We have covered humans and Natural Ambition before, and also goblins and dwarves with their darkvision, but another very good race candidate would be the elf. With Nimble, an elf has an impressive speed 35, perfect for offsetting those completely aggravating speed penalties from medium and heavy armor.
Sure, an elf's +2 Intelligence and -2 Constitution might be a bother for assigning ability scores, but at least an elf will always be spoken for on the speed front. Low-light vision, while not darkvision, is not bad, either.
There is also the option of being a half-elf with Nimble, but that takes two whole ancestry feats. Still, it could lead to more beneficial ability scores, and it can open up Natural Ambition at 9th level.
