This is in regards to the PRD, since it's only stated in the topic and it should be in the body of the message, also.
Say I want to search something simple like "druid" expecting to get the class. I get a list of responses that's nigh unusable. All of them are entitled "Druid" or "Druids". Obviously they're all related, but I'd expect the most pertinent to be on top--and I'd expect the most pertinent to be the actual druid class.
HERE is a screenshot of the results. These are the first 11 results when "druid" is typed into the search bar. The actual class description is the 12th result. Now I can understand that whatever algorithm it uses doesn't provide the one I feel is the most important one first. But that part that makes it really useless is the part where every. single. entry. lists "PRD" as the source.
Of course the PRD is the source, I searched the PRD. Of course the entries are in the PRD. What would make this search functional is if it listed the source book entry instead of saying "PRD". Then at least if we're familiar with what we're quickly trying to find in the reference documentation we would know if the particular link might be what we're looking for.

I agree. We've made some strides when it comes to ID creation for some of the newer content, but there's a lot of improvement that can be made in this area. I've gone ahead and made this an item to forward to our tech team, but they've got a lot of plates spinning, so can't give any sort of timeline.
In the future, it's also very helpful to us to have PRD reports in the same place. If you could post to this thread with issues you come across, it helps us track it a bit better :)

If I'm looking at it correctly it grabs them in alphabetical order or at leas it appears to at a glance. The first entry comes from the APG but if you look up "druid class" it seems the first entry is the CRB druid entry.
Good to know, that never occurred to me.

No worries, I know from experience how many hoops it takes to get something updated. What seems like a simple, useful feature to one is usually behind a long list of planned implementations.
As a temporary workaround, if you hover over the clickable text, the link that appears to let you know where you'll be navigating to (at least in Chrome, not sure if it works in other browsers) has the source book in it: Prd/advanced for APG, Prd/advancedRaceGuide, Prd/npcCodex, etc.
Thanks, that'll be useful.
Hopefully I didn't come off sounding too negative. The new PRD is a great improvement over what it replaced. I was just trying to get my point across.
