mdt: I like that pic. The only other thing I've found that is OK is this. I was thinking about having a helmet (for practical reasons, since I will be running into folks from time to time) but if I decide not to have one, the pic you found is great.
And as far as Sue Storm, I should've specified I was looking for group combat shots (esp. vs Doom). Glad to see you found some more active ones, although a few of those look pretty pin-up-ish to me too.
Not that I have any XP to spend yet, but thinking ahead: is "when lose consciousness" a valid trigger? I'm thinking of trying to find someone to make me an emergency parachute that would trigger if I'm knocked out while running up the side of a tall building (or just end up taking a big fall).
Also, has there been any talk of costumes yet? Do you have a preference for whether my kevlar suit + reinforced gloves are something I've bought myself or something I get from this group?

Honestly, I haven't got a name for the organization. Usually I let the players pick it, along the veins of 'we operate as cells, so pick your cell's name for us' logic.

Uniforms/costumes are kind of up to the group how they want to work them.
The original group that I ran in this game (Blur, Grid, Shimmer, and Sparky are the three I kept from that game, I let the characters made by my resident moron player and pain in the butt player get dropped by the way side) had all sorts of logic on their uniforms. Sparky used a rubber diving suit. Blur used a full contact tae'kwon'do combat uniform plus a fencing mask. Gridlock used a trenchcoat (with the whole looking like stones, didn't feel he needed one). And Shimmer's character changed outfits every week.
Probably makes more sense for the kevlar suit to be something you got from them for now.

The best image I can find for Hotaru is in her profile. The internet doesn't seem to want to share with me, overmuch. :) She's actually much darker in skin tone, but I'm pretending it's sort of bleached by the filters used.

A) I don't really want to go searching through the thread for links, so please add them to the spreadsheet.
B) If you are making your own map icons, that's fine, but please make both a regular, and a 90 degree version, as the hexes may be in either direction. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, see the Resort link on the other game thread.
C) If you are making your own icons, please pick one. :) Unless you have duplication that is.
mdt, I was playing around with Google image editor and see that they can be cropped as hexagons. I put some examples on the map. Let me know if you have Qs.

AH! I see what you did. :) I didn't realize it would do that.
Biggest problem I see is that I don't see an easy way to do the 90 degree pictures (my hex templates are some times 90 degrees to the one I'm using on that one).
I've been using GIMP to create these, so I can go into it and rotate the hex layer and get it 90 degrees.
I hope Whippoorwill's 180 makes sense from a character standpoint. Given her unusual "recruitment," she had no reason to think she would be allowed to remain part of the team. Once she found out that she'd be staying with them, she opens up.

It's a disadvantage. :) Her EMF nukes things she touches, that spreads out wider when her shield is active (she creates a field around herself). Using 'waves' to contact the machine shouldn't be at all hard... and might not even be a language slot, since, in theory, there are only so many inputs. It'd be more like learning an alphabet, maybe?
Also, having went through the internet a bit since I got home, I'm glad I picked Saint Louis. They have some pretty good radio stations. (Unlike Hodunk Tennessee :()
BTW, I'm taking my 3.5 yr old daughter camping from sometime tomorrow through Sunday night. I may get another post or two in tonight or in the AM but I'll be gone most of the weekend.

Also, I did not at all intend to wind up with something very jubilee-like, but ironically, images of jubilee seem to match the best. She just had the right skin tone in most of her fan art, hair color, power set, etc. I may actually have her dress up like jubilee on occasion just to play with that.

Speaking of... something Taru would be trying to do, is figure out how to 'surf' on metal. If you've played infamous, the rail riding power is what I'm talking about (though I'm sure it's easy to imagine). Likewise, she'll be trying to figure out if she can railgun things. :)

Which is why for my (the player's) next big writing project, I'm having to put firm limits on what each "Type" of "Gifted" can do, because "absorb and redirect electromagnetic energy" is just too danged broad a category.

I plan to push her in a specific direction and have her not really just 'broaden'. I'd like the 'magnetic' part to be sort of background to the 'perception' toys, but I don't want to rule it out.
The main focus I'd like is having Hotaru play with tech, reliance on tech, and the like. As it stands, a big draw of playing an electromagnetic character was what they could do in a technological setting (watching cameras, that sort of stuff), the 'magnetic' part was sort of a secondary thing that cropped up during character creation that I thought was nifty.
I'm not sure how experience advances in this, but if I were to set things up on my own, the first thing I'd want to do is 'buy down' her shield's endurance cost. From there, I'd like to expand on her current toys to make them more fun to play with. Maybe getting a faster read on her radio senses, or grabbing machine telepathy, stuff like that.
My problem is, that if I focus on support/non-combat, the parts where you guys do combat are going to be kind of slow for me. But I'd really rather focus on the support side of things, like active surveillance and killing surveillance.
Experience points in HERO are directly converted into character points - on a 1:1 basis. Essentially, every XP you get makes your character incrementally more powerful. Some people choose to spend those points on skills, others on improving powers, others on characteristics, etc.
Everyone will tell you different ways to get the "most" out of your character, but really it's up to you.
Disclaimer out of the way, I'd suggest that the best way to make your shield cost less endurance is to buy the "Reduced Endurance" advantage on it at your first opportunity. There are multiple levels of that Advantage, each of which will increase the overall cost of your shield by a percentage of its original cost - however, you will be able to keep your shield active for much longer as a result of that cost.
Be careful when piling on Advantages. As the powers creation system in HERO is based on Additives and Multipliers, they can very quickly get overly expensive. One of the reasons I had to drop Violet's Mind Link ability was because when I took it out of the Multi-Power framework, it skyrocketed up to over 70 points when I had everything on it I wanted (including the ability to talk to the entire team at once).
Luckily, if we can get some cheap radios, Hotaru can do similar for the team... probably for cheaper. No where near as fast or quietly, though. I think that's my first expenditure, getting us a comm network. :)
He -probably- can drive anything he hops into. I'm almost willing to place money on that. (Possibly because he borrowed the knowledge of how to drive it from someone else). :P

@Aegis - Collossus, so you'll likely want to wear a mask or something. I have no issues with it also turning her hair metal though, so the color can be secret.
Would I be able to buy that it disguise her later on? Not having to carry a mask around would be nice and finding noncreepy/nonsexual golden pictures is surprisingly difficult.
Also IC Aegis would likely vote herself for leader but OOC I'd vote Whip
