What to do with NPC discrepancies

Rules Questions

Hi,
Thanks for reading my post. I noticed some anomalies in two of the adventure paths. I'll spoiler the details

Spoiler:
In the Jade Regent adventure path, Ulf Gormundr has a wisdom of 10, but can cast a 1st level ranger spell, endure elements (Book 2)
In Iron Gods Sevroth Slaid is a brawler level 2, but has unarmed damage of a d8, instead of a d6. (book 2 as well)

Supposing there is a discrepancy, I'd just correct. (Both these characters have/may be taken over by pcs) Is there a different recommended action that you would/have followed in your games?

diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

edited to correct ability type

NPC stat block errors are pretty frequent - they're fairly complex! However, 99% of the time it simply doesn't matter. The players aren't likely to be interacting with Ulf on a close enough level to ever realise he's got 10 Wis instead of the needed 11 - and that's with an NPC who's fairly heavily involved in the adventure! Most villains only exist long enough for the players to stomp them into the ground in a single encounter.

You could correct it, if it bothers you, but I'd just run them as written. Nobody will notice or care. If and when you need to change them into PCs, rebuild them as needed then.

Honestly, unless a player takes over the character as their character I'd just run it as written. Stat block can be fairly complex, it's easy to make a mistake. Also, some writers for AP's aren't as familiar with the rules as us as players and they make mistakes with that.

Don't worry about it unless your players are going to play those characters.

Thanks! This will make me more enthusiastic about playing Sandru (Jade Regent). Him having a +1 scimitar as a swashbuckler didn't make much mechanical sense. We'll just have to write in a Varisian traveler who wants to trade with a rapier. I know we usually rebuild characters as we see fit, but I just wanted to jump into a role without much fuss and didn't pay attention until later.
