Reduce crit multiplier to increase range

Advice

I have a character who is using mining picks for weapons. For flavor reasons, I'd like to keep using picks. I am taking the Butterfly's Sting feat that lets you pass a confirmed crit off to the next ally to hit that same creature.

I am not aware of any way to reduce the crit multiplier in order to extend the range. I am familiar with mercurial from 3.0 (19-20x2 becomes 20x4). What I need is the opposite of that.

I am looking for suggestions on how to modify a pick as doing less crit damage in order to crit more often. Skinning it is an option too if I can come up with something that makes sense. All I've come up with so far is sharpening the edge of the blade to make it less pointed, but sharper.

Thoughts?

I know this is no answer to your question (sadly i don't have any, aside from the standard improved critical or keen enchantment) but I have to ask:
Why would you want to work the butterfly sting in this direction? The pick is one of the iconic weapons to be on the receiving end of that trick, not on the giving...

Weapon Master's Handbook has the option of building custom weapons, only limited by creativity - and design points.

But you might be better off to simply ask your GM. 20/x4 is pretty much equivalent to 18-20/x2 - means a heavy pick becomes a scimitar. I'd let it fly - UNLESS the player tries to use dwarf's weapon proficiency to get free access to scimitar. Or something like that...

Finally, some people say you can use Butterfly's String on yourself (being your own ally) - for example by dual-wielding a heavy pick and kukri. While this sounds totally amazing, it comes with a few strings attached:

a) The cost of a feat
b) Combat Expertise as prerequisite (can be bypassed, but then you replace this string by another)
c) Fighting with two weapons, a feat hungry combat style
d) The need to hit with the other weapon
e) Some foes are crit immune anyway, so relying on it too much backfires

Fair question. My character has four arms. I plan to have a high range weapon in my main hand and picks in offhands. Pass the crit to myself since I count as my own ally. Depending on how often I threaten, I may do 2 and 2.
