What Element Fits A Barbarian?

Advice

I have an interesting concept I am working on for a new PFS character, but there is one major detail I can't quite nail down.

Firstly, I should mention I am NOT an optimizer. I have the most fun with interesting concepts. This also explains why I like to multiclass in a game that pushes single classes; I have a hard time staying pure.

The character will be a Kellid Barbarian (Unchained, possibly Titan Mauler) from the Realm of the Mammoth Lords that develops some psychokinetic powers. While I don't have Occult Adventures yet, I intend to get it before the end of May. I've heard a lot of negative things about the Kineticist, but it still looks fun to me.

What I'm not sure of is which element to use. Earth sounds good for a tough character, Fire fits well with the rage in a Barbarian's heart, and Water (Cold) suits the people from the crown of the world.

What kind of Kineticist should I be?

possible stats:
STR 16
DEX 13
CON 16
INT 10
WIS 12
CHA 10

Human (Kellid) Unchained Barbarian (Titan Mauler?) 2-4, _____Kineticist 8-10

Feats @ 1st: Tribal Scars (Slothjaw) & Toughness
Traits: Wary of Danger, Spirit Animal (Smilodon) & Indomitable Faith (granted by boon)

hp @ 1st: 24
Saves @ 1st: Fort +5, Ref + 2, Will + 3

Unsure how well barbarian multiclasses with kinetcisit. This is a 'the rules might break' thing, not an optimization thing. Kinetcisits rely on SLAs (their blasts are SLAs), and you can't really do those in a normal rage. Blood rager might pull it off, but you can't do it before level 5. And that might bring up the problem of 'why bother?'.

But ignoring all that and looking at 'kineticist with barbarian flavor':
aether could be interesting- being so one with the sword that it responds to your will.
air- FREEE!FREEEE!! FREEEE!!!! - ie- freedom unbound by even the ground. Also, you could yell for your air blasts.

We've got an Earth Kineticist Kellid in the Mummy's Mask game we're about to start. Works well thematically and mechanically.

But really, all the elements seem to work fine thematically, except maybe aether.

On a purely mechanical note, I'd be disinclined to multiclass Kineticist with Barbarian, since you can't rage and use any kineticist abilities at the same time. It's just not gonna work that well

Just use a Trait to get survival as a Class Skill and flavor your character as a Barbarian. You don't need the Class to be a barbarian in the standard definition.

If I'm already raging and find myself in need of my elemental powers, I would adopt a calm stance and unleash a different kind of fury.

You can certainly do this, but the combo winds up weaker than the sum of its parts rather than stronger.

True. kineticist scales HARD, and would be, at best, a 'meh' attack to do on standard action attacks (...which is meaningless on 'pounce em' barbarians; other classes might appreciate a 'vital strike' style attack, but barbarians can usually just go for a full attack instead). And you would be delaying rage powers for a 'meh' attack.

And one of the few ways to get that 'calm stance' without suffering fatigue would be moment of clarity...which doesn't allow you to benefit from rage.

Can't urban barbarian/bloodrager use sla's while raging? I still wouldn't dip for more than 1-2 levels.

Not really. They just alters rage so it lacks the normal penalties/bonuses and they can use various skills that are usually banned during rage. It doesn't remove the text that prevents 'concentration' based activities in general outside of skills.
