Order of Operations

Rules Questions

Say I have Cleaving Finish, and I'm riding a mount with advancing armor. They both trigger when I kill an enemy, can I pick which triggers first, or is there a certain order?

The same goes for a Order of the Flame cavalier (when they kill an enemy, they can challenge another enemy within 15 ft. as an immediate action)....well, probably a whole lot of other things.

Basically, when one action triggers two separate actions, how do you determine which triggers first, when it matters?

I'm pretty sure it's commutative like addition; you can order them as you see fit. When I get a chance, I'll do a bit more looking to be sure, but that's my guess for now.

Well, Cleaving Finish might be a bad example, cause it specifies you make another attack at an enemy within reach. I would assume that's in your reach at the time the enemy dies.

But for reference:

Order of the Flame's Glorious Challenge:
Challenge: A cavalier of the order of the flame becomes ever more emboldened with each glorious victory. As an immediate action after reducing the target of his challenge to 0 hit points or fewer, the cavalier can elect to issue a glorious challenge to an opponent within 15 feet.

Glorious Challenge: A glorious challenge does not count against the cavalier's number of challenges per day, but otherwise acts like a cavalier's challenge class feature.

Advancing Armor:

A suit of armor with the advancing special ability allows its wearer to move through fallen enemies to the forefront of any conflict. Once per round when the wearer of a suit of advancing armor reduces an opponent to 0 hit points or fewer with a melee attack, she can immediately move up to 10 feet as a free action. This movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity. If this armor is created as barding, the effect is triggered if either the mount or its rider reduces an opponent to 0 hit points or fewer, and allows the mount to move up to 10 feet.

I would say that the two occur mostly simultaneously, and therefore the target of Cleave's second hit, or of the glorious challenge, must be within range both before and after the move.
