Enora power timing

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Hello,

Just started WotR. A player built Enora with two brilliances, when do you recharge the random spell? Is it when displaying or when you recharge the brilliance. Also, is there a rule against stacking +skill spells? With a villain cornered Enora played into herself 2 brilliances before exploring for +6 combat and autorecharges. It seems really powerful with her role card too.

The power states: "After you play a spell ..." so I would say you recharge the random spell immediately after playing (and while displayed). Not when you recharge, otherwise the power would state: "After you recharge a spell ...". Right ?

I agree that it's immediately after displaying the spell; displaying a card is one way of playing it.

This gets me thinking: this FAQ entry about Sphere of Fire would seem to indicate that you can trigger Enora's power each time she uses the Sphere for her combat check (which is possibly only relevant if you play Enora in S&S).

Well, the rule is that you can only play once card of each type per combat check, but if you play both your Brilliance cards BEFORE exploring, I think that is a pretty legal move, in all honesty.

Thanks for your answers, it all seems legal, the thing surprising us is to get to defeat almost without rolling with basic cards, so early in the AP. +6 with the brilliances and +1 arcane makes basic spells 1D12+2D4+7, and you can recover spells from discard.

That's true. The trade-off, though is that you can only carry so many spells.

I know it all comes down to personal preference, but I get nervous when I have less than 4 combat spells in my deck. Also, with all of the damage being handed out and Enora's lack of armor, I'd definitely grab Mirror Image asap.

Also, don't underestimate a good evasion spell to deal with monsters you don't actually have to defeat (such as certain summoned monsters).
