Hello people

I am pretty much a beginner in terms of playing pathfinder, and been playing a drow in this journey my mate is dm-ing. Now my problem is that my mates in our group told me its a good idea to get pcgen rather then having a issue with keeping up with my character sheet and its miss. Problem is I can't open any sources as it says I don't have a licence. When applying here for a contract I've gotten confused with the layout of the template.. what do I put in the website section and product lines, to explain I am using it for pcgen??

Hi Kiwionwheels,

This forum is for the Pathfinder Beginners Box. Judging by the fact you are playing a Drow, you aren't playing the Beginners Box. You might be better off asking in another forum, although I expect this will ne moved to the appropriate forum at some point.

How would you change the thread to a different forum? And the drow is my first character, I just thought it be interesting to role play.

Chances are, a forum Admin will see this thread and move it where it needs to go eventually. You can try flagging my reply to get their attention, if you like.

I know nothing at all about PCGen, but it sounds like you are trying to edit something that isn't meant to be edited by ordinary users: the sort of licensing you are talking about sounds to me like the sort of thing that is meant for developers to negotiate their way into so that they can legally add their content to PCGen and use the PCGen name and so on. In short, Paizo might work out a licensing contract with PCGen to add the rules and stuff needed by PCGen's software so that it can be used by ordinary users to create Pathfinder characters.

Chances are that if you are just trying to create a character sheet for your first character, you really aren't interested in the licensing and contracts.

So,

1. Make sure you've downloaded the right version of PCGen from: (link)

2. And check out the PCGen help and beginner tutorials here: (link) - if you still have questions after that, ask for help at the pcgen.org site, and you'll be able to get better answers.

Good luck!

Yes, make sure you are using the correct link (above). You should never be asked for a license.

We have noticed that some people have been re-packaging PCGen with other types of malware, so make sure you get it from pcgen.org (or pcgen.sf.net)

Thanks so much, I did download from that site but it still having issues. I think I will message Pcgen and ask them why it working. Thank you again.

I'll admit, I'm confused. PCGen should not be asking for a license. You may see a notice that we are using the Open Gaming License, but you shouldn't need to accept or have any license yourself to use PCGen.

If you could walk me through what you are seeing when you try to use the program, I'll do what I can to help.
