Missile and melee in one round

Rules Questions

Can a creature like a Xill (4 arms) use their multiple attacks to do one bow shot, and then use the other arms for melee attacks, in the same round?

Yes, and you don't even have to be a fancy creature like that.

You could drop your bow after the first shot, quick draw another weapon, and continue to attack.

That's sort of what I thought, but couldn't find it anywhere. And now, as you say, come the questions about things like Power Attack.

You wouldn't even need to drop the bow, since they are held in your OFF-hand, the one that would typically be carrying the shield.

You can do this without even quick draw or dropping items: Crossbows and guns can be used one handed, so you can attack with a crossbow in one hand and a sword in the other.

Consider using the Opening Volley feat.

Power Attack - "You can choose to take a –1 penalty on all melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +2 bonus on all melee damage rolls."

Power attack works well. Deadly aim has the same text except with melee replaced by ranged.

It seems Two Weapon Fighting works with thrown weapons and does not require a full round action, Rapid Shot specifically requires a ranged weapon and a full round action.

Note that without the Sword and Pistol feat (or two levels in savage technologist barbarian, one level in flying blade swashbuckler, or one level in picaroon swashbuckler), any ranged attacks draw an attack of opportunity.

Incorrect.

If you get more than one attack per round because your base attack bonus is high enough (see Base Attack Bonus in Classes), because you fight with two weapons or a double weapon, or for some special reason, you must use a full-round action to get your additional attacks.

It does work with thrown weapons (although you need the Quick Draw feat as well to use it at full effect).

Getting multiple attacks requires a full round action, however you can still wield two weapons for the purposes of AoO and defending weapon property and such. Feats such as rapid shot specifically require a full round action to use.
