Ac 21 at the moment due to power attack.....

"That's the last thing you'll ever do in this life of your own free will, ogre."

"Hae some bolts, ye mawkit heidthebaws!" Dravite steps a little closer to the onrushing ogres and lets his arrows fly.

5' step to J31 before firing on O1. He's using Deadly Aim and Multishot (Dravite doesn't have Rapid Shot, and O1 is too far away for Point Blank Shot).
Attack 1 (w/Multishot): 11+9+4(favoured enemy)+1(Big Game Hunter feat)+2(Giant Bane bow)-2(Deadly Aim)=AC 25, damage 2d8+6+8(Favoured enemy)+4(Big Game Hunter)+8(Deadly Aim)+4d6(Giant Bane bow)=11+6+8+4+8+15=52.
Atttack 2: 13+4+4+1+2-2=AC 22, damage 1d8+3+4+2+4+2d6=5+3+4+2+4+8=26.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

"Leave some for me, willya? Goregreedy bastich!!!"

Initiative
Sefayll 22
Camlo 20
Hudak 13
Alwyn 12
Dravite 7
Ogre 1 5

I'm not sure you apply the Bane effect twice with Multishot (in the same way as with sneak attack) though it isn't conclusive in this instance.

The first ogre takes the first arrow in the eye. It flops sideways and its corpse slides down the slope and over the cliff-edge to oblivion. The second arrow flies into the other ogre's gut, making it howl.

Ogre 2 down. Ogre 1 attack when I have access to the map.

The other ogre heads down the slope, swinging its hook at Alwyn and Hudak.

Same drill, Cleave with Power Attack, starting on Hudak.
Hudak 1d20 + 16 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 16 - 4 = 26 to hit, damage 3d6 + 14 + 9 ⇒ (1, 1, 6) + 14 + 9 = 31
If that hits, attack on Alwyn 1d20 + 16 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 16 - 4 = 23 to hit, damage 3d6 + 14 + 9 ⇒ (2, 4, 6) + 14 + 9 = 35

Map updated.

Sefayll.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

That one hit.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

The idea was to shoot and hopefully kill the ogre that hadn't acted yet. Hudak would then deal with the other one on his turn, which (significally) comes before the ogre. Oh well. This works too.

I would argue that bane damage is doubled when using Multishot - it is, after all, two arrows.

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

Sefayll takes one step to her left, raises the crossbow, and fires again.

Shooting into melee: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 1 = 22

Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7

Sefayll's bolt fings its target.

I think shooting into melee is -4 to hit, but fortunately it's enough.

Camlo.

Map updated.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Camlo heads up the slope behind the ogre, avoiding it's hook.

Move to K24, draw rapier.

If it's still standing next turn I should be able to flank it, and get sneak attack with the rapier, if not, well, I'm up the hill a bit :)

HUUUDAAAAK!

Map updated.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

move to J27. Full on Hudakattack tm.

Egads! Yes, yes it is. I looked at the result and knew I was going to be a +1 to hit and apparently that's what I typed instead of the correct equation. Apologies.

The ogre feels the power of Hudak, and is found wanting. It follows its fellow down the mountain.

End of combat. 1,420xp each.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

"Phew. Now, I'm guessing there's gunna be more int he cave, do we keep drwing them out like this, or go in?"

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

"I didn't hear any alarms. Let's go in."

But only after we LEVEL UP!!!!!! Question - do we regain our hit points on gaining a level?

You only get the new ones. The ones lost in combat will have to be healed in some way.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Got it. I scratched 6 charges off my old CMW wand - that'll bring me and Hudak back up to full speed. Damn - those were some big hits.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

"Thanks, brother!"

will level this weekend some time.

Ready to move on?

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

Sounds good.

"We wanna head up there now?"

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

I will level tonight.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

"Might as well. Camlo and Hudak take the lead - Camlo to look for traps, and Hudak to keep the ogres off him. Lead the way, runts." Alwyn mutters a quick benediction and follows.

I'm casting Bull's Strength on myself. Other buffs to follow when we run into more ogres.

The group move cautiously ahead. It is about a five minute walk to the cave mouth along the windswept ridge. With typical ogrish insight, there appear to be no other look-outs and the group encounter no other precautions.

Doing anything before going in?

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

I cast Ptrotection from evil on Dravite and Hudak, and Shield of faith on myself. They get +2 AC and saves, I get +3 AC.

"Let's do this."

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

"I feel stronger...."

I'm leveled.

We'll go on up there.

At the mouth of the cave, jagged spurs of bone protrude from the stone on either side of the cave entrance, each towering twenty feet in height — apparently the ribs of some monstrous behemoth.

DC 25 Knowledge (Arcana) or Knowledge (Nature):

Spoiler:
These are the bones of a blue dragon.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Know (arcana) 4+5=9.

"They grow 'em big up here, don't they? Good thing it's long dead."

He looks speculatively at Sefayll. "Hellknight, these mind magicks of yours - can you use them to sniff out others' thoughts the way a wolf can smell the buried dead? In twisting caves and tunnels like we're about to enter, that would be incredibly useful."

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 20 Nuts.

"Given time to concentrate, yes. Too much stone, and I'll be as blind as anyone, though. Keep watch while I reach out, please."

At the entrance, she focuses her helm's ability to detect thoughts into the cave.

Sefayll:

Spoiler:
You pick up the mental emanations of three ogres nearby.

Sefayll?

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

Sorry, it's been busy here, too.

The former hellknight signals to the others with three upraised fingers. Whispering, "Ogres." Do they appear to be aware of us? Are their thoughts of ambush, for example? Or just things I'd rather you didn't specify?

The Exchange

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

Just dumb ogre thoughts.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Alwyn resists the urge to pet Sefayll on the head. "Excellent. Let's get the drop on them. Dravite?"

Dravite nods at the big Shoanti before wordlessly padding forward, two arrows resting on his bowstring.

Stealth 13+13=26, Perception 11+13+4(Favoured Enemy)=28. He'll come right back once he spots the big lugs.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Camlo will follow Dravite in, crossbow re-loaded and ready, in one hand, punching dagger in the other.

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

The wizard waits, concentrating on the thoughts she'd detected, looking for signs of alarm.

Dravite and Camlo sneak into the ogres' lair. Heading down the passage under the dead dragon's ribcage feels uncomfortably like being swallowed like some large beast.

I assume Camlo is going to make a Stealth check, rather than singing the national anthem.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Rather seems redundant with Dravite positively clattering next to me, but go on then.

Stealth: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (20) + 25 = 45
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19 (19vs traps)

I am a leaf on the wind.....

45? That's just silly. Even Dravite can't see you.

"Wee laddie?" whispers Dravite, "Are ye there?"

As they head past the dragon skeleton, in a large alcove Dravite and Calmo spy an enormous statue, in frozen vigil, of a forty-foot-tall giant with black skin covered by fissures and cracks, like the bed of a dried river. He wears majestic armor gilt and encrusted with gems, and grips a towering glaive in his armored fists. The giant’s face is hidden by a ferocious full helm forged into the sneering grimace of a fanged devil. Around the giant’s neck hangs a medallion—a seven-pointed star.

Perception or Heal, DC 20:

Spoiler:
This isn't a statue, but a preserved corpse of a truly huge giant.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

"Jose, can you see, by the monsterly light?"

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Camlo is indeed a stealth monster....There's a talent I may take next that lets me use stealth to hide in plain sight....
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17

Yeeah, I'm not seeing what's on that monster statue....

Someone can roll for Dravite. He'll get his favoured enemy bonus too.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

perception
1d20 + 11 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 11 + 4 = 34

all I could find was his old p.c.; is he still 7th level?

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

"That's not a statue, Camlooey......it's the corpse of an actual giant!!!"

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

"You're sure it's a corpse?"

"Aye, looks pretty deed to me." Dravite moves up and prods it with the end of his ogre hook, eliciting no response. "Never heard of giants this big," he whispers, "A real creature of legend.

"Anyhoo, we're not here to gawk. Let's find those ogres the hellknight lassie detected."

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

"You first." Camlo grins then follows, weapons ready.

Cam Stealth: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (4) + 25 = 29
Cam Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
Drav Stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Drav Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 +4 vs ogres

What abyssal rolls!
