In a public setting, yeah, it's probably a good idea to be sober. In a private setting, eh, depends on the scenario.

Trouble in Tamran was interesting with half the party tipsy.

I have bipolar friend that is horrible to play D&D with if he is sober. Get a beer or two in him he is awesome!

Of course, now I want to run Hall of Drunken Heroes out of my home, and run some sort of drinking game alongside the PFS scenario. I'm thinking something along the lines of, I don't know, just have everyone drink heavily throughout the scenario. Maybe run it as a special post Gencon scenario?

Ascalphus, I am confident that you and I could hand each other ANY legal PFS characters and the other would be able to play them in a cooperative, helpful, and enjoyable way together. Which, again, means that the character is not inherently disruptive. :)

Ascalaphus' persistent glitterdust wayang wizard would probably disagree.. He had alot of trouble playing that one without being disruptive.

Wait, drinking at GenCon? Unheard of...

UndeadMitch, that could be arranged.

Yeah, the full rebuild that I sort of got by accident was a godsend, the new version is much more fun for everyone.

You got it from me: wizards can be less disruptive than another class. In this case, I'm not stuck with a short list of spells "prepared" for "spontaneous" casting. Wizard preparation lets me vary more.

I've heard some cons described as a drinking convention with a gaming problem.

Sounds like the PFS I'm used to. ;-)

I even have photographic evidence.

I also forgot to mention that later in the session he was so drunk he couldn't play getting a character killed and leaving only 2 other players on the table to continue. Since technically he was still at the table but not capable of making decisions.

Do you actually play PFS with a player who is so drunk he can't speak, move, or do anything but grunt randomly in between his naps.

I've organized a local con the last two years called Tavern Con. It's located in a winery/brewery. Two days of PFS and drinking for those that enjoy that sort of thing.

I unfortunately missed it but I heard that Murder at The Drunken Caravan last Frostbite went so well some of the players can't remember a thing. If anyone's played/run it, think about the first encounter, just with shot glasses instead of goblin miniatures.

Second encounter, actually. And apparently the GM thought he was acting very sober the whole time. The table disagreed unanimously.

I stand corrected.

And. tipsy too. Bless the season.
