Phem, maybe you can dry me off with your... Wish me luck! Leaving his pack and cloak on the outcropping, Gerard dives in after the blade thinking...
With my luck, damn thing will be stuck. Positive attitude Nisroc...

Gerard considers if he's heard of any special weapon like this one. A small blade, skill and finesse. A dull blade so as not to reflect the light... stealth.
It's not a dagger, but it will do. A nice addition to his choice of tools.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Euphemia moved into the next room, frown deeply etched on her face.
"Gerard, your intelligence and wisdom are UNPROPORTIONAL!" she calls out in fear, the edge replacing that of anger.
Euphemia begins chanting the invocation for summoning a water elemental.
Summon Monster 4 expended. The elemental will be charged with saving him.

Wake up to drama!
Once the two Chuuls are dead, Andrea channels to heal everyone.
Channel heal: 8d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 1, 3, 1, 3, 2, 3) = 20 Bleh
She then taps Orsin with the wand of CSW
CSW: 3d8 + 12 ⇒ (1, 6, 6) + 12 = 25
20 to everyone, 45 to Orsin
We simply must get you some better armor, Orsin. I'll pitch in if it means that giant lobsters keep their claws away from your ribs.
She then sips a potion of CLW CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Andrea slices off a bit of the big Chuul while Gerard is treasure hunting again. Revenge is a dish best served in a light garlic sauce. She does look on in exasperation as Gerard keeps trying to get the sword and must get bailed out by Euphemia.
Daniel Arrisen
Daniel rolls his eyes at the spectacle.
He looks at his hand to confirm his RING OF WATER BREATHING is still firmly on his hand and wades in after the rogue.
Coming my friend.
In all his armor Daniel will simply submerge and walk along the bottom of the pool. Not bothering to swim since drowning is not an issue.
Orsino 'Orsin' Bessatte
Orsin produces his wand of cure moderate wounds and uses two of its charges to heal himself.
Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2) + 3 = 7
Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (8, 1) + 3 = 12 Back at full now. :)

Now Orsin knows how I feel when I went underwater in the Knot
Let us just call this a wash. We can always coem abck and get it afterwards.
She then points at the grate to the north. Let us examine that, it might lead to where we want to go.

Daniel's perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
This area of the water is bit murky and to your surprise when you stepped into the water and began to walk, you suddenly sink, and sink, and sink much further than you imagined. As you stepped into some sort or crevice.
perception, chuul: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28
Daniel you and the chuul are face to face!
Init.
Daniel: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Chuul: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
The chuul attacks the flat-footed paladin:
claw 1: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18;damage, plus grab: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 6) + 7 = 16;
CMB v CMD: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31;
constrict: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 6) + 7 = 19
claw 2: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18;damage, plus grab: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 6) + 7 = 14;
CMB v CMD: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (7) + 19 = 26;
constrict: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 4) + 7 = 16
Daniel Arrisen
The paladin feels the impact as clumsy attempts to harm him through his enchanted armor fail.
Retreat at this point was not an option, the assault on him would continue until the chuul or he was dead.
He pulls his shield in close to better hold his defenses and SMITES EVIL.
1 hand SMITE, DF, PA: 1d20 + 17 + 4 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (4) + 17 + 4 + 2 - 3 = 24

Dice roller hates me! Oh well.
Gerard Nisroc
Gerard looks up, wet and disheveled. Just bring the boat over. It's about 10-15 feet for heaven's sake.
Removing a rope from his pack, the rogue ties one end to his waist, letting the looped silken length hang at his belt.
Taking a breath he dives back in.
Swim: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Swim: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Gerard ties the roped around the hilt/pommel securely, so that he may attempt to pull the sword loose while standing on the small island. He then swims back.
50' rope, sword was 10 feet down, should be enough length.
Swim: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Swim: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Swim: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Swim: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Swim: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
After a rough time with the rope and current (i think) he manages to get to the island and "dry" ground.
Strength: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Strength: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Strength: 1d20 ⇒ 5
He keeps trying until Orsin or Frank get there.
Strength: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Strength: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Does the rope afford any leverage?
baldwin the merciful
As Gerard is figuring out how to get the treasure there is an air bubble or two that floats to the surface between the boat and rock cropping. Paying that no mind, Gerard figures out his course of action. Using rope he dives back under the surface and after some struggle he fastens the rope to the sword hilt, then he resurfaces.
the rope will give you a +2 on the strength check for leverage.
The rogue eventually yanks the sword out and pulls it to his eager hands.
Gerard Nisroc
Why do I feel like Daffy Duck diving through the treasure in that "Open Sesame" Bugs Bunny episode? "Mine, mine... all mine."
Admiring the blade, his mind turns to the here and now... Hey, where's Daniel? And... what's that?!
The rogue points to the bubbling with his new grey sword.
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
Not sure timing, but keeping the action flowing.
Andrea1
Andrea starts looking concerned as Gerard keeps going with the sword and there is no sign of Daniel.
Gerard! Daniel went into the water to help. She points at the air bubbling. I am lousy at swimming, go see if he is okay. Andrea also looks at Orsin for help.
Gerard Nisroc
What? Help who? Gerard places the shortsword on the rocks, wedged so it doesn't slide into the water...
Taking a deep breath, he dives into uncharted territory...
Swim, sinking might get me there faster!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Daniel Arrisen
Wonder if that was enough damage to make crab cakes!! Total is over 150 for two rounds. I love smite!
Daniel Arrisen
Take 20 climb: 20 = 20
Despite the steepness of the slope, the fact that falling underwater held no danger and he could breathe, the water took most of the weight of his armor.
Slowly, deliberately he climbs out.
Finally, he breaks the surface and coughs to clear his lungs.
The last one is dead...
Andrea1
Andrea wishes she had someway of drying everyone off but such magiks were more Faylen's realm than hers.
Andrea helps Daniel out with the aid of others.
Good work. Andrea nods to the grate. That looks like it is protecting something down here, so shall we check it out?
Euphemia di Nereis
"Many things do in an instant, but I'm still vexed with you for endangering two very important people at the moment."
Meaning himself and Frank, of course. Granted, she had been worried about Daniel, but that was by his own volition, too. That's a separate deal.
