Item mastery feats: i might as well be the first to ask...

Rules Questions

Dark Archive

I have 3 questions about item mastery feats:
1. It should be assumed but lets spell it out now... Can you use magic ammo to produce effects?
2. What if you multiclass? Does your base fort save from all classes get used? Thats pretty exploitable...
3. What about temporary magic items? For example can i use occultist legacy weapon ability to produce a suitable item on demand?

Id like answers from officials if i can get em... Please dont debate rules here... Give your opinion and perhaps a rules quote to back it up.

Feel free to nail that faq button!

1. Ammo is an item with a limited number of uses, so no dice.

2. Of course you use your entire fort save, just you get to use bab from multiclassing to qualify for combat feats. No precedent or imicatiln for anything else.

3. I don't know the occultist class, so I would go back to the requirement that it be a pemanent, non-charged item. Does this meet that test?

2. Your Fort save is your fort save, however it is reached, unless you are playing PFS in which only one class' fort save is allowed, but that is a specific exception to the rules.

1) Since the magic on ammunition is expended when you use it, I would count it as a magic item with a limited number of uses and therefore not acceptable for use w/ Item Mastery feats.

2) By RAW, yes, the combined base fort save is used. It definitely grants access to some abilities earlier than a similarly leveled spellcaster but the limited uses per day and the need to dip into multiple classes makes it a relative non-issue. PFS has a house-rule as follows:

3) IMO, granting an item a special ability does not mean that that item now has certain spells in its construction requirements. After all, its still the same item, just with bonus abilities and enhancement bonus tacked on temporarily. So my answer would be no.

EDIT: Ninja'd on #2
