Well, i imagine at least some electronics would survive. The CB radio was on the scavenging table. Someone with decent tech knowledge could use (rare) undamaged parts, such as wires that were not part of any electrical system (such as could be found in stores pre-blast).

Also, surge protectors exist that can protect against the highest-powered HEMP waves. Theyre just very rare because theyre expensive and also people tend not to take EMP threat seriously.

Also at certain depths underground things are insulated from a HEMP blast. Actual depth required depends on the conductivity of minerals present in the earth surrounding such locations, but typically a bit deeper than your average basement. A subway tunnel wouldn't protect from the blast because of all the wide openings and very conductive metals present. A mine shaft would probably work, but with the main elevators destroyed, salvaging from there would be difficult.

But with things like loudspeakers and winches on the customization lists and CB radios on the salvage tables, some electronics have survived. The CB radio, now that i think of it, would probably only be useful for contacting our settlement.

Nomad scavenger HP 16/16

Testing out the dice roller.

I get d6+4 rolls from scavenging tables (each from different table)

So, here goes!

1d6 ⇒ 2

Nomad scavenger HP 16/16

1st roll, antiques: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9

2nd roll, automotive: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5

3rd roll, farming: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7

4th roll, medical: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11

5th roll, military: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9

6th roll, tools/industrial supplies: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4

Nomad scavenger HP 16/16

So I got: Antique Motorless Lawn Mower, 1-6 Jumper Cables = 1d6 ⇒ 2 , 1-6 Pitch Forks = 1d6 ⇒ 1 , 1-6 Plastic Splints = 1d6 ⇒ 6 , 1-6 Bayonets = 1d6 ⇒ 6 , 1-6 Hammers = 1d6 ⇒ 3

Basically, a shitload of junk :D

Nomad scavenger HP 16/16

Oh, one more scavenging roll for being a nomad (tools/industrial supplies): 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6

1-6 Adjustable Wrenches = 1d6 ⇒ 2

Nomad scavenger HP 16/16

Updated my character stuff under my profile.

HP: 14/14 Truck HP: 150/150 (Protection 14)

Bayonets aren't too bad, Jumper cables can be quite useful, plastic splints could be useful in several scenarios...

We probably have plenty of hammers and wrenches. Pitchfork maybe not so useful. Reel Lawnmower might be good for scrap use, but it could be a good bartering tool.

Nomad scavenger HP 16/16

How do you guys get those hit points to show above your avatar?

Edit - nevermind, found it.

Would there be a spot for a 'steader Sentinel?

I'm thinking someone who was a former small town deputy forced into the position of being the one lawman for a small community. However, recently, the community was wiped out, and everything he knew is now gone, so he's looking for a new place to call home, in the meantime serving to help whoever he can along the way.....

I think there definitely should be. The GM put forward the following premise:

Brian Perlis wrote:
The town sheriff kind of knows you guys are doing this, which is against the town rules, but doesnt say anything about it. A couple of the town cops who have attitudes with your team suspect the same but cant prove it - since they never leave the gates anyway.

So maybe they have you spying on us, or perhaps traveling with an "official" is the only way that we'd be permitted to do this kind of work?

or maybe he is keeping them off the scent, to keep his team outfitted well enough to stay a few steps ahead of death.

Sounds good to me. You have a CB!

Arknight - Definitely room for a sentinel. Choose whatever back story you want, to include being a cop from this city. I only ask that you are one of the good guys and allied with the team. No need for subversive drama within our own.

HP 16/16 (Protection 2) Mustang HP 75/75 (Protection 11)

I am loving the versatility of characters present here. We have a multi talented bunch, I'm feeling pretty confident that we'll have our bases covered in a whole bunch of scenarios. I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys and your characters!

HP: 14/14 Truck HP: 150/150 (Protection 14)

Yeah im excited, cant wait to hit the road

F Librarian [ Notice: d8 | Shooting: d6 | Parry: 2 | Pace: 6 | Toughness: 5 ]

Who are we waiting on? I don't mean to rush anyone, I'm actually asking. I think it'll probably be helpful for Brian to know when we all are finished and ready to go. I think Arknight and Darkwolf still need to make aliases, but I'm not sure if the others are done? I'm definitely all set and ready.

I think our party now looks like this:

Moracai - Lucas "Stinker" Sanchez - Nomad Scavenger
Tenro - "Chop Shop" Dean - Bartertown Hauler
Bantamweight - James John "Slim" Corbett - Nomad Road Warrior
YoricksRequiem - Estelle Beaumont - Bartertown Healer
Darkwolf445 - Remnant Greaser
Arknight - Steader Sentinel

HP 16/16 (Protection 2) Mustang HP 75/75 (Protection 11)

That list looks pretty comprehensive to me, I don't think you've missed anyone. I'm all set and ready to hit the road as soon as everyone else is!

Well heck;I guess everyone is waiting on me. I already wrote up the scenario outline this afternoon so we're ready.

Load your vehicles and prep your gear. You roll out tomorrow.

yaaaaassssssssssss!!!

HP 16/16 (Protection 2) Mustang HP 75/75 (Protection 11)

I cannot express how big my grin was after reading that Brian, I am pumped!

Nomad scavenger HP 16/16

Yaaaaaay!

I'll hitch a ride with Slim Jim, as we're both nomads Chop Shop as he's got an MG to man, and I'll dump my extra gear into the rig. Oh, and I'll give 5 plastic splints to Estelle. Anyone want a bayonet?

If Darkwolf or Arknight want's to shoot the rig's MG, I'll happily switch over to Jim's car.

HP 16/16 (Protection 2) Mustang HP 75/75 (Protection 11)

I've got an empty gun too Stinker, but if we end up riding together I might need to scavenge a few air fresheners. On the plus side, seeing as how we're both nomads we could totally refer to ourselves as "bromads" if you ride with me :P

Nomad scavenger HP 16/16

Sure thing, bromad :D

Just keep the windows open so the stench won't be so bad... ;)

This is what I have for vehicles:

Moracai - Lucas "Stinker" Sanchez - Nomad Scavenger - Passenger for Slim in Mustang

Tenro - "Chop Shop" Dean - Bartertown Hauler - Unk Hauler big rig with Driver+4 means driver, passenger, and a 3-passenger seat behind the front seats.

Bantamweight - James John "Slim" Corbett - Nomad Road Warrior mustang coupe Mustang, Passenger, rear gunner]

YoricksRequiem - Estelle Beaumont - Bartertown Healer -motorcycle

Darkwolf445 - Remnant Greaser

Arknight - Steader Sentinel

Can I get a march order, who is in what vehicle (if different then what I have )and all the positions in your vehicles and Chop Shop - What kind of hauler do you have? 18 wheeler with a trailer?

HP: 14/14 Truck HP: 150/150 (Protection 14)

Hauler Image this is the image i was kinda going for, but yes an 18-wheeler and armored up truck and trailer.

Also, does my gun turret add an additional seat, or subtract from the seats available on the front? i pictured the turret being on the back or near it, and on top of the trailer.

Any PC is welcome in the gun turret. otherwise an NPC of dubious ability will have to fill that slot.

March order of vehicles, I would say that the coupe would be off the drivers side of the hauler in combat at least. if his gun is facing rear then on a single-lane road he could be behind me, but off to the side would be best. with his speed, even if off-roading were to reduce it, it would still be way more than mine. On a bridge or something where single file is enforced, that is a good question... he has more forward-facing guns, but i have the ram.

It can be an additional seat. I recommend not having all three of your backseats filled up. If you need to haul someone or rescue a teammate you'll need some extra space.

Ah, good call, hadn't thought about that. I at least want one PC/NPC with a gun on my passenger side.

HP: 14/14 Truck HP: 150/150 (Protection 14)

gameplay is live, folks!

This is Arknight's character profile :)

Should have it fleshed out later this evening.

gimme a few, I'll get a character made up

No worries. I'll hold the game until you guys join in.

There is trouble brewing so it will be good to have you.

Remnant Greaser Health 16/16

Alright, Darkwolf, here. Don't know how to put health above avatar.

F Librarian [ Notice: d8 | Shooting: d6 | Parry: 2 | Pace: 6 | Toughness: 5 ]

I haven't had a chance to get a post up tonight and probably won't until the morning since there's a ton to catch up on already, haha, but I'm super excited to start!

Certain lines on the profile page will show up there. I know Race and Class lines show up, and not sure about gender or size lines.

HP 16/16 (Protection 2) Mustang HP 75/75 (Protection 11)

I just wanted to make a note here that before heading out Slim grabbed the bolt action rifle with 12 rounds, a light crossbow with 20 bolts, a torch with batteries or some wooden ones with flint and steel (whichever was available) and food/drink for a couple of days. I'll assume he has a travelling kit with other minor necessities in his car, and I'm happy to note them down if required

HP: 14/14 Truck HP: 150/150 (Protection 14)

Yeah i figure Chop Shop snagged a loaded pistol and a spare magazine. Just for when shootin' out the window is needed, otherwise he will use his big ol' machine gun.

Also grabbed food and water and minor necessities, nothing too much so as not to leave PV stripped bare.

On that note, is FC coastal? Or do they just have a big lake for fishing?

Scavenge Foodstuffs: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6=>2-12 Cans of Soda: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
I'm thinking 3 cans of Mountain Dew Fruit Punch Kickstart. :)

remember, medical care can only do so much these days...

Still here. Just waiting on a couple more to post. If we dont hear from them by tomorrow morning we'll just continue and they can jump in whenever they're ready.

F Librarian [ Notice: d8 | Shooting: d6 | Parry: 2 | Pace: 6 | Toughness: 5 ]

I was waiting to hear about Slim's jacket before I posted again.

Estelle Beaumont wrote:

That's funny! LOL

Everyone needs a bad ass leather jacket in the apocalypse. Slim's jacket is a perfect fit. Just dont ask him where he got it.

HP 16/16 (Protection 2) Mustang HP 75/75 (Protection 11)

So I didn't find a spare? That's cool, while Estelle is borrowing my jacket I'll grab something thick and woollen to keep me warm at night.

I'll have you know that I acquired that jacket legitimately... Sort of... Well the guy was already dead when I found him, and dead guys do not need sweet leather jackets :)

No JJC - that was a spare. Your size is a little too big for her.

You have a bad ass leather jacket too. Everyone needs to look cool!

HP: 14/14 Truck HP: 150/150 (Protection 14)

I figure Chop Shop has a big, dirt-brown duster.

And the wide-brimmed hat, like his avatar.

but no feather, unlike the avatar. hahaha

So I just submitted a character for the GM to look over; a Trog Skulk

Hopefully I should be joining in shortly.

HP 16/16 (Protection 2) Mustang HP 75/75 (Protection 11)

Glad to have you aboard!

Hi everyone. Since we're a new group that just started playing together I'm still trying to learn the story pacing and figure out when everyone posts. It seems as if most of you post at night and I'm a day poster. No worries - I'll do my best to post at night.

I'm thinking I'll wait about 24-36 hours to try and get the majority to post before I continue the game. Let me know if that works for you or if you already know you'll need more time due to busy schedules.

So being new to this particular forum how does one select avatars for your character and create a character alias?

F Librarian [ Notice: d8 | Shooting: d6 | Parry: 2 | Pace: 6 | Toughness: 5 ]

I'm more of a day poster typically. Although it's worth noting that most of us are in different timezones.

xhaosdaemon wrote:

Up in "My Account" at the top. Once you go into there, on the left there's "Create Alias", on that screen you enter the name and choose an avatar. Once it is created you can edit the profile.

It's worth noting that the "Create Profile" page times out A LOT, so your best bet is to type everything up in a word doc beforehand and copy/paste it in.

Trog Skulk | HP: 14/14 | Protection: 2

OK testing here...

...Also how do I show-up in the Player and Character list?

F Librarian [ Notice: d8 | Shooting: d6 | Parry: 2 | Pace: 6 | Toughness: 5 ]

When you post in Gameplay you will automatically be added, and the game will be added to you Campaigns list.

And you can get things to display under your name / above your avatar by adding them to the "Classes/Levels" field.
