Abandoned party of five seeking a new GM to lead an AP!

Recruitment

About a year ago we started the first book of an AP only to have our GM disappear after a few months. Luckily another GM stepped in and picked up the torch and carried us along for another several months. Unfortunately he too disappeared in October of 2016. One of our players stepped up GM the game temporarily, but we'd like to find a permanent GM so he can play again.

We are currently playing the first book of Hell's Rebels, but none of us are overly attached to this AP and would be up for a different game if need be. We've had some internal discussion and have narrowed our preferences to one of the following APs:

Hell's Rebels
Curse of the Crimson Throne
Second Darkness
Serpent's Skull
Carrion Crown
Jade Regent
Skull & Shackles

If you have any interest, please let us know!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I could be interested so long as you don't mind a GM learning a bit as we go, as I have never run a game online before. I do however run IRL multiple times per month both for PFS and an on going Carrion Crown game. My Carrion Crown game has been running at least 2-3 hours twice per month over the course of 3 years and we are just now into book 5 of the AP.

Now as for what I would be willing to run I would most definitely be most comfortable running Carrion Crown. It is the AP that I am most familiar with and have the most information prepped for.

I am able to post at least once a day every day of the week with exceptions for holidays and such.

Wow, I didn't quite expect to get a hit that quickly - thanks Joe!

Carrion Crown is in our list, so I don't expect anyone to turn it down. Let me drop a quick note to the team, I'll shoot you a PM after I hear back. I appreciate the offer.

Silver Crusade

Big Joe, I'm one of the other players in the game. I second the thanks for your offer.

Can you describe just a little your GM philosophy?

Silver Crusade

Of course Redelia.

My GM philosophy is first and foremost to make sure that everyone is enjoying themselves in whatever game is being played. So long as you are having fun you are likely to stick around and even encourage others to join in on a game.

Communication both between players and between the GM and players is vitally important to making a game come alive and thrive. If ever there are problems, concerns, or even just suggestions on how to make things easier for you I strongly encourage you to speak with me. I promise to do the same for you. Also if ever a conflict arises over anything I want to talk it out and encourage players to do the same among themselves. This helps to avoid hurt feelings and egos most of the time.

Finally, I enjoy running a game in which I set the tone but allow the players to drive the story for right, wrong, or even so far off afield that we are running far beyond the written page for the adventure path. I enjoy role playing and will happily banter with PC's through the NPC's. I also enjoy seeing characters grow organically with the story and flourish as the game progresses. While it is nice to have an idea of where you want the character to advance don't be afraid to let the story influence your character advancement.

If you would like to know more I am happy to expound on any of what I have written above or on other topics.

Silver Crusade

Thanks, that was what I needed.

Hey Big Joe - thanks for stepping up! I have only read the marketing blurbs on Carrion Crown, but it sounds like fun. Do you lean towards creepy horror, or do you like cheesy fun when running this? (I am going to come up with a different character concept, and can see a couple of paths...)

Also, do you have any no-gos? Gunslingers, archtypes, etc? I don't have anything specific to ask about, but if there are things you just don't want, I figure it is worth tackling that issue up front.

Thanks!

Silver Crusade

I'll probably be keeping the same character in idea, but perhaps changing the mechanics. Kessa is either a paladin or a warpriest. For a paladin, I tend to read the lawful as her deity's laws and care for an orderly society, rather than the nation's laws. I also often choose a NG deity and rather hug the line between LG and NG. I don't want 'traps' to make the paladin fall, but _might_ be interested in choosing to fall sacrificially (for the sake of good), as long as I know that it can be fixed quickly. Are we going to be able to work together on this? If this idea of a paladin doesn't work for you, I can certainly build the character as a warpriest instead.

I will have a closed recruitment thread up by February 15, 2017 at 12:00 PM EST for everyone involved with all of the character creation guidelines for this campaign. I will be sure to post the link to that thread here once it is up.

Thank you all for giving me a chance to run a game for you. :)

Redelia:
I am perfectly fine with that idea. It will be interesting to see how you choose to portray your deities portents and tenants of the faith.

Here is the link to the recruitment thread with character creation guidelines for the Carrion Crown AP play by post.

I've heard from the bulk of the party and they are onboard. We'll be there - Thanks Joe.

Silver Crusade

You are all welcome and I look forward to a fun time.
