Do you know of a 'mech class? (homebrew is fine)

Advice

So, I'm in the process of creating a homebrew setting, and one of the major powers will be an ancient empire of elves. These elves mostly use slave labour from dwarves amd goblinoids, but when they need to go into battle themselves they do so in forged and enchanted metallic suits similar to golems or 'mechs.

So im looking for a class, preferably a prestige class, that would work for this. Or perhaps a bunch of magic items/golems/whatever. Preferably the suits should be customizable, and of sizes somewhere around large-huge.

I have no issue with using 3pp or homebrew material, but would prefer free options (i dont like buying stuff online).

I could homebrew it myself, perhaps based in the synthesist, but I really dont know how to make it well. I want it to feel like theyre in a large heavy suit/magic machine, not just like a bunch of numbers.

Thanks for any help!

synth summoners

The Aegis in Ultimate Psionics from Dreamscarred Press creates armor out of psychic energy and acts similarly to a psychic iron man. They may be on D20PFSRD, but I can't check from work, I'm afraid.

Sorry, while that might work as a baseline for a homebrew, it alone doesn't fit very well. Firstly because it's inherently a strong caster, secondly because the eidolon is too inherently magical, and thirdly because it's far _too_ customizable. And while it may work as a baseline, it's also a very... "special" class, and I fear I'm not skilled enough to make something fitting out of it without breaking anything.

Thanks a lot for this suggestion! It is on d20pfsrd, and seems like an excellent base of which to build something fitting. Also, the usage of psionics as opposed to magic will reinforce the ancient and alien feel of the high elves as opposed to basically every other humanoid species.

You had to know that a Synthesist Summoner would be your easiest, and among your first, answers.

Alternatively, you could just use the Clockwork Creature Template.

My old armiger might be of use. It's a tech-based class that gets a suit of mechanical armour that can eventually become something like a battlemech.

I was under the impression that the batlemech peeps would be NPCs and thus they're going to be as magical as you wanted them to be. oh, and that the player's would never hear what class they are.

Their primary use will be as NPCs, but the option will be available to the PC's too. But even so, I prefer transparacy so to speak - I want NPCs to function basically the same way as PC's.

I haven't read it myself, but there's a book line called DragonMech written for 3.5 that may be what you're looking for.

EDIT: Just noticed the line about not liking to buy things online. Keeping my post here just so you or others with similar ideas later can look at it.
