Anyone have 70 gp to pitch in for a wand of CLW?

Liberty's Edge

I should have some leftover - I had spent 6000 + on spell scribing, which Aubrey has let us have gratis, using Mokmurian's supplies. That gives me enough to upgrade my ring of protection to +2, but I'll have 70 left over.

Enchantress 8/Oracle (flame) 1/Hellknight Signifier 2; AC 24, FF 21, T 15, CMD 19; F 8, R 9, W 14; hp 72/72; Init +4; Perc +6; Irresistible Demand 7/8; Effects: Flying disk, Overland Flight

One emergency CLW wand will be added to inventory, then.

I ended up lightening my load and improving my AC by 4 points in addition to the rod of enlarge spell. That seems reasonable, all told.

Do you guys think its worth trying to recruit someone to play a warrior type to join the group? Maybe if someone from one of our other games is interested? Or are we happy with 5?

5 should be sufficient, considering 4 should be sufficient per the module design (not that I'm going to use it for a while, but hey!). But I guess it depends what the views of others are.

Believe it or not, I think Sefayll is finally completely ready to go, right down to having spells selected for travel (as opposed to selected for an underground delve, tempting as it was).

Aubrey, Nevynxx, I hope that you guys and family and friends are all ok after the Manchester explosion - neither of you are located in Manchester are you?

I and mine are all fine, thanks for the thought.

I'm about 20 miles North of Manchester, so it's the nearest big city, and the place I'd go to gigs and stuff like that. I was in that arena a few months ago to see my oldest singing with his school choir (and about 4 thousand other kids ;) )

Like the IRA bomb in Manchester when I was a teenager, it was close enough to home to hit hard, but far enough to be safe enough myself.

Like with the IRA, we need to carry on, clean up, and stop fighting fire with fire; and instead fire up the water hoses.

The Exchange

1 person marked this as a favorite.
No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

What he said.

I live nowhere near Manchester but this is an ever-present problem. It's horrible, but on the other hand I'm still more likely to be killed by a bus than a terrorist. We had the IRA campaign in London when I first started work and it's something you learn to live with. And with some things, when your number's up there's nothing you can do about it. You can't spend your life worrying about something you can't really control.

But I really feel for those parents who may have lost children. That's just evil to target a teenybopper event. I guess the idiots who thought this was a good idea wanted a Bataclan 2, plus they wanted something to affect the election here. It seems, at least, to be less horrendous than that and probably won't make any difference to anyone's voting patterns. Just stupid, mindless, vicious and sick. A pointless waste of life.

Liberty's Edge

Completely horrible.

Glad you and yours were not directly affected, gentlemen. I have missed all the news reports about it somehow. Not sure I haven't learned everything I need right here...

Very heavy security presence in and around the mainline stations and on the streets in London. They are also being very diligent about checking ID as we come into the buildings I work in. Joys of a Critical terrorist alert.

Hi everyone, just to let you know I will be on holiday for two weeks (and a bit) from Friday 30th June until the 16th July. During that time I will have no access to the internet (to speak of).

Have fun Nevynxxx!

Things are still somewhat crazy busy for me - haven't had a chance to check games for the past 24 hours, hopefully tomorrow will be a bit better. If I'm holding things up in any game just NPC my guys.

Must be the season. I get on my computer about every three days lately, posting on the phone when I post at all. This weekend, we're doing some (more) landscaping and I expect to be taking advantage of the daylight as much as possible. The good news is we don't expect 106 F temps like we had last weekend - when we did all the preliminary digging.

Long story to say my access will continue to be intermittent.

The Exchange

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

Guys, you have probably noticed my rate of posting has dwindled a lot lately. It's partly pressure of Real Life, but also mainly (and not unconnectedly) that the wells of inspiration are running dry a bit. For at least two of the games I need to have a serious think about what happens next and I haven't really had the chance to do that, and right now it's a bit like staring at a blank sheet of paper and not knowing what to write.

I am on holiday from this Friday for a week and would be out of connection anyway. However, I intend to take a break from the games I am GMing until early September. I will use this time to try and plan ahead a bit so I can return to the games a bit more refreshed and with a Plan (or Plans). Apologies, as we are in the middle of things in pretty much all the games, but hopefully this will allow me to focus a bit more.

For the games I am not running, I will post as normal (although there is still that holiday).

OK, I've done some thinking. Right now it looks like we have lost both of the Shoanti brothers. We could stand to lose one, but not both. What do people think about recruiting replacements?

Second, although it only really filtered through today, the departure of both the Shoanti throws a spanner in the works of my original plan, which was to have the party head up north to the Shoanti homeland and so Alwyn could see his family (among other things). Now that doesn't seem to be so great without an actual PC who really cares that much about the Shoanti. Instead, I'm thinking undersea adventure (given than most of Thassilon is under the sea). Views?

Wintergreen's CE PA IT Geek 10/Daddy 9/Physicist 3/Cartographer 1/Runner 3/Cub Scout Leader 2/Musician 1

Recruitment sounds sensible.

Is there any reason not to follow th AP at this point? Given it's ten years since I read te AP I can't remember what we are supposed to do next......

The Exchange

To be honest, I don't really fancy running book 5 as it's a dungeon crawl and they don't translate so well to PbP. So even though it was Vatters who was virulently against it, I pretty much concurred.

Wintergreen's CE PA IT Geek 10/Daddy 9/Physicist 3/Cartographer 1/Runner 3/Cub Scout Leader 2/Musician 1

Aquatic Adventures

Relevant rules will probably be on d20pfsrd if you find any you like, but I don't think they are up yet.

So at the moment we have:
Bard
Rogue
~Enchanter

We are set for intrigue and social challenges. Full on combat, not so much. I imagine we'll see Vatts again once things things normalize and he is able to sleep again, but yeah it might be a while.

Hi all, I hear you all are looking for some melee or divine type characters. I'm currently in Aubrey's other Eberron campaign playing Tal. I've always enjoyed playing monks but for this instance I think a hard hitting shape shifting druid might work better and still be enjoyable to play. If that sounds good I'll work out the numbers and post something up.

And I'm another of Aubrey's test subjects willing to chase the cheese and receive a shock!

Before Aubrey told us you all were 11th level a couple hours ago I was preparing myself to read through your whole campaign and cook up an appropiate -perfect if possible- character to join you... But 15k posts are a tad too much to read on a sitting, let alone really understand your motivations and drivings without frying my brain by overload in the process...

So welcome to Plan B: I intend to use Aubrey's idea to skip Book 5 and create a character that would accompany the party for whatever hellish torture he devises next, one that hopefully will get along well enough to stay with the group when you return to the AP even if he has no personal investment in it.

I see Natloz is thinking a hard hitting druid, with partially covers both melee and divine... That's great because I can do the same and go with a 'tanky' heavy hitter cleric or paladin and also fill the melee and divine. Between the both of us we'll add up to one Melee and one Divine character, but in truth we'll be much more... We'll be Melee Divine Bros.

Sooo only thing left before we start brainstorming -I appreciate any and all input- is knowing what kind of resources we have access to, special mention to warforged if possible, and the rules we should use to create the cannonfodder.

The Exchange

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

First off, I'd like you to come up with character concepts. I'm less interested in mechanics and more interested in why the character has shown up in Sandpoint at this particular juncture. That said, the place has been molested by giants so that could be a reason. Or you could have another reason. That helps me integrate the new PCs into the game.

No warforged - this is Golarion, not Eberron. We are not using anything much more than CRB and the various Paizo supplements. I prefer not to use 3rd party material.

I'm not sure if you want to keep the background ideas secret for RP purposes but here is an idea I thought up. There's a some ideas in there if EmmisaryOfTheNorth wants to have a background that ties in to mine as well.

backgroud idea:
I remember a while back there was talk of Shalelu Andosana, the elf ranger that lurks around Sandpoint (from book 1). I went way back in the game play thread to find her name. I don't think it would be that far fetched to think she was able to contact a druid enclave to get more reinforcements after the giants attacked the city. My character got assigned to find Shalelu and render any assistance he could. If it is determined that helping the heroes of sandpoint end the threat then that should fall within the parameters of his assignment. He could be there before the rest of the group gets there or show up dramatically using tree stride.

If emmisary wants to tie in to my idea we can be childhood friends/rivals that decided to go different routes to similar goals (druid vs cleric). I was thinking being shoanti of the Spire clan. If I understand the social aspect of the clans they are the most stationary thus able to produce a cleric/pali if necessary. I'm not married to the idea of Shoanti if you had something else in mind though.
