Height and Weight Restrictions in PFS

Pathfinder Society

So, I'm making a particularly large human character, and I notice that maximum for human height/weight as rolled is 6'6" and 220 lbs. Does that mean that is the very tallest and heaviest you can make a human in PFS? I've known a couple people from my fencing days that were taller than 6'6", and I think probably 20% of my male friends weigh more than 220. Heck, I used to weigh more than 220.

You are limited by the chart.

You must stay within either the range of the chart, or have some ability or effect that permanently modified your character's height or weight.

There is an Adventure where your character can permanently change sex, which could potentially put you over the height/weight restriction if your original sex was heavier than your modified sex.

And there is another Adventure where you could randomly grow/shrink some number of inches (which would also affect your weight).

But in general, stick with the chart. Case in point, I present the 1500 pound Hephalump.

Pathfinder universe laughs at the squared cube law. Given the listed weights Ogres are made out of balsa wood and adamantine golems have a marshmallow core.

Mind you, there's nothing prevending you from describing your character as looking like a 400 pound slab of 6 foot 6 muscle.

Wouldn't that violate the "no reskinning" rule?

No reskinning is turning one THING into another. A human into an ogre, a half orc into a cyclops or something.

You could also avoid a specific weight and describe something that obviously does not fit the weird height and weight chart like

"a walking slab of meat, 6 feet 6 inches tall, with broad shoulders and a deep chest Carl "The Cart" Carter has added a large keg of a beer belly over the years but doesn't let it slow him down. "

Either that or every 6 foot 6 character needs to look like a lamp post.

Reskinning is using the rules for one thing, but trying to pass it off as something else.

The famous example that originally blew up the forums was a player using the stats of a wolf (or dog, I can't remember which), and passing it off as a pig (which uses entirely different stats, speed, armor class, etc).

So in this case, reskinning would be using a Human (max weight 220 pounds), and saying it was really 500 pounds (which affects traps, carrying capacity, and a few other weight-based spells and effects).

The reskinning rule can best be summarized as: "you can use descriptive language to differentiate your creature or item but the actual mechanics have to be within the rules."

The player wanted to have a "riding pig." At the time there was no such thing as a pig companion, so she used the dog companion (a legal choice for her class) and said it was a pig. All the stats were those of a dog. No attempt to gain mechanical advantage. No attempt. But it turns out there is a mechanical difference.

The scenario involved Goblins. Who have a special relationship with dogs.

Feel free to describe your character as "he's the biggest, beefiest, heaviest human you have ever seen. You're surprised the floorboards can actually hold his weight." Just make sure that for anything where weight matters, the real number doesn't exceed 220 lbs.

Reminds me of this rat.

Would an affect that permanetly adds a goblin ear give you a reason to add weight more but I am not sure how much that weighs.
