Service Request: Recipe Concierge

Is there any person, company or settlement that is offering concierge services for locating, purchasing, and delivering recipes at a reasonable price and with upmost confidentiality?

If so, please send me a PM. Thanks. :)

Seems like a good job for someone (or a company) based in EL.

Goblin Squad Member

Xilanthis was working on this.

The Keepers maintain a diverse stock of T1 and T2 recipes for trade and are happy to deal publicly or privately.

As will Dreamless

Elian,

I am aware of the Keepers recepies stockpile, what I am looking for is a direct contact for providing a service for individual, company and settlement commissions.

Goblin Squad Member

That would be me at present, as the Keepers are low on other Merchant characters at present (a situation I'd like to rectify).

Erian, are you speaking as an agent for Keepers, or promoting yourself as a Concierge?

For my money, the term concierge implies an independent entity with no overt affiliation, who will take a little off the top to deal with all the known (and some unknown) sources to obtain something for someone who doesn't want to contact the designated merchants for various individuals and groups of entities and spend a bunch of time going through numerous negotiations before traveling to some random corner of the map and hopefully getting what they wanted in the first place.

Goblin Squad Member

Cal B,

That is exactly what I am looking for. I am going to quote you on the GW thread of the same name? :)

I'm not familiar with the use of the term in that manner--all concierge services I've used in the past were specifically affiliated with a hotel or other property at which I was staying. They provided various services, but most certainly had an interest in maintaining the image of their host property. Perhaps there is some MMO terminology with which I am not familiar?

I would call what you describe a middle-man, agent, or broker. And yes, I can serve in that roll if desired. Mediation between parties is a function of the Ring of Gold and is actually drafted in our sub-charter. We can provide this to anonymous parties (when such is desired) and for mediation of anything whether it be solving a conflict or completing a business transaction (which is in itself a form of conflict--two parties are seeking their best result often at the expense of the other).

If Wikipedia is to be believed, "Concierge services" and "personal Concierges" in which a company hires out concierges to people rather than those stationed in a building, are becoming increasingly popular. Perhaps the International Concierge and Lifestyle Management Group is aware of one of their members with an interest in PFO....

Hence James Spader's character on the Blacklist being called "The Concierge of Crime". Great show, by the way.

Perhaps the word you're looking for is consigliere.

That seems unlikely.

Goblin Squad Member

I must say, consigliere would make more sense to me in this context than concierge in this context, though even then Broker and Agent seem more appropriate unless you are specifically going for a nefarious tone. This is all, of course, just semantics, though my intent is to ensure the nature of services is clear to those interested.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Consigliere is an actual word, which translates "Adviser" and in the popular mythos of the mafia is an adviser/lieutenant to a particular individual, not an acquisitions specialist for anyone that wants something.

Procurer, or Broker are more accurate for those that don't like Concierge.

I think Giorgo nails it with concierge. Sadly, many have never experienced the true art of this profession. A person working in a hotel with this position would be referred to as a Hotel Concierge. E tutto bene, Giorgo. Ti capisco.

Especially if we are thinking of this thing we have as a "community."

Ah, yes, that is correct. I would make a terrible criminal.

Goblin Squad Member

Just what a brilliant criminal would say.

Sounds like you just need a neutralish known trader that everyone is more or less willing to work with and agrees to customer confidentiality.

Soo that said if enough of you guys want I'm willing to organize a confidential trade ring (let's start with T2 recipes), my corner of the world is quiet enough and open enough that we wouldn't have any issues with folks from all walks of life coming through. I already have some of the tracking for such an endeavor put together, I can easily adapt it for interested individuals.

PM me your interest if you don't want to publicly state it here.

Addendum (based on other forums): Not to step on Xil's toes and correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've seen Xil has been buying and selling, not necessarily acting as a backroom broker. I'm proposing I open up my tracking sheets a bit so that users can confidentially see what others are willing to trade and I act as the go between without the involved parties ever knowing who they are buying and selling from. If that is what we are talking about then feel free to contact me with your interest, if not then I highly recommend Xil's services. If Xil is already doing that level of trading I do not seek to compete with him at this time.

Where is Shedim gone?

He was great in this job !!

Withdrawing my offer for now, Xil is already handling this, check this thread to contact him.

Cal B is correct again. I speak from personal experience as my wife is a RL Independent Concierge in the Non-Hotel Service Industry, and provides a personal professional service for her clients written, expressed and implied needs (in matters relating to finances, construction, maintenance, dealing with government agencies, all sorts of "surprises" and "emergencies"); it is a growing professional service industry.

With regards to PFO, I am looking for a person or company to do all the work of finding, acquiring, and delivering recipes for my PCs, my Company and my Settlement. I provide them with a list and payment, he/she/they take care of the rest. So far I have seen a few offers, I will be making a decision this weekend. Time I don't spend on looking for recipes, is time I have for doing things I find more fun and enjoyable. :)
