Before you retreat the golems attack one more time.
The glass golem attacks Merisiel,
Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 352d8 + 5 ⇒ (1, 2) + 5 = 8
Confirm: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 292d8 + 5 ⇒ (6, 2) + 5 = 13
Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 162d8 + 5 ⇒ (4, 4) + 5 = 13
the wood Barm.
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 161d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 161d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
One attacks manage to hit, but unfortunately it is a crit. (21 Damage)
Forgot the grease roll.
Refl: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Merisiel how many HP do you have left?
The pathfinders manage to withdraw.
Lem, you are cursed. You take a –1 penalty on attacks, skill checks, and saving throws.
Saruna explains you now have to purify the gem.
[ooc]The PCs can cast remove curse, perform a 1-hour ritual using the moonlight in Thoth’s chapel.

So the golems don't follow us upstairs?
Remember what point they gave up the pursuit.
Can we cure everyone with wands, while we wait?
And assume each charge heals average 5hp, to reduce rolling?
Save channels for emergency healing in combat.
How many hp damage do we need to heal for everyone?
Bramble Whortham
|
When we're healed, anyone not needed to help Saruna's ritual ought to check out the rooms in the lower half of the upstairs map.
It would be ironic, if there was a big lever on the wall, marked 'switch off golems here'.
Barm
|
Can Saruna somehow remove Barm's negative levels?
So, after purifying the gem we return to the room with golems?
Erwin Whitemane
|
"Well that was nearly disastrous." Erwin said. "Badru was more hardened in his mindset than I thought. Perhaps we can take some time to rest and give Barm a chance to recover.
Kyra, do you think you can help him now?"
| Kyra / lucklesshero's pregen |
Only if Kyra thinks it will help does she do this.
Kyra examines Barm's wounds heal check: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19 and then takes out her scroll of lesser restoration and cast it on Barm. lesser restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Let Sarenrae's healing light guide you good warrior.

Erwin looked taken aback momentarily by Seoni's words. "I did not mean to dismiss your wounds, Seoni. I had noticed the effect it had on Barm more readily as I was fighting alongside him.
But now that we're out of danger for the moment, I will assist with healing."
Channel Positive Energy1: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3) = 12
Channel Positive Energy2: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 4) = 12
Channel Positive Energy3: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2) = 11
Erwin will use Lay on Hands for anyone still wounded after that.
Barm
|
I still need 15 HP
Barm drinks potion to heal.
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (8, 5) + 3 = 16
Now I am ok!
Are we all ok now? asks Barm after rest.
Bramble Whortham

"Then it looks like we may have to go back another day, unless Kyra has it already prepared?"
(To Saruna)
"Unless you are able to cast such a spell, milady?
Would that be something you would be able and willing to do for us, in exchange for our help?
And what exactly, does the purified gem allow us to do? Will it force the golems to stand down, or even aid us? As we still have to find the route to the ancient machine, which we did not see as yet."
Diplomacy, if required: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27

It seems harsh, for any party with no caster capable of casting remove curse. My meta-sense is tingling.
From way back on page 5,
"Also in the south is the office of the librarian and finally the pools of the elements."
Would seem to be worth a look.
"Is there no other means of purifying the jewel, than that specific spell?
It may be worth taking stock of the objects and resources we have found so far.
We have two wands, a canopic jar(?), some ancient scrolls from the first corridor alcoves, heiroglyphs on the maze passage, anyone think of anything else?
Plus whatever may be found in the other rooms on this floor.
There may be a magical scroll stored there, or another method of purifying the gem, without the spell."
"Hmm. Now that I think of it.
Does this belong to you, perhaps? Or Badru?"
(holds up the jar)
| Kyra / lucklesshero's pregen |
Kyra interjects, I could beseech Sarenrae for the spell at tomorrow's Sunrise. However, It seems we passed a library, perhaps we could find the proper scroll located there? Kyra doesn't have 'read magic' memorized but, I could do a spellcraft check on the 2 scrolls
spellcraft scroll 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6spellcraft scroll 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 If unable to decipher the scrolls; Kyra searches the library for a scroll of remove curse 'taking 20'; if still unable to acquire a remove curse today. Kyra returns to the surface. Ask the Sapphire Sage if she can return tomorrow to cast remove curse (after she memorizes it in the morning.

Saruna admits that there is another option, you can cast remove curse and immerse the gem in the raw elements from to purify it. She is not in favor of it. Once it is purified you just have to present it to the glass golem. It should cease fighting then and the mark of isis should transfer to the gem to create a flawed sage jewel.
"My heart, you found my heart! Many Many thanks. Now I just need someone to reverse the process. Do you think the pathfinders could help me here?"
And to reach the library you need to pass the golems with the flawed jewel.
| Kyra / lucklesshero's pregen |
Kyra addresses Saruna in the following manner, Although it is fact that, you still hold some semblance of life, in the walking corpse you inhabit...I do not consider you fully alive, and therefore an abomination to the Dawnflower. However, I feel that your presence may somehow be connected and even required in this place. Kyra's eyes narrow at Saruna. I will consult our liege in this matter, The Diamond Sage Tahonikepsu. If she gives me permission to help you...I will pray to the Dawnflower to lift the curse on the gem tomorrow at sunrise. Kyra then taps her scimitar. However, if she bids me to destroy all interlopers residing in their library... I'll have no problem fulling that duty either Says Kyra while taping her sword and staring daggers in to the undead Sphinx.
Without another word, Kyra turns and begins to make her way to the top of the complex to go and consult with the Diamond sage Tahonikepsu. She doesn't bother bringing the Gem..sure that one of her colleagues will retrieve it. She doesn't stop until she reaches the surface.
OK Kyra will return to the surface and tell the Diamond sage all that's transpired so far. She ask plainly if the party should help Saruna or destroy the creature. If Saruna tries to stop Kyra before she leaves to perform this duty...we should roll for initiative because Kyra will attack the creature should she be stopped from performing what she feels is her duty. Lastly, unless pulled in to a combat before she can leave..Kyra rest an entire night on the surface re-memorizing her spells

Kyra nods shakes her head in frustration...at hearing that, Tahonikepsu is no longer at the spires. She prays all night for guidance and in the morning ask Sarenrae for the spells that the Goddess thinks Kyra should have for the day. When she departs her tent in the morning she spends some time in contemplation watching the sunrise. After meditating, Kyra is sure of her coarse. When she meets her companions for breakfast Kyra says, Do you have the gem? After receiving the gem...Kyra ask Sarenrae to cleanse the gem of all filth evil and ancient curses..Kyra cast remove curse on the Gem.
Kyra then quietly hands the gem back to whoever gave it to her and says, I will not be returning to the complex. My conscious and my training forbade me to help that undead abomination further. You may do as you like...I will not stop you. I will finish my report to our superiors at the society while I await your return. Please, do not ask me to come with you ...there is nothing you can do to convince me. Sarenrae herself as blessed my decision. With that Kyra quietly walks away from her companions and returns to her own tent.
| Helikon |
Kyra has no problem regaining her spells and the remove curse works utterly flawless, giving her the feeling that she is doing the right thing!
Armed with the flawed gem you return to the golems and the golems walk towards you, till Lem presents the gem. The golems stopp in their tracks and after a few seconds the glass golem crumbles to pieces.
The entrance to the library opens.

Before Kyra leaves.
"As a fellow Sarenite, I understand your decision to not help Saruna. Still, I will not leave this task to the rest of our companions to complete on their own. But more than that, Sarenrae teaches compassion and the possibility of redemption. Normally Undead are usually our enemy, but perhaps she is an exception to the norm. Should she appears to be false and betrays us... I will end it. If she is truly remorseful of her transformation, then perhaps I can help to redeem her."
He smiled. "You go on ahead and take care of the paperwork and we'll see you back at the lodge when we're done here." With that, the paladin waved to the departing Cleric.
Once they have returned to the library.
Erwin glanced around at the group. "Alright then, let's see how much of this is still here." With that, he readied his sword and began walking ahead of the group.

"I suspect, once her heart is put back, she may be transformed back into her former life.
Or crumble to dust, as the years catch up. Either way, would appear to be a successful conclusion for her."

"I confess, I have been rather overwhelmed by this mission. Most everything we met has been mindless, or otherwise immune to mental compulsion, which cramps my style a great deal.
Nevertheless, I dislike leaving a job undone, and I'm willing to work around that obstacle, to protect and boost the rest of you."
"Plus, gold, treasure and fame. Of course.
Do this, and I'll have the scratch to buy that tavern I have my eye on.
And I'll be able to suggest that my future missions be in the bustling urban sprawl, where a quick tongue gets the goods."

Bramble's comments made him stop and consider the situation for a moment.
"That's not all your magic can do. If your opponents are resistant to your magic, then help the rest of us instead."
With that he looked down at his Holy symbol of the Dawnflower and closed his eyes.
"Sarenrae, I call to you, grace my blade with your purifying fire. May my strikes strike true the heart of evil foes."
Activating his divine bond to grant his blade the flaming property 7 minutes. Then he is casting Bless weapon. 4 minutes.

"Anything odd around there?
These builders can be very tricky.
Best sing you a searching song."
"I spy, with my little eye,
Something beginning with T.
For dungeons have a pattern
For things that will flatten
And pierce and eviscerate me."

There's a new map below the others. I've copied the tokens onto it, but I'm not sure where we arrive.
Are these the same creatures as the destroyed ones in the golem room? And what are we on/in? Is the blue sea, or sky? Or ethereal planes?

You look around and you notice that this is a strange reception area.
A cool breeze swirls off the water of a vast underground lake surrounding this location, carrying the scent of old parchment from the vast library. To the north, three statues appear to support an immense crystal. Constellations shine in the darkness above, while a luminous solar disk drifts slowly north to south, brightening the library with golden light. A door to the south leads into a small building.
