How do ranged attacks work while flying in Pathfinder?

Advice

Heya! Im currently working out future magic items for a gunslinger character ive been developing. The idea for her was originally inspired by "Quiet" from Metal Gear Solid 5 the Phantom Pain. I'm a musket master who is being built up to be a high powered sniper, stay far away, keep an eye on the enemy and protect the casters and dumb orc fighter the best I can from excess damage. Ok, ok, regardless. Im new to the concept of flying really, I was hoping to pick up the 5x5 carpet of flying or more ideally, I would like to grab wings of flying very much. I needed to know how guns work from high up. Does targeting work the same as it does on the ground?

On the ground I have to get dirrect line of site on our grid map and shoot enemies, in the air if there is nothing else in the air to block my shot, then can I be effectively anywhere on the board and still shoot a target within my "range"?

The targeting part is the same. It just includes a vertical component. It would be just like standing on a ridge shooting down at enemys below you.

You should put some skills in the fly skill. Being able to hover will be useful so that you do not need to move every round. You may also want a good score for encounters flying creatures so you can out-maneuver them if need be.

And maybe a ring of feather falling, just in case you get knocked off the carpet or if your wings get shreadded...

That sounds like a good call. So the targettting, I guess I can shoot like, down at and angle of straight down? I'm having trouble picturing this.
