Yeah. Just unfortunate timing.

C'est la vie. Hey, what's the name of that poutine restaurant?

Just found a 4th-great-grandmother named Euphan Sword. Nobody famous, but I think that's a kickass name.

Was she ever a character in a Final Fantasy game?

ooh, good point. Let me know if you would rather enjoy an evening of intimate company or if you are free for an evening of late night exploration.

Yes, I realize that sounds like two of the same thing.

She should have been.

Question: do you make anything from orders through DeviantArt?

Probably post concert stuff would be cool. Maybe a bar for some drinks

Six hours sleep. I'm feeling very decadent

GOOD MORNING TREEFORTNAM!!!!

Hadn't trotted out Adrian in a while

Seven hours, 32 minutes before I work again. Time to make good on that slice of time.

Ugh. Not a good morning.

SHould have been ok. WOULD have been ok,

But that blasted headache I woke up with, made me nauseous.

It wasn't pretty. Still had to go to work. :P

While I enjoy the job security, sometimes I wish I wasn't the ONLY person on campus that can do my job! ;P

Still,... coffee, so life is looking up! ;)

You should pick one semester to just phone it in.

"Yeah, so we're doing something very conceptual this term. Instead of sets and costumes, we are going to rely on imagination and your skills as thespians to set the scene. We may or may not even follow a script. It's art! Art, I tell you!"

Do "Our Town." Two ladders and a porkpie hat.

Zoo story. Park bench.

Waiting for Godot. Cardboard tree, rope, smoke machine.

Year of the classics.

*Drejk passes used book, noticed 1st and 2nd tome of Millennium series*

Great, now I am short food money for three days, I went to sleep around 10 or 11 am, and still haven't finished the first tome. I almost finished it, there is maybe 20 pages left, but I was almost unconscious and had to fall down into my bed.

And there is a second book...

And I have to write...

Treppa's Night:
"Wow, she's really asleep. Haven't seen her sleep this well since she got off all the painkillers and stuff."

"Right? Her eyes closed the second she lay down, and she hasn't moved since. I bet she's getting really restful, healing sleep."

"Yeah, and it's been - what, an hour and a half? I think that's quite enough, don't you?"

"Definitely. OK, what should we do? Neighbors have never been a problem. She has the window open. How about neighbors in another party fighting... or screaming or partying, whatever?"

"Do it... Huh. That seems ineffective."

"Yeah, don't think she even hears it. We need something else. I'm not losing my job by letting her sleep all night!"

"Here, how's this?"

*chirp--chirp--chirp*

"Oh, that's beautiful! Loud and obnoxious! What did you do? Hey, it stopped, and she's not awake. That's no good."

"Just wait. I drained the CO2 detector batteries. Yeah, it stopped, but every minute all night it'll be..."

*chirp--chirp--chirp*

"Beautiful! That one woke her up, but she went right back to sleep. Still hasn't moved."

"Patience, my young padawan."

*chirp--chirp--chirp*

"See? She opened her eyes. It's like Chinese water torture. And now..."

*chirp--chirp--chirp*

"...now she hears the neighbors. Yeah, she dropped back off, but her mind is awake, processing the notion that if she can hear this abomination, they can too..."

*chirp--chirp--chirp*

"...and she's got to get up to stop it. See?"

"Ha ha! Oh, this is priceless! She looks like a marionette with half the strings cut. Don't humans have any coordination?"

"Not usually at 1 am and not if they've been sleeping very soundly."

*chirp--chirp--chirp*

"Now she's looking for the failing detector..."

*chirp--chirp--chirp*

"Now she's figured out it's in the hallway, not her room..."

*chirp--chirp--chirp*

"Now she knows it's the CO2 detector on the wall and she doesn't need the ladder she just dragged out."

*chirp--chirp--chirp*

"Now she's realized that she can't get the batteries out without utensils. She'll need the toolbox... woah, wait."

*chirp--chirp--skrnk*

"Wow, that's the fastest and most vicious kitchen knife surgery I've ever seen."

"I'll say."

"Wish we could show this to the other insomnia demons back at the office."

"Don't worry, I'm recording. And want to see the best of all? Watch."

"She's lying there with her eyes open."

"Yeah, now she's awake, she can hear the neighbors fighting. She's not gonna get back to sleep for a long time."

"Yeah! We rule!"

"High five!"

*makes notes* Insomnia demons...

Though I think it would qualify as div ("...doing all in their power not simply to destroy but also to torment all that lives. Patient and vicious, divs seek to spoil all things beautiful and joyous, dooming their victims to existences full of frustration and suffering before succumbing to lengthy, painful deaths."), maybe kytons or sahkils...

Weird day. I wanted to get more done than I did, but despite 6 hours of good sleep I was still tired. I ended up napping for another hour in the afternoon before work. Now I'm here until midnight, then I'm doing a 8am-midnight shift on Sunday

I am not trying to complain (ok, ok, I am) but two troubles does not equal two callouts if they are in the same office at the same time. ~grins~

Is there a way to buy prints where you actually make something? I don't want money going to a middleman.

I woke in the middle of the night just as the daylight saving ended... It's Sunday. Is that a prod from the universe to go on with that idea for a blog?

Something is wrong.

I woke up really cheery this morning, did some exercise, ate right, cleaned up all the junk and mail from my desk, paid bills, finished up Wayfinder editing and sent it in, got my medical accounts set up online, reviewed my upcoming appointment schedule and found it was way off, set up my schedule for next week on paper and phone, scanned and destroyed a bunch of receipts, moved money to be sure my Nov 1-5 autopayments were covered, finished my ballot and put it and my vehicle renewal in my purse to be dealt with Wednesday after doctor, got work scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, bought goodies for tomorrow night's NaNoWriMo kickoff party, am watching the Cubs game and working on filing.

My desk is clean. My room is clean. I feel organized and efficient and ready for the world.

Something is very wrong.

Congrats?

Bushyasta (div)

Funny thing is, that I wrote majority of it first and then found there are certain similarities to an actual div* that spreads sloth: Bushyasta. I changed the name to match it from the initial Freptar (another mythological div that distracts people for which I found no other information) and turned its color from smoky to historical yellow and green, but the long spindly arms were there first. The spider-monkey look, multiple eyes, and mandibles were my own idea.

*Avestian devas/daevas are evil entities, div being their name in Modern Persian, and are the basis for Pathfinder divs. D&D/Pathfinder good devas are based on Indian devas.

Maybe you have been replaced by a robotic Treppa-bot and some cleaning/organizational routine kicked in autonomously?

Well, things are looking up. I might have a full-time position soon at WHOI! YAY!

In other news, Samhain has come and gone with little fanfare this year. I am kind of disappointed with myself. I didn't make the effort to get a pumpkin or decorate. It doesn't help that I live in the least likely place for a trick-or-treater to come. I got precisely zero kids at the door.

Although I kind of understand why I didn't, I still think that it is important to do these small things, even when you are busy and broke.
