trip options

Rules Questions

just curious:

back in 3.0 days the improved trip feat would allow a free melee attack if the trip was successful.

is there a feat or ability in Pathfinder that also allows this?

perhaps a rage power?
a fighter Archetype ability?

a monk ability?

Felling Smash (Combat)

You commit all your focus to a devastating blow, trying to crush your opponent to the ground.

Prerequisites: Int 13, Str 13, Combat Expertise, Improved Trip, Power Attack, base attack bonus +6.
Benefit: If you use the attack action to make a single melee attack at your highest base attack bonus while using Power Attack and you hit an opponent, you can spend a swift action to attempt a trip combat maneuver against that opponent.

Actually, that's exactly opposite of what you asked. I know there's a feat for this.. hold on...

Tripping Strike (Combat)

The force intrinsic to your critical hits can knock your foes down.

Prerequisites: Int 13, Combat Expertise, Improved Trip, base attack bonus +9.
Benefit: Whenever you score a critical hit with a melee attack, you can trip your opponent, in addition to the normal damage dealt by the attack. If your confirmation roll exceeds your opponent's CMD, you may knock your opponent prone as if from the trip combat maneuver. This does not provoke an attack of opportunity. If you are tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop your weapon to avoid being tripped.

Dang.. my reading comprehension sucks. Again, that's exactly the opposite...

I'm overcomplicating it, it's just Greater Trip >_<

Greater Trip causes them to provoke an AoO.

Closest I can think of is Vicious Stomp, but the AoO can only be taken with an unarmed strike. Happily, it works alongside Greater Trip.

Wauw Claudekennilol really failed there. Twice he tried to fulfill OP's request without hitting the mark. Third time was the charm. Greater trip grants a bonus to trip AND whenever you are succesful the target provokes an AoO.

I like both options, I never thought of greater trip.

and thanks for the Vicious stomp suggestion.

Just remember, if you want to use Greater Trip and Vicious Stomp, you will need Combat Reflexes and a Dex of 12 or higher to be able to make both AoOs granted.

Then again, Greater Trip is also a great way to let your allies beat the crap out of your target, too. Especially if they have Combat Reflexes and Vicious Stomp, too. Sort of like getting caught out by a bunch of clog dancers, death by sabot.
