Describing spell auras

I decided I wanted a more formulaic way to describe the auras created by spellcasting. So, I came up with the following:

Spell Aura Thematics

Please critique and discuss. It's a work in progress still… I am not quite set on the colors for abjuration and divination yet.

Liberty's Edge

Abjuration seems to be more of a teal or cyan to me, for some reason.

It's a tough one - the others aside from divination were honestly fairly easy when I looked through the spell lists. I need a reason that abjuration or divination are a certain color, though.

Take a look at the webcomic Goblins. Every being in it has an IME, or Individual Magic Effect, a visual effect whenever they interact with magic that gets more impressive as they level up.

I'm familiar with Goblins, but I hadn't considered it here (granted, this whole thing just came to me today as I was thinking of ways to describe potions…). Thanks for the reminder.

This project has really explained magic in an in-universe way to me. It has also convinced me that healing spells belong in Necromancy, like they did in 2nd edition and prior.

I'm still mucking with the colors a bit, but I now understand Divination (effectively, peering at/through ley lines) and Abjuration (not just planar boundaries, but the barriers that surround all magical effects).

Universal has been added. It is crimson, as it is the combination of ley lines (gold) and barriers (magenta).
