You look ahead though don't go to far away form the group, at the end of the hall where the monsters were you see a large open room. filled with stone coffins each bearing a different religious symbol.
If your hurt come here...i can help a little bit Narine calls from the back
Brand Hopespring
"Fricken crazy ah caverns." He walks back towards the others. "Ahhh there is a room up um ahead with ah stone er coffins. I ah hate this place um already. If the er lobby had fleshy monster blobs . . . what do you ah think will be in er stone coffins?"
Maria Tampere
I have an idea.
Maria heads nearby the coffin and kneels down. A low hum faintly resonates through the cavern room as she moves her hands slowly. Starting pressed together, then moving apart. The lids of the coffin's slowly meld together with the caskets. She repeats this process one at a time.
Brand Hopespring
Brand sheepishly asks, "um What if the ah book err nevermind."
Brand Hopespring
Brand thoroughly studies the podium and then the walls.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Scarlet Brightflame
Scarlet looks forward, moving her lips to cast Detect Magic on the podium and the coffins.
GM_IamZero000
Apologies for the absence been busy and sick
Scarlet detects magic on a section of the walls, Maria you notice some oddities about the stones on said wall, scratch and signs that the wall moves. a brick is sticking out slightly more than the others.
Meanwhile Narine begins singing quietly in sylvan, she puts her hand over Baylin's wound. your flesh begins to slowly knit back together Baylin you heal by 7 points.
Children of the land, answer this. Why must you turn to empty bliss
Tell me why break trust, why turn the past to dust. Seeking solace in the abyss. Tell me why create, a circle none can break. Why must you let go, the life you were bestowed
Baylin Storysong
Looks at his wounded arm impressed
Thanks that feels much better hardly not pain left. That was a beautiful language what's it called?
GM_IamZero000
Maria i'll let you have it, the dc was a 20 so brand wouldn't find it even with your help. Scarlet is able to find it due to it having magic used to make it
The language of the fey, Sylvan...the same as the forest's song, try not to listen to it to much, it can be dangerous for humanoids. Our language speaks in true names, meaning while speaking in it one cannot lie.
Scarlet Brightflame
Scarlet grins immediately after detecting magic on the wall.
It seems this may not be a dead end after all.
She points to the magical section of the wall.
Brand Hopespring
Brand smiles moves to the section pointed out.
Perception Checking Traps: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Brand pushes the button and hopes to open the secret.
GM_IamZero000
Brand pushes in the small brick, clicks shifting can be heard from the walls as they move into each other revealing a long winding corridor downward. Following said corridor winding further and further downward until eventually the smell of the crypts disappears. the corridor ends at a small stone hewn room torches light up the room. A man sits at the far end at a wooden table with a large magical glowing book propped open, you see three fresh corpses on the floor, they seem undamaged though are very clearly dead. The man appears to not notice you as he seems to be reading the book.
Brand Hopespring
"Just er finding the um time to read wasn't enough eh? You needed the um cool ambiance of dead folfs to get you settled in?"
GM_IamZero000
The man briefly looks over his shoulder, you can tell he is no older than 20. Black hair tied back, pale skinned, wearing long white robes part of an experiment to see if the legends about the book are the truth, it turns out they are. The book can do anything, it even has records of the past and future. The magic it can teach, what it can do, with enough work even death could be reversed, souls can be brought back from, bodies restored that is what happened here. The man get's up, shutting the book leaving it on the table, Though the fey they squander it's power, from what i can tell you four are outsiders, sent to grab the book so that you can get something you need. I can offer the same.
Brand Hopespring
Brand "Well 'Kainen' the ah Fey have had the er book forever as far as I know if it is as um powerful as you say I am not so sure you are the ah better steward." Brand looks about gaging the distance to the table back to Kainen. "Asking names rude, okay ah stealing all powerful books and asking err folks to back track on honest deals. If this is the new civility you ah already um proved you are unfit."
Baylin Storysong
nods at Brand
Yes. Return what you have stolen, and well let you leave here without incident.I doubt that any of the fairies would be so generous.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Brand Hopespring
initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Brand Hopespring
When Brand sees Maria's rocks fly he flings himself toward the book, grabs it.
Brand avoids enemies if possible if not he uses acrobatics acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24. If there is enough movement left he will hop off the table and under it.
Scarlet Brightflame
My apologies for the delay.
"You think your measly little minion will save you?
Scarlet points her crimson finger at the spider.
Die Insect!
Touch Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
I may use my fireball wand on the two of them, if this fight starts to go sour.
GM_IamZero000
Brand sorry but you failed the dc in the best case scenario for what you want would end up as a 25
Maria indeed rocks Kainen, you even hear a few bones cracking upon connection, the mage seems in dire straits, he mumbles a few esoteric words and disappears in thin air. Scarlet's ray burns the gigantic spider, but it still stands. However not all goes well Brand attempts to slip past the monstrous arachnid only to trip up.
The spider see's the small green snack and bites down into him 6 damage Brand and i need a fortitude save
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
crit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Next Round
Baylin Storysong
Angrly shout at the spider
NO! You'll face me insect
Will move to face the spider
Warhammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Brand Hopespring
I still got the book right I can take a small hit.
Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
poodoo
Scarlet Brightflame
Ughh, we let him escape!
Scarlet sends another flesh incinerating ray to the spider.
Fiery Ray: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Do we have the book?
Brand Hopespring
I assumed failure to succeed avoiding AOO meant the spider attacked and then I moved past unless paralyzed, tripped, unconscious or grappled. I am used to a different ruling. Fallen, now prone and not past the enemy is a much steeper failure than I expected.
Round 2
Brand scrambles away withdrawing under the table well away from the spider. Crawling away. Withdraw action.
"Not yet I wasn't expecting the spider was that fast. I'll get it."
Brand Hopespring
Now I see. Brand still withdraws under the table.
"Kill it I'll get the book."
Maria Tampere
Alrighty, so I should have 12 hp left from burn, forgot to add that. Is there another way out of this room we can see?
Okay. Maria responds simply to Brands request.
Smash bug: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Technically its an Arachnid #peanutgallery: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
What am I doing!? I need to be more careful than that. Maria looks unnerved, losing her normal composure for a moment after dragging a clump of earth from the ceiling, directly onto the spider.
GM_IamZero000
Scarlet's ray fire wildly off to the left, missing the spider but conveniently light an unlit torch on the wall. Maria and Baylin Crush the gigantic spider, it fizzles out of existence. You seem to be alone now in the room with the book, a page seems to be ripped out it.
Maria, you'll need a perception check for that. without out it you see nothing obvious. i'm counting this as still in combat if you do roll so no taking ten
