The Brawler class states “A brawler is proficient with all simple weapons plus the handaxe, short sword, and weapons from the close fighter weapon group. She is proficient with light armor, but not with shields.”
If you take the Shield Champion Archetypes do you get proficient with shields at 1st level or do you have to wait till 3rd level when trade maneuver training for Throw Shield?

RAW, The Shield Champion brawler is proficient with shields as armor, but not as weapons. This is an oversight, and it is intended for a shield champion brawler to bash at level 1. Until this gets FAQ/errata, I suggest having your Shield Champion worship Gorum and take the Shield Trained trait.
