SOOO everyone wanted to play some steampunk so I can only think of the bioshock and dishonored universe so I'm thinking magic is very rare brought in by those blessed by gods and demigods and guns are gonna be martial weapons anymore imput?

Buy the pure steam campaign setting. Unless you're very creative, I suggest using something like that.

If you have a set group of players all of you should probably sit down together so you don't waste time making things they don't to play. If you have options, then find other players.

They want to play steam this was raved about basically

Sorry to hear that, I hope you didn't invest too much time and effort.

Getting the players involved is crucial for any campaign and the GM can only do so much to sell his setting. Talk to your players! 'Some steampunk' is not very precise. What game experience are they looking for? What sources of inspiration are they thinking of when they talk about steampunk?
A brainstorming session where everyone expresses their expectations and wishes is a good start. Then you can look for a setting/system that fits your group's interest. Again, involve your players and, if possible, share some of the workload (especially if you are creating your own setting).
Also, one shots can be a good way to test player interest with limited investment on the GM's side.

Don't get discouraged!

Not discouraged I've been working on this on and off for about a month so far Im gonna have them branded with a sign from a diety after they are saved from some people who were already branded to show the power they may yet wield

But not before they buy there equipment fight somewhat and maybe a starter quest not sure on that yet

Well there's Thunderscape if you need a tone and setting.

How I normally go about things is to pretty much leave things alone and add in some third party stuff. Pathfinder is still at it's best as a high fantasy and the existence of tech or magi-tech shouldn't have to change that.

Eberron is also "steampunk" in some ways, but it focuses mostly on how magic would affect society when taken to the extremes that we see it in the game. So it basically replaces steam engine technology with magic, to give you things like trains that operate by binding lightning elementals to metal cabs or airships that fly because they're made of superlight wood surrounded by a fire elemental ring that keeps it aloft. Cool stuff, really fun setting if you get into it since it has a really rich world, and it'd save you some work on the worldbuilding. Just tell them to read the Eberron background stuff on wikis.

There's also a site that's converting everything to Pathfinder (not sure if they're done yet or not), so you could jump straight in from 3.5 to PF. And be warforged, heeyah!
