Converting Monsters

Rise of the Runelords

The Exchange

Hello all! First post. My problem comes from my need to convert a monster into an NPC party member.

Spoiler:
My group caught Gresgurt and are currently holding him in a cell at the Sandpoint Garrison. I know where this is going, they've made it readily apparent. How do I take his stats and level him appropriately to the party to be a NPC party member? I was thinking Alchemist and the corresponding archetype.

Personally, if the PCs actually are successful in causing an alignment shift on the goblin, I'd expect he'd start emulating whoever was most responsible for that shift, and start aiming to be more like their class. Who did the most talking during that conversation?

The Exchange

The Halfling Bard and the Half-Orc Inquisitor.

A little confused. Have they actually succeeded in changing his alignment? Did they prevent the various unpleasant things he has and is supposed to have done as written in the AP? Hard to see why the people of Sandpoint would tolerate any "redemption" if not.
And the creature in question already has a class - why if he needs levels would you not level him in that class?

Okay, update in this regard.
1. They have not changed his alignment yet, but are aware they will need to.
2. No. He did his thing in the home. It's a mess. But I think they felt bad for him, seeing he was starving, and alone.
3. I'm guessing that Disguise checks will need to be made for a while.
4. I have a Ranger in my party, and dint want to double up, but, I did think about it for a bit and feel, yeah, he stays Ranger too. BUT a mounted type. Now I got to find a suitable mount. No dog, and no pony.....

I like the idea that the goblin either starts training under one of the two PCs and takes levels in their class, regardless of how terrible he might be at that class. Makes gobliny sense to me.

The Exchange

right on! He learns from The current Ranger in my party. Right there in my face! thanks for the idea!
