', any idea what that is?
| Kyra / lucklesshero's pregen |
While listing to Bardu's and Erwin's exchange, Kyra takes out a potion of Eagles splendor and drinks it.
I believe your words fall on deaf ears here, Kyra. It seems Badru's mind has become cold and hardened with rationalization. We need to protect the library, I say we act as Saruna's proxy and end this."
Kyra winks at Erwin as she turns back to address Bardu. Very well Bardu, I believe you two are set for inevitable confrontation. Would you like to hear Sauuna's words on the matter? Her challenge is right here. Kyra pats her pouch and begins to retrieve a scroll.
bluff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
GM Kyra is retrieving a scroll of circle of protection from evil. She will un-roll it and cast it if allowed. You may want to give Bardu a sense motive against my bluff here.
