A Crazy Idea!

Liberty's Edge

So I'm still working on getting Sasha ready for her first official session next week, but I had a crazy idea that, if it works, I'd like to try. Please let me know, rules-wise, how/if this would work, and if it will, whether you all think it is viable in PFS.

Ok, so my idea is to make Sasha a whip-wielding dual class Bonded, White-Haired Witch/Bladebound, Hexcrafter Magus.

I know what you're all thinking, "What is this crazy idiot thinking?!" but hear me out:

White-Haired Witch loses all hexes, but gains an impressive natural weapon with her hair. She also maintains all of her Witch spells, which I really like for their de-buffery and thematic things like Whip of Spiders. On top of all of that, she gains Rogue Talents, which add to her combat prowess.

Now we add Hexcrafter Magus in order to gain access to a few different spells, some of which are not on the Witch spell list, and regain our Hexes, though we must give up some Arcana to do so. We also gain the ability to wear light armor (later medium and heavy) while incurring no spell failure for Magus spells (unfortunately this does not apply to our Witch spells, but 5-10% is not too terrible). Add to this the improved combat capabilities of the Magus and we're shaping up to be a formidable foe!

Now for the part that I'm unclear on. I looked at another post from last year, but it was never satisfactorily explained whether this is legal, or if it is indeed wise. The idea is to take Bladebound with a whip (scorpion whip if possible, but it's listed as light, so...), but have this whip also be the Bonded Witch's "familiar." Again, I'm not sure if this is a possibility, but if it is I think it could make for some interesting storytelling when suddenly the family heirloom that has been used to grant Sasha spells suddenly awakens and begins communicating with her telepathically!

Anyway, please let me know whether of not any of this makes sense or is even feasible/legal in PFS. And while I'm at it, I'll throw another wrench in the works: What about subbing the Veneficus archetype for White-Haired?

Thanks!!

Interesting concept, but watch your BAB. One 3/4 class and one 1/2 class is going to lead to misery without fractional BAB, which I'm almost positive is still not in PFS. Home game might work though.

anything that makes for a rules debate is not feasible for PFS. So leave out what you can't get a clear answer on. Otherwise, go for it!

One thing i'd like to note is that you can't use your witch hair with spell combat.

Both good points, but does anyone have any insight on the whole Bladebound/Bonded situation?

I would suggest you do not make the black blade your bonded item.

While I am not sure on the legality of it, you lose out on a big bonus of an arcane bonded item, the ability to enhance it. A Black Blade will not allow you to change it (except via arcane pool).

A better option is a ring, one you can turn into a ring of wizardry I, which gives you a nice benefit on the fact it will double both classes 1st level spells. Take advantage of the mass of low level spells you will have.
