Vordakai Trapped?

Kingmaker

In the intro it says that Vordakai was trapped. It does not give an details that I can find. Are there any? Also is he still trapped or can he leave the tomb now if he wants to?

It said that? Hmm. I completely ignored that part.

Potential spoilers:

Spoilery stuff here:
Wasn't the necklace(?) that was removed from the tomb, part of the seal that kept him in stasis?

It's been 2 years since we played that part, so I could be wrong.

It said that stealing the bracelet woke him up.

There is a conversation or 2 on these boards about that very thing...

From memory different GMs handled it different ways.

For my part, yes, the theft of the bracelet woke him up, but I also had the
whole of his tomb still resonant with magic, which on a high enough spellcraft
was seen to be failing slowly.

He is no loger trapped.
In the module backstory it is written that Vordakai himself went out and used the Oculus power on the outskirts of Varnhold.
Given the Oculus range of action this couldn't have been otherwise.

On what were the mechanisms of his inprisonement there is no further explanation, though I believe the easiest way to handle it would be to rule that the removal of the 'bracelet' is what woke AND allowed him to escape.

this also means that if he is forced to, Vordakai might even consider escaping...

I'm thinking of making the tomb a layered demi-plane suitable for a former level 20.

Consider including this guy if you do. But I'd replace his deck of cards with some kind of Harrow/card caster variant ability.
