I just remembered, I think there was a couple magic items no one picked up a while back. I picked up a couple small items but had no way to carry the larger things. Some armor and something else I believe is what I left behind

The Dapper GM |

Huh. I've only used a more direct approach—two dozen posters, each containing a portrait of an attractive, nude orcish maiden (this one took a lot of Craft (painting) and Knowledge (local) to pull off), with the word "GOTCHA" painted underneath in huge, instantly-readable explosive runes, airdropped over the Orcish encampment in the dead of night by a hawk familiar.
...I'm a big fan of wizards played with proper intelligence.

Charmed:
-One Succubus Captain of the Guard
-One Bebilith (will wear off in ~10 hours)
-Two Gugs (will wear off in ~10 hours)
Actually, I can only use Charm monster (and they are monsters anyway, so I could not use anything else to charm them) so the duration should be 1day/CL or 12 days.
p.s. I'm back :)

Explosive runes is one of my favorites. I like to make very official looking letters and hand them to guards to read.

in an old 3.5 game i had another character walk around with essentially a sandwich board on, and each side was a flip chart of the various symbols. quick disguise spell has him looking like a scantily-clad maiden, walk through enemy lines as the symbols go off and he flips the pages.
i forget which symbols we used precisely, but it was amusing.

Protip- Illia is not very knowledgeable. She also has a tendency to miss certain things. She called TSG Myse for the longest time because he was cut off mid-sentence and she thought that was his name.

Out of character I know. In character I imagine i'll figure it out soon enough.
I just got confused for a minute IRL.

Wasn't planning on the party splitting here, but if that's the plan, I think I can update the sequence of... certain events to give Anaxian and Dely something to do (and Mal for them to control, I suppose, although he currently gets a -4 to attack rolls due to his right arm being unexpectedly resurrected)

Meredian Adriatnaic |

I can't imagine his right arm would be resurrected for long, seeing what that arm is currently touching.
The arm would re-necrify as is stated in the Graveknight description. The whole body takes 1d10 days. I imagine an arm less so. Remember that Mal is armor more than undead. If he were to step all the way through and Resurrect he'd be "alive" for a short period (1d10 days I think) then become himself again.
Excerpts:
A graveknight’s body exists as a desiccated husk of bone and flesh within its armor, but these constantly rejuvenated remains are of no particular significance or function. Rather, it’s the armor of a graveknight that is its true flesh, the lifeline and cage that shackles it to the material world. Similarly, the glowing eyes that can be seen through the creature’s helmet are not its actual eyes, but rather twin points of light manifested by the raging spirit itself.
Anyone who treats a graveknight’s armor as simply battle spoils risks both body and soul. Graveknights rejuvenate when destroyed. Their bodies literally grow back, with tendrils of undead flesh coiling out from recesses in their armor like gruesome creepers, unless opponents take pains to also obliterate the armor. These unholy strands have no objection to infesting a living host instead of producing a new body for their master.
Fun, right? :-)

No way in hell I'm teleporting past that feild. We already know this place is mostly warded against teleportation, and if it turns out I can't get out again, that's hastle I don't need.
If Mal went through it, suddenly he's a dude in armor again. If I go through it, suddenly I'm a tiny dragon with a bag of holding where all his organs should be.
I'm perfectly fine guarding the door.

That made me literally laugh out loud.

The Dapper GM |

Okay, so... the Shadowdancer was supposed to arrive on the bridge while the party went into the tomb, and be the last thing the party encountered (on their way back out).
Since it seemed like everyone was proceeding through the resurrection barrier without Anaxian, I figured I'd let him notice her, giving Anaxian (and anyone else staying behind) something to do while the rest of party made their way to the skull, which at this point they have gotten pretty close to.
That said, if everyone wants to double back, that's fine, but you're still at least one round of movement away from even seeing what Anaxian's up to.

Anaxian |

That's what I thought. Hence all the scrolls.
I'd imagine that when anaxian actually makes sound for verbal components it sounds kind of like what you'd get if you tried to emulate a cat's purr by rattling bones together inside something hollow.

Regardless of what it is, I think we can all agree that it's going to be super creepy.

Anaxian |

Pseudo dragons can't actually talk out loud, but they can make noises. Anaxian doesn't have lungs anymore though, so his ability to audibly verbalize is extra limited.
I guess if normal liches can speak even though they are skeletal, Anaxian can make noise too. He might even be able to speak out loud now. I just don't think he's tried.

The Dapper GM |

Oh, no, she just sees the Dimensional Anchor as a formality, and it doesn't seem to provoke hostility. She's waiting for you to talk, and has not indicated that she's about to attack (although she's alert enough that you probably can't get a surprise round against her now).

Hey there Delilah what's it like in New York City
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl tonight you look so pretty, yes you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you, I swear it's true
Hey there Delilah don't you worry about the distance
I'm right here if you get lonely give this song another listen
Close your eyes, listen to my voice it's my disguise
I'm by your side
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me
Hey there Delilah, I know times are getting hard
But just believe me girl, someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good, we'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good
Hey there Delilah, I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away, I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall, we'd have it all
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me
What you do to me
A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
And we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah I can promise you
By the time that we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame
Hey there Delilah
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You'll know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Delilah here's to you
This one's for you
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me

I'm at a pretty serious stand still. I would like to continue but if I move forward without the correct unholy symbol I will be forced to fight constructs that are most likely immune to the bulk of my powers. Does anyone have a way to make an unholy symbol? I thought I remembered Anaxian having some pigments or something, which would be a great reason for me to turn around and head back to him anyway.

Meredian does, but she just walked into the other room.

Thats good though. It solves my problem and gives me a good reason to backtrack. However, I don't think he would ask a drow for help. Drisquar is being controlled or whatever so it doesn't bother him, but a drow of her own free will... he is basically waiting for something that will allow him to eat your brain without pissing off the majority of power.

You've already determined that she's not really there. If you sucked her brain out (thereby killing her) both she and her brain would get snapped back to her body and you'd go hungry. You could try to mind control her though. Good luck with that. :-)

Well it's been days, I would like to continue. Not to mention, I can do the exact same thing. I think my DC is 1 lower because I'm not wearing a headband, but still, pretty close.
EDIT* F' it, charming her is good enough reason to go back

I support that. I tried dismissing her as a useless messenger, but time seems to have stopped so to speak.

The Dapper GM |

Yeah. It's an... irregularly-paced game. Sorry about that, but my life has been thrown into increasing chaos every month since I started the recruitment for this, and while I find it fun and stress relieving, I never know when I'll be free to post things, so I don't expect punctuality from all the players either (on the assumption that it's okay to bot when I have to).

Delyliath |

Yeah I'm sorry too but from the start of September I'm already at my second flu and I'm on bed most of my day lately.
Sorry :/

Zhǔ Dà túshā |

It's no big deal, I just wanted to move along. I can accomplish the same thing, and have even set into motion to do so already. The reason I cast unearthly terror was because it gives her the shaken condition, which causes her to take a -2 to my charms and suggestions.
Also, as to patience, to request a certain amount is reasonable, but there is a line. However, I wasn't upset or frustrated, I just wanted to move the game along, and it worked.

The Dapper GM |

Yeah... Dris isn't being controlled, just encouraged.
And Da tusha: The vast majority of combats/enemies in this game have been avoided with some combination of stealth, charm, and teleportation. At the end of a mission, I give exp based on all enemies/traps defeated or avoided, with a multiplier based on how much I expected those to be an issue (for instance, in the last mission, the players hoodwinked a large number of paladins who were not immediately hostile, and who gave 50% of their normal exp).
That said, this mission is going to give a huge amount of experience. I'm pretty sure that by the time we leave the dungeons (which will be relatively soon), the party will have gained at least one level, and finding a way out of the city and completing the mission should bump it up to two.
Anaxian has expressed repeated interest in burning the city to the ground, while a few other party members want to conquer it. This is a reasonably small city, and such a thing may actually be possible. If players want to try that, I can award experience and let you level up before leaving the dungeon, to make the fight a bit more balanced (if people want).
I will award experience (and possibly loot) for defeating the entire city on one of the following conditions:
(this would be quite a lot of experience, and might change the course of the plot a bit, but since I'm writing things as I go I wouldn't mind)
1. Burning the city to the ground. I will not act out all of the combat involved, just the important parts, and may not roll everything involved in the game thread. In this case, the players could either just pillage the smoking ruins or try to drive out the remaining population and rebuild a massive skull-fort on the smoking ruins.
2. Taking the city by force. I will not act out all of the combat involved, just the important parts, and would split up between the players who gets to control gugs, skeletons, etc. so that everyone has something to do.
3. Taking the city through subtlety. This could be an assassination, a smaller coup, etc., that would involve taking out Lady Mencara and replacing her with a different ruler.
If conquering/rebuilding the city, there's also two options for how the party can move forward:
A. Take the city as your own. I'm in a Kingmaker PbP, and could apply a stripped-down version of those rules to running and expanding the party's city, which I can only assume would be a bastion of decadence, oppression, and undead-creation.
B. Leave a figurehead/puppet in charge. TSG, as a very capable Drow spellcaster, would be a good candidate for this, although you could also leave Mal behind. In this case, using Kingmaker subject nation rules, the city would be considered a vassal state if you ever create one of your own, and until then would pay a substantial amount of monthly tribute.

Anaxian |

If the host is dimensionally anchored can the demon still will itself out of the host to leave, or is astral/ethereal movement covered? (the text on Magic Circle suggests the demon should not be able to leave)
Basically, could the demon still escape?

The Dapper GM |

That... is a really interesting question, actually. It probably depends on the form of the possession—which in this case is a specific ability which specifically mentions etherealness.
As far as I can tell, though, the real question is whether Dimensional Anchor affects both the host and possessor, or just the host. And I will rule in this case that the demon can now not leave the body unless the host is slain (although Anchor is only 1 minute/level), in which case it can.

Zhǔ Dà túshā |

So TSG is a puppet drow? That must be who I was thinking of. I didn't realize I was to work with a legitimate drow the entire time. That kind of changes my views on things a bit. If the deal I had with the Crimson Stranger involved drow that would aid me the whole time, I would be more accepting of Meredian. I will act according to this new insight in my future posts.
Also, ZDt is also determined to turn this city to ash
